I see Dr. Nassar. He's about my 4-5 pain doctor. I really enjoy that he doesn't have a computer screen, shoved in his face, all my visits. He seems very professional. I have yet to see. My treatment with him has yet to be successful or show improvement. My saying is, I don't expect to be pain free, that would be unrealistic but just not to be in such severe pain, is not wrong to expect that!! This is his chosen field, he should be able to help me. Dr. Pena has competently treated me for over a year and has helped in changing treatments always compassionate and usually prompt. I have had to wait a couple of times but that is not normal like it is with some doctors appointments, of course, life happens and none of us is able to manage unexpected urgency all the time. I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Dr. Nasser and Dr. Pena at Antelope Valley Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Specialists (AVORS). After 25 years of constant suffering, they gave me my life back. Once again, I can enjoy family, friends, and the richness of life. For over 25 years I endured moderate to severe pain, paralysis and crushing muscles spasms. Spasms strong enough to halt my breathing and break bones. Depression and anxiety also came along for the ride. A congenital birth defect led to 12 spinal surgeries followed by 6 shoulder surgeries from falling all the time. No one could to get to root of the problem, and so I suffered day after day night after night for over 2 decades. Overs the years I probably saw 6 different pain management groups. Some good, some not so good. Their staff, they were helpful - sometimes. The common denominator, they never seemed to have enough. I think the Doctors at AVORS listen. I mean really listen. For me, they did the right treatment at the right time. All doctors have similar training. It is how they practice it that makes the difference. However, ultimately it is the patient's responsibility to follow through and listen to their doctor. Loose weight, cut back on sugar, exercise etc. I am extremely fortunate to have Dr. Thomas and Dr. Pena as my pain management doctors. My wife and I would also like to recommend Dr. Susan Nasser at Family First Medical. Went there for a foot problem. Not a good experience. I was a sent immediately for X-rays that I didn't need and which probably was never read. Before the doctor could have even looked at the X-rays, he was in the room peddling cortisone injections and/or shoe inserts. "A or B bud, that's all we do for this plantar fasciitis and we do it all day everyday". I was never asked a question, no previous history, no questions about shoes or levels of activity, nothing to understand what may have caused it. The doctor never even actually looked at my foot, his eye never saw my foot with my shoe off. He did however manage to validate over $700 in insurance co billing even though I left with absolutely nothing. 100% more concerned with billing and revenue than compassionate patient care. The experience left me hesitant and untrusting to seek medical care through facilities that I'm unfamiliar with. I really miss Kaiser. read more

Doctors are good but follow-up communication, billing, and administrations is lacking. As a larger organization I had expectations that the organization could effectively communicate between doctors and process paperwork better than a group of scattered specialty clinics I had been using before. AVORS Med Group being a one stop shop for podiatry, ortho, pain management, chiro etc is great idea. I had transferred my medical needs there last fall thinking that there'd be better communication and coordination between doctors and outside services such as imaging as well as save time by scheduling multiple appointments in one day with one organization. The waiting room was usually filled to capacity and many times I had to wait in excess of 2 hours. It seems like they overbook. I've had to reschedule a number of times because the wait was so excessive. I will caveat though, chiropractor didn't have these issues and were always on time appointments (I highly recommend Dr. Smith and the chiropractor services) After a fiasco of having to reschedule an MRI 3 times for failing to process timely paperwork my family left for other doctors. We've also had issues getting notified of lab results as well. I've done several MRI's and labs with other doctors and never encountered these kinds of problems. So I'm going back to my group of scattered specialty clinics that I had used before. BTW: If your looking for good orthopedist I'd recommend Valley Ortho and for pain management go to Universal Pain Management. read more

Excellent doctor's. If you come in for a check-up and the ask for and need cortisone injections, they don't make you come again. They do it right then and there. If my prescriptions get messed up. I call on, leave a message, and it is usually fixed within 2 days. Even time consuming things like pre-authorization. The front desk tends to be busy with either people or tasks, so you may have a bit of a wait here. I really think they should stop their tasks and pay attention to the person in front of them. This is why I dinged them a star, if I could have done half of one I would have. read more

Making my initial appointment was the only time I had any sort of wait on the phone, but I understand given the times lately how busy these medical offices get. Dr. Smith and his staff are absolutely amazing! Such kind, understanding and just all round fantastic individuals. Dr. Smith really takes his time to listen to his patients and makes you feel like an individual that important to him instead of a walking list of symptoms. PT, cortisone x2 , PRP injections .. my HMO sent me to Dr Antebi and AVORS and what a life changer! I am 9 weeks post Total Hip and it is like magic ! My life is back !! I had a horrible experience with the nickel and dimming. They are all about the money here. I have always gotten a courteously reminder for my appointments but not with them. All I got was a $25 no show bill. They charge for fees that nowhere else charges. I never pay a copay for my preventative care but was asked to pay a $25 copay for my breast exam. I kindly refused and found a much better office in Palmdale at West Palmdale Health Care. I wouldn't recommend anyone here unless tou just like throwing money away. read more

My daughter went into the hospital and they stated she had a suspected drug overdose. When Dr. Nasser came to see her he immediately wanted to drop her as a patient but couldn't explain why when he was the one who started giving her the medication she was on. Anything to keep up an appearance. He also accused my daughter of being on drugs she wasn't prescribed. Those drugs were given to her by the hospital and if we would have taken the time to read the chart he would see that. Then she has an appointment with them after the fact and they prescribed her the same medication that she supposedly overdosed on. Idiots read more

AVORS is a fabulous place. The waiting time is about par for the course. Dr. Sherfey, my ortho, is the best, in my opinion, number one. I am seriously looking at "going under the knife", and am confident with Dr. Sherfey and his skills and also his explaining in detail and answering all the questions that I had. Then there is Dr. Thomas Nasser. He takes care of the pain in my neck with injections. And they do help. Dr. Nasser knows his stuff and is very quick. He's out the door before you know it! If you enjoy WAITINGGGGG this is the place for you. Doesn't matter if show up on time, 15 minutes early or 30 minutes early you won't be seen by a medical person for at least 45-60 minutes and sometimes longer. I got here at 10:30 for 11 appointment, was called back at 11:28. Sat in room for 15 minutes before nurse came in and now waiting again. Still not done with the appointment to remove sutures only. The staff is a mix of good, okay, and never see them again. The Nurse Practitioners we've met (usually who we are scheduled to see) very nice, but based on the fact that all the members of my family (two small children and two adults ) see the same nurse practitioner 95% of the time it appears they and overwork those individuals. I don't know much about or anything really about any of the doctors on staff as I've only met the doctor who did my hand surgery. Dr. Heller nice doctor, good bed side manner, knowledgeable, but only saw him twice and once was the surgery. More like a 2.5 out 5 stars, but that's not an option. read more

Very long wait times. When you finally see the dr you get 5 minutes and then they are gone. Staff can be incompetent at times. Hold times on the phone are ridiculous. Not knowing how to do a specific test. Calling in wrong prescriptions. Always back in a month when you know if the treatment will help within days. I definitely didn't feel heard. read more
