Walking into this place, you get the immediate sense that whatever is supposed to be happening here…read morehas long since stopped. There's an almost impressive level of dysfunction--like everyone collectively agreed to lower expectations and then just kept going.. They have got four or five people on staff; which sounds promising until you realize only one of them is ever actually working. The rest rotate between hanging out in the back, listening to music loudly enough to echo through the building, and pretending there isn't a line forming up front while staring into their phones. There are multiple desks, multiple offices--everything you'd need to run an efficient operation--except for the actual brain power to do it. If you have even the simplest question, forget the phone, they will not answer. You have to physically show up, stand in line, and wait for the lone employee while the rest of the staff treat the place like a break room with occasional customers interrupting their day. Packages are continuously marked for delivered by drivers too lazy to finish the route for the day. Those packages are then prone to getting lost because they become untraceable once marked this way. On the plus side, if your career goals include doing the absolute minimum while actively avoiding helping people, this might be your dream workplace. It's the perfect environment for anyone committed to mediocrity, where initiative is optional and accountability appears to be completely nonexistent. It is very "small town"…read more I heard that this tiny post office is here because there are two major court houses two blocks away (24th Judicial District Court and 5th Circuit Court of Appeal). It is not listed in most places, hard to find even on Google. It is the smallest PO I've ever been in, there is only one little counter and parking is just a small strip on the left side of the street. The right side is pay-to-park. Usually it's not bad though. *Note: the address is 3rd St. but the entrance is on Huey P Long Ave. because it is on a corner. The clerks are always very nice and helpful, one time I had a package, the window gate/cage was down and I knocked on the door and the lady came out and took my package. It made my day!!!!! Anyway, if you are in historic old Gretna and need to go to a PO, check this place out!!!!!

The only advantage is that you can go early before 9a to pick up your package from the pick up window. (guess this is how they're able to get 8hrs) Friendly staff. Often times this location is staffed by one or two postal personnel; which makes for the a slow flow. Ughhhhhhh. Unfortunate for me this is the location that MY packages are held at so I have to visit more often than I care to mention.

Hello. I was trying…read moreto do a money order today. It was 5 money orders for a large amount of money. The old lady (African American lady with blonde hair) at the register today gave me the wrong form. An 8105-B instead of an 8105-A. When I asked her about it she said that she was too busy and that she must have misplaced the form. I presented her the envelope of money after filling out the form. She was unable to use the computer properly and had to redo the money order multiple times. Then when she finally got the amount in she had me pay with card, after I told her I wanted to pay the fee with my card. She paid the entire total, not the fee, on my card. When I confronted her about it, she and another customer ganged up on me and told me that I was in the wrong and did not verbalize that I wanted to pay the order with cash. I showed you an envelope of cash, and requested to pay the fee. I'm not sure how much clearer I could have been. When I asked for a way to fix it, she said she did not know, and reiterated it was my fault. I then told her that I would be taking my business to the Walmart down the street. The workers there did the entire money order in 5 minutes. What poor customer service.
