There is a nasty ring of thieves operating in the New Orleans Postal system. They are not losing packages they are targeting and stealing them This is March 2022. A few months ago I sold a ring in eBay for 400$ and it was never moved out of the New Orleans postal system to its next city. Today March 2022 the same thing happened with a gold bracelet. What Is worst is that the main claims department refused to honor the insurance I had on my package. I sent them photos of the items sales record and they denied my claim and appeal. I will never again send any piece of valuable through this system. I will use UPS or FedEx. A federal investigation needs to start here. They make very good salaries yet Still feel the need to rob me. I work hard for my money only to have a lazy no count bum steal my package. When writing a review of the post office, it's important to keep it interesting for the reader. Sure this place sells stamps, has PO boxes and mailboxes, but what sets it apart. For me at least, it's the memories I have here. Memories at a post office? Are you crazy? Heck yeah I am, but some of my best memories are rooted here. Let me share a few with you. 1. This is my childhood post office. It's where I mailed my first letter. It's where all of the letters from my grandmother were processed. Those letters addressed to Master John LH are some of my fondest childhood memories. 2. This is the place I mailed my taxes for the first time. For me, that meant the transition from childhood to adulthood. No one likes paying taxes, but prior to this day, my parents handled that stuff. 3. The steep curb exiting the lot. When I was a teen I had a badass car. That badass car was a 1974 Nova with a 350 cubic inch V8. It was pure American badassery. It was also quite low to the ground and had a propensity for scraping when exiting parking lots. This lot had a high curb, but it also taught me how to angle my car to exit which has made me a much better driver to this day. Who knew mailing bills would mean I can jump a median like nobody's business today? 4. My first PO box. Heck, it was my only PO box. No, it wasn't for the sending and receiving of illegal narcotics, it was for a fraternal organization I belonged to. Having that box taught me a valuable lesson. I never want to have a PO box. This location loses every package and recently all of my mail from the month of November and they refuse to take any accountability. I get scanned images of all of my mail and I sign up for tracking of packages and I still don't get my items. I go to the post office, wait 45 minutes in line just to see a rep and to have them lie to my face about the status of my items when I have tangible proof in my hands. read more

Everyone in New Orleans seems to be happy! Is it because the economy is so horrible here, if you are not into the entertaiment industry or hospitality, so having a job makes them happy?!? I go to this post office several times a week to drop off packages and the people that I usually see at the front counter couldn't be nicer. Ms. Delona, Mr. Daniel and Ms. Jasmine- thank you all for kind and understanding manner in which I have observed you treating the public and doing your jobs now and during the pandemic. I used to go to the downtown post office, but after waiting in line for 10 minutes one day and getting to the clerks window, the clerk took an attitude with me and asked me why I didn't go to the automated kiosk since I had a prepaid shipping label. I had to explain to her that it was because the automatic kiosk would give you a receipt but it wouldn't guarantee you that they had accepted the package. If you want good service and nice people, go to the Algiers post office station and leave your anxieties at home. read more

No matter what time of day I have arrived at this post office over the past few years there is always a long line and minimum wait time of around 30-45 minutes. 80% of the time I have tried to mail packages at this post office I have had to leave before reaching the counter as I had to return to work. There are usually too few employees working and the pace at which they are helping customers is extremely slow. I hate to spend more $ but after another lunch break wasted waiting 30 minutes in line and not even getting to the counter and having to return to work, I am just going to start using the UPS store. It's a shame this post office can't be more efficient for its customers. read more

My package went missing that my mom sent from California that had important things in there including my W-2s. Tracked the package and it said it was out for delivery since January 28th. It is now the 4th of February. When I called customer service which I had to wait a freaking a hour to speak to a representative they said my package should have arrived at my apartment by now. It's bad enough that they hire McDonald's rejects to deliver the mail (Seriously, every day we all have to trade mail because our delivery woman is illiterate or lazy or maybe both). Today, while I was working on my house, she comes to the sidewalk and sees my dog. I tell her to ignore her and just go to the next house. I walk to the sidewalk and my dog is about 6 feet behind me sunning herself. This psycho hose-beast calmly gets out her pepper spray, reaches around me so she can spray my dog in the face! My dog was not aggressive, barking, growling, nothing. Just sunning herself. She didn't even bark after the hose-beast sprayed her. The psycho barely even broke stride. She refused to give me her name and calmly walked to the next house (at that point, because of where I was with my dog, she was even closer to my dog than when she sprayed her in the face!). Of course, when I called the post office, she had already called and claimed she was scared...She never even raised her voice while I was telling her off. She was calm, cool and collected...Just a psycho who wanted to harm a dog. And her bosses? They said we could put a mail box by the road or hold our mail but wouldn't so much as talk to her about the incident. Useless pieces of garbage. read more

Can I leave less than one star? I came here to mail a package the other day. I went into the main office area, picked out a box and asked the attendant to borrow their tape. I go into the other lobby area and proceed to tape up my box. As I am doing so the attendant comes and locks me out of the main office. I very nicely asked, "Oh, you guys are closing?" " We close at noon" with a major attitude. Excuse me for trying to do business at your place of employment I guess? Whatever. I've lived in algiers 63 years. This post office used to do it's job. They picked up mail that was sitting on your mailbox to be delivered and they delivered mail 6 days a week. Now if you put your mail out to be delivered it can sit there for three days, I can go 3 days with no mail delivered to me. I've seen mailman and women walk right past my box without even looking to see if I had something going out. I had one mail lady who had a phone stuck in her ear so she couldn't hear me when I had to run behind her to give her my mail that she had just dropped in the street. In my 57 years on this earth I haven't ever encountered such unprofessional and unaccountable employees ever. I believe the carriers are stealing packages. I ordered something that arrived there on March 4, 2018. Today is March 17 and it hasn't been delivered. I called the office and visited. The information provided was conflicting and inconsistent. I spoke to a "supervisor" named Rodney. He was so unconcerned and unapologetic. The sarcasm he provided is definitely not supervisor material. The federal government's hiring standards have declined abundantly. On last week I received a package forced into a mail slot. It was also ruined. If you live in 70131 I suggest you advise them to hold your mail. I intend to be compensated for my damaged package and the one that someone potentially stole or lost. read more

Okay, so I realize I'm going out on a limb here and am quite possibly irreparably damaging my credibility, but... I really like this post office. I know. I KNOW. I detest going to the post office. I actually held off on writing this review because I thought my first visit was surely a fluke, but the second visit was just the same, if not better. Both times I've been here been in the early afternoon, probably between 2pm and 4pm. The parking lot looked full both times and I groaned inwardly so as not to be overly negative in front of my sweet three-year-old. But once I got inside? A completely different story. The line wasn't that long at all. The place was relatively clean. There were actually TWO people working behind the counter. And - miracle of miracles - they were friendly. Efficient. Laughing and joking and having FUN, even. I mean really? I was in and out of there in just a few minutes, and actually left with a smile on my face both times. I must have slipped through some strange portal to an alternate universe, because I am convinced that this version of a post office does not exist in reality. read more

I am not sure how you arrive at my address to deliver a package, decide not to leave it in the mailbox when there is no signature required, leave a slip, and then suddenly the next day when I come to pick it up, the package cannot be found ANYWHERE. This has happened to me NUMEOUS times and I am starting to suspect that my packages are being STOLEN! On Monday, August 14, I dropped off +/- 25 packages (all containing Ebay orders from August 12-13) at this post office (in the mailing slot in the lobby). 10 of these packages had yet to be scanned or even delivered. I went to this post office on August 18 and spoke with a supervisor. I gave him the list of all 10 tracking numbers that had not been updated yet, and he told me that he was going to call the USPS Destination Facility in downtown New Orleans. I have received no follow up calls, no updates on tracking, just unhappy customers and lost packages. DO NOT USE THIS POST OFFICE. read more

I hate this post office. I've been having problems since I've moved in this district. Packages are days late!! They delivered my packages into the wrong mailbox. I'm in apartments so they use the location tracker and says its delivered. Like if it was, I wouldn't be complaining. I have yet to get a refund. The managers and workers are rude. I was put in hold for 30 min when a manager did call me. I live 3 min away. I made it to the office, stood in line, made it to the front while still on hold to only see them walking around and talking. I waited 35 min for a manager to come out to talk to me about the issue!!! I filled out a hold mail slip.few weeks later they said they didn't have one for me!!!!!! This is the third time a package says delivered and u didn't receive it. My packages says out for Delivery for 3 to 4 days, then say packages has been delayed. I go to the office and its not there!!! One time they had over 20 packages on their truck for me! Which means they were not delivering my mail!!!! read more
