She was knowledgeable about my situation and  understood the genuine value of excellent customer  service. She promptly addressed each of my inquiries and provided me with the knowledge I required. She showed me that she was listening to what I had to say. She was effective and supportive.The assistance I received was timely and exceptional. I had a good experience. It's not the best, but it's not the worst. Pros-never a line, ample parking, convenient drive through mail drop off right on Carrollton. I acquired my U.S. Passport at this location, which was more convenient than going downtown. Cons-they never have the "fun" stamps (Marvin Gaye, Mister Rodgers, John Lennon, Christmas), the service tends to be a bit gruff, the building itself, materials-pads, mats, railings, glass doors, tile work is all in DISREPAIR. I can imagine how excited I would be coming to work in a dump like that everyday. No wonder the clerks are grumpy! No, no, no. I stopped in here to mail a package and pick up stamps today while I was in the immediate area. This building is dingy, dreary and feels so run down. It's like stepping into an old movie that could be a horror flick or a bad whodunnit. You're waiting for the lights to begin to flicker and for lightening to crack. There was only one person ahead of me, and still it took forever to complete my transaction. The lady in front of me was there to pick up her mail, so the one person working left the desk to retrieve her mail and just stayed gone. The line grew and another employee came from the back, poked her head out, and asked if anyone was dropping off or picking up. When no one answered, she just went away never to return. Another woman came out only to restock shelves. And the line grew. Another woman came out and stood in front of one of the other three registers, looked around, shuffled some paper, and then away she went. Finally the first employee returned with the mail that he left to retrieve. It was now my turn. He got my package squared away, sold me the cute, scratch and sniff pop sickle stamps that I wanted, and I was on my way. He was kind and I was appreciative. My biggest issue is the customer service - apparently there are several employees, but only one who works the front counter. Secondary is the woebegone atmosphere. The Carrollton Post Office, Monday, Feb 27, 2023: I have had packages broken open, lost there etc. Larry, a postal employee is so rude and uncooperative to people he does not like. (He is REALLY nice, friendly and jovial to those he likes.) I took something to be mailed there. I asked him what were the different prices available. He did not like that question. He did not inform me that there was a cheaper price. I did not want to leave my package there as he gave me the creeps. I left, went to another post office and saved money as there were cheaper alternatives. Larry has been there for years. If he does not like you, do not waste your time and money at this post office. You will save money and property by mailing from elsewhere. read more

Wow! A postal employee named LaToya Jackson (yes) met me at the door to ask how she could help me--I had a wrapped present with no box--and helped me find the most economical way to ship it (even pre-folding the envelope to make it easier to close, and adding a couple strips of reinforcing tape--I remember once upon a time when you couldn't offer your first-born to get a free strip of tape in a U.S. postal office; I was happily surprised). A man named Whitney Nero (I don't know if that's also the name of a famous person but it sounds like it should be) helped me at the counter, was funny and friendly, and put coordinating flower bouquet stamps on my Mother's Day cards, even though a plain ol' postage meter stamp would have done. I am dazzled and amazed by the customer service at this branch! Never thought an errand at the post Office could be so pleasant. read more

I was seated in the lobby with my two children waiting for the Passport clerk to finish up with another customer. The 'manager" pops up at the front desk and begins asking people in line if anyone was there to drop off or pick up a package. She then turns to me and asks if I was there for a passport. I affirmed and she yells, "where's the father?" I was a little stunned by the question because it was none of her business and she was extremely loud. I responded he's out of town to which she said well the only way you can get a passport without him is if he is INCARCERATED. Was this white female assuming that because my children's father was not there, he had to be incarcerated? I told her that is inaccurate. She stated it again, more loudly than the last time. I replied again that she was incorrect. As the woman (Ms. Marilyn) who was handling the passport requests walked past her, she gets her attention and says to her, "this lady can't use the form because her children's father isn't here." (What does that even mean!?!?) I have actually taken the time to READ the application instructions AND am completely aware of the documents I need to apply for a passport. For this woman to abruptly insert herself in a matter that was clearly out of her authority (and common sense) was extremely rude and unprofessional. I am wondering if she would have responded to a white male the same way. Would his children's mother have to be incarcerated for him to get a passport without her? IN WHAT WORLD DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? There are a few other reasons a parent could be absent - death, illness, parent unknown, single parent adoption, sole custody - to name a few! So the only way to get a passport is if the absent parent is INCARCERATED? Well, thank goodness I have common sense and didn't leave. Ms. Marilyn was extremely efficient, pleasant, and apologetic for her colleague's asinine behavior. She knew exactly what to do and confirmed that all of my documents were in perfect order. The employee, Larry, that assisted me was passive aggressive, had an attitude, and didn't provide the customer service that I usually experience with USPS employees. I inquired about the least expensive way to mail my items and he caught an attitude with me. Instead of answering my questions, he passive aggressively repeated that the cost was going to be $4.39. I had to specifically repeat my initial question inquiring about another shipping option to get an answer. As he handed me the receipt, he didn't mention the survey. Most likely because he knew his conduct was unprofessional and very unpleasant. read more

This post office gets an added star from me because it also doubles as a passport office. I have only been in here a few times (it is not my normal neighborhood P.O.), but the line never seems too, too long, and it always moves along efficiently. The bonus star comes from my recent need for a passport which was completely satisfied by this office. They have photo taking abilities, so no need to stop somewhere else first to get a picture; you fill out the form, give them your money and a few weeks later you get a passport in your home mail box!! SO easy!! They only do this during specific hours and as I recall part of the process HAD to be handled by check, so come prepared and get ready to travel!! read more

U.S.P.S. 3400 S. Carrollton Ave Nola 70118 Today at 12:12 pm I went to get my passport at 3400 S. Carrollton Ave 70118. My paperwork had been done professionally prior to coming to the Post Office, My photo was taken at Walgreens, I had my Birth Certificate, SS Card, and Drivers License. Larry 30 year employee (as that's what he told me) was the person that waited on me in the Passport Office. By the time I left I felt violated and was diminished to tears, he was manish, and every word had a sexual undertone while he sported a wedding ring. He proceeded to tell me "I like you and there is nothing you can do about it". He held me hostage in his office even going so far as reaching across his desk to grab me. I just wanted to remain calm not cause any further aggression from Larry and leave. What concerned me is that he joked about having all my information if he wanted to see me again. At the end Larry did not put my passport in an envelope like he had done the Asian man before me he put my information into the drawer and told me that he would mail my information when he got ready on his own time. I tried to call the office 504-482-9262 the line just range an hung up then I tried to call the complaint number at 1-800-275-8777 I could not get a human even after stating it was an emergency. Absolutely terrible service. If I could give them a zero, I would. Representatives on the phone are always rude. They're always in a rush to get you off the phone. I'm constantly passed around between employees. This branch still can't seem to get their act together with delivering mail. I don't get consistent mail and I've lost packages in the past. I tell people who mail stuff to me to not use USPS. Also, I've been trying for months now to correct my issue with my mailing address not showing up in their own USPS system. Terrible! We have not gotten mail in over a week. Not even junk mail which we normally get PLENTY of! I went to the station to complain and our regular carrier happened to be there. What a coincidence, she was "off" all the days I mentioned and someone else had her route. They said that there simply had not been any mail for any of the EIGHT apartments in the complex we live in. They are holding up checks, W2 forms and other important things because someone is too lazy to do their job. I sent a message to USPS online today. Sad that I will have to pay for a P.O. Called ahead and the person who picked up was extremely rude but I went anyway. I arrived about 30 minutes later at around 9:40 am (normal hours are from 8 am- 12 pm) and they apparently decided to close more than two hours early. The lady (who I assume is the same one who answered the phone) was again extremely rude and aggressive with such a bad attitude I'm shocked she even has a job. I don't understand the bad reviews since I always get excellent service here. I just got back from applying for a passport and have only good things to report. Mr. Larry Ellis took care of us, and the experience was exceptional because he is so personable, friendly, and efficient. Even when I've come here just for mail service, it's been pleasant, even with long lines. And I love the convenient parking. The only negative is the occasional grumpy patron in line complaining because, well, they have to wait in line. Is this the source of the poor rating for this fine P.O.? I think people just enjoy complaining about government services. We'll be sorry when they all shut down due to lack of support. read more

Today Sunday December 9, 2018 the USPS has lied about not being able to make a delivery to gain access to our home at 4:25pm today for an important Prime delivery from Amazon. Our uptown home just off So. Carrollton Ave. has no fence or gate and no problem whatsoever walking up to our front door. Lying, lazy, laid back employees who need to be terminated from their positions. This is not the first time they have reported not being able to access our property. Last month they reported that at 2:23am no one was home to receive the delivery. Strange but the USPS has never rang our bell or attempted to get a signature for a delivery even at normal delivery hours. Amazon needs to use UPS or Fed Ex for their deliveries. read more

Let's just say New Orleans needs to update the inside of all of their post offices Uptown. They're just meh, BUT they do have ample parking and a convenient drive thru mail drop. I was perturbed that the USPS only tried once to deliver my package and that is why I ended up here in order to pick it up. The highlight though was the extremely pleasant employee with a little music player that has water in it that leaps to the beat. This entertained me while he quickly found my package which he offered to help me carry to my car. Thank you kind sir. Welcome to the worst post office of USPS. The male staff members are sexist and mistreat the female customers. Mr. Larry plays loud music so that he cannot hear the customers. I was there to rent a post office box. The keys never worked! I paid for it online and was there to pick up. The female staff member said "What box number?" when I told her I paid for a new box online. I was there nearly 4 times for a post office box I paid online. The keys never worked and I was told to return the NEXT day. I don't have time to keep returning to the post office. Stop advertising the post box rental if you don't have the proper staff to make the service happen. To add insult to injury, the staff members do not wear face masks. Also, Mr. Larry permits customers to cut in line , adding insult to the other customers who have been in that looooong line much longer. Horrible. I sent a package from the CA post office and USPS tracking showed the 35lb package arrived at this New Orleans, LA 70118 post office on 9/8 @ 4:27am. To be delivered 9/8/16. The mail carrier never delivered the package to the addressee. USPS.com site on 9/10 indicated pkg delivered 9/9 @ 7:07pm. REALLY. SINCE WHEN DOES A POST OFFICE THAT CLOSES @ 4pm DELIVER A PACKAGE @ 7:07pm AT NIGHT!!!???!!! I read many reviews about post office in New Orleans where customers say the post office indicate pkg delivered by not actually delivered. How does one write a review about the Post Office? I don't know this is my first time doing so, So I will do the best I can. This post office is conveniently located on Carrollton Ave, Really good for people in Uptown and Mid City.The shipping rates via U.S mail tend to be cheaper than UPS and FED EX. I will admit that the staff is not that friendly but they are government employees so it is understandable. They do tend to be rather speedy get you in and out in a hurry. I guess that is important if you have that whole "time is money" mindset. You can also get your own P.O box here to. They are really important if you want your mail to be more secure. If you are a stamp collector than this is obviously your favorite spot. I don't know how much stamps run nowadays given the fact I rarely ever go to the post office. The post office does money orders too. The money orders from the U.S post office are cheaper than western union or other competitors. The best thing is that you can put all the money on one money order instead of having to split it up like western union and the like. In short this place is good for shipping,stamp collecting,P.O boxes and money orders. But don't expect too much overflowing kindness from the staff. read more

Fairly convenient location, ample parking, not huge lines, friendly and helpful workers. I think it is usually the incompetence of other customers, and not the inefficiency of employees, that make post offices irritating. (Perhaps I have just come to appreciate the unique tempo of life in New Orleans, and not what seems to be a debilitating lack of common sense on the part of many of its residents). If I could give this place negative 5 stars I would. Right before Christmas, I practically had a never ending battle to get my packages delivered. The postman who had our route would scan out packages and list them as delivered... But not deliver a single package. I had to go there everyday to actually get my packages. And Only One(1) Log in parcel package Scanner is in use inside the Station for all the on-duty postal worker(s) to use To Log-In All Packages and the Device doesn't have a means of identifying the postal Station Employee that Handled Or Logged In The Packages .Which is convenient for when the mail piece is Lost Or Stolen, Delayed, missing, pilfered, damaged or thrown away it well be difficult to trace matter back to the employee responsible and this issue and i hope not Policy Is Known to the Customer Service Person. An apology may be provided or an excuse concerning the vast amounts of mail that is handled may be provided as well to justify why a valuable piece of mail some how was lost into the postal station void by a confused postal employee had placed a mail piece inside another postal customers post office box , mail box or " NOT AT ALL ". When their is an issue concerning any and all mail piece(s) contact USPS.COM or telephone 1-800-275-8777 to file a formal complaint , not before obtaining the names , dates and times of day, of all the postal employees you spoke with as well as the postal station manager's name and the phone number(s) to the customer service person, at the station, and the work related email address to that employee as well. I wish I could give this place zero stars. Legit the slowest USPS store I have ever been to, and that's saying a lot as they are all slow as hell. The best part was watching a woman skip the 12 people waiting in line for 20 minutes because she knew the worker. Super fun times. Post office from hell. The carrier throws things and yells at my dogs, who are behind a very secure fence, because they bark. Their barking and doing their job intetupts his phone call. YOU ARE WORKING. Manager is belligerent. They straight up stopped delivering my mail because I told him to stop yelling at my dogs. Most incompetent people ever. Numerous lost packages. I finally took an 'official' survey and left some comments through the website from my recent receipt, but I wonder how much USPS will take mine into account because it was generally negative, hah. I'll lay it out short and simple PROS: - You can rent PO Boxes - they have a Passport office - plenty of parking space if you drive, also pretty close to the RTA bus stop - convenient location for Uptown and Mid-city folks CONS: - NOT ENOUGH WORKERS UP FRONT, or perhaps the issue is NOT ENOUGH efficient, well-mannered, professional workers. Yeah I know government jobs aren't the best... - Clerks and other postal workers are unfriendly at best, rude, irritating and infuriating at most. Some of them either seem to have hearing problems or don't have a good grasp of English - Closes too early on weekdays for my tastes, 4:30pm?! I usually never have high hopes when going into a govt-sponsored agency such as the DMV or what have you, so this about met my expectations. Two apathetic workers manned the stations and did the bare minimum to get people in and out in a timely manner (even more timely since they didn't chat with anyone!). I suggest bringing your own pen, since they only have them behind the counter and not where they usually are in other post offices. But, the lady who helped me was nice enough and was efficient after I gave her my small package. Overall, it went okay. read more

In the past we have frequently been rather disappointed with this post office and with the postal service we have received in 70118. I had a package that was supposed to be delivered this weekend, but it didn't show up. When I looked up the tracking, it said that I had refused the package and it was on it's way back to the store. We weren't even at home to refuse the package and it didn't require a signature, so they should have just left it for us. You can imagine I was very frustrated. I put in a complaint on the USPS website, and was pleasantly surprised to hear from Leslie Brown the local Customer Service Supervisor. She not only emailed me, but called twice to reassure me that my package was not in fact going back to the store, but was going to be delivered today. I was very relieved and especially grateful to Leslie for taking the time and energy to investigate and let me know what was really happening.
