I had to visit the US Post Office in Wheeling because of a piece of undeliverable mail. The note attached to my mail was of no help. Our postal carrier necessitated my visit to the post office. Once I arrived, I had to wait in line. When I got to the front of the line, my issue was resolved in a timely manner. read more

They have got to be the worst post office in Illinois!!! Three times in the past, when going out of town for a week or so, we had our mail held with delivery of that held mail to happen the day after arrival. We had copies of emails from the USPS confirming the mail hold with delivery to occur upon the date requested. All three times they failed to deliver our held mail necessitating three separate trips to their location to retrieve our held mail. No apologies any of those times. Our most recent incident (that we also have email confirmation of our request) was just another disaster. Because of the three previous poor service experiences, this time I went to retrieve our held mail on the day it was supposed to be delivered only to be told that there was no held mail being found for us at the post office. When we arrived home we discovered that all the mail that was supposed to have been held had been delivered and was just crammed into our mailbox because it was NEVER HELD!!! We have no choice but to continue to receive their abysmal service since they are our designated post office. No wonder they have only a one and a half star rating!!! read more

Waiting for a package to arrive at a cluster mailbox at my residence. When I checked the tracking number here is what it said: "We were unable to deliver your package at 6:28PM on January 12, 2023 in Wheeling, IL 60090 because the business was closed." SAY WHAT!? This is a residence. read more

I have been here several times and the staff is so BEYOND RUDE!! I dread going here it's multiple woman that work there and they have the WORST attitudes you would think they were angry prison guards (no offense to guards they have very stressful jobs) I have no idea how these women were ever employed anywhere..ever!! Sun (the cashier) needed to take a chill pill. I just went in to report that I didn't get the mail which has my replacement card(which I was asked to do by my bank-after someone used the replacement card fraudulently). She started to be scolding me that if they don't have they don't have it. I just wish she could have just listened why am I there, I am not expecting to get the said mail-- I'm just there to report it, maybe they have a reporting procedure, if not she could have just said they don't have it. read more

Horrible service, now I understand why they have such horrible reviews. Went in this morning with pre-paid labeled packages and I told the lady I needed a receipt because I've had packages lost from the post office before. She had an attitude saying I had to get the receipt from usps online?? That she couldn't scan one by one, I only had 9 packages and they all had labels she literally just had to scan. She said she couldnt scan one by one if there was a line, I was the only one there. I've been shipping stuff for a while and no one had ever told me this? My old post office would scan them without giving me attitude and gladly give me a receipt. She didn't even want to do her job I was the one putting the packages on the scale for her to scan and she was throwing the packages on to the cart. Why do I need to be doing your job? I just moved to Wheeling and I'll be going elsewhere because the service here sucks. The lady with short hair and glasses was the one who "helped" me. If I could leave zero stars I would. Awful post office. Constantly have my mail sent to the wrong address or just not delivered to my address at all. Then when you try and get the lost mail back it's the worst experience. I've also had multiple packages that were actually delivered obliterated bc they shoved it into a small mail box instead of walking 10 extra feet to place at my door. read more

Every time I come here there's an issue. They never have enough people on staff to help. I went to grab an envelope to send something and then waited in line because they don't have pens anywhere else. I was the second and only other person there. And he took so long assisting the woman in front of me (who had two small children running around the small lobby) that there were now two more people behind me. When I got to the counter he asked if I would step away to write out the envelope and wait for him to help the other people. Never mind the fact that I just waited ten minutes for him to help the woman in front of me, he can't give me two minutes to write an address? I told him never mind and that I would go to the UPS store. Just a good reminder of why I do not use the USPS when shipping anything. read more

One day, I come home to an eviction notice on my door. The office had never got my rent check but after everything got taken care of with the office, I found out that the regular mailman was on vacation and the fill-in mailman wasn't allowed to deliver checks. Really? How can a place hire someone who can't deliver checks to places? This post office needs a postmaster general who can actually run this place. read more

Don't. Just don't. In fact, move out of Wheeling all together if you like getting all of your mail. I've had good mail carriers in my 3 year stay in Wheeling, but really, I cannot tell you how many times I did not receive an important piece of mail or how many times a piece of mail i sent disappeared into the abyss. Most of the workers here are idiots too. There are a handful of good workers here that are personable, but the rest are like that original host for the Weakest Link. Once, I was gone for two weeks and when I went to pick up my mail, I had my stuff and mail for three other people I don't know. Let me also note that the three other people did not have similar names or addresses to mine. There was no obvious connection, but there I was with a bag full of mail, much of it belonging to strangers. If you live in the north part of Wheeling, go to the Buffalo Grove Post Office if you need to get things done. If you live on the south end of Wheeling, go to the Prospect Hts. Post Office. There's no good reason to go to this one. read more

Okay, let's talk about this post office. The selection of priority mail and flat rate boxes is slim. The sizes went from xs/s to large...nothing in between. The people who work there aren't very nice either. And here's the worst thing. They don't have tape you can use to tape the box you just bought. You have to buy their $3.49 tape. That's right: no free tape. At the post office. It's insanity and a rip-off. So be prepared and bring your own tape. read more

This is the worst post office I've encountered. Doesn't deserve 1 star. Let me start off by saying I've never sent out a package before. But I've been to this place twice with a friend who was doing other stuff. There are usually two Asian ladies at the counters but the only one I've talked to was the first one you approach after waiting in line. I told her that I've never sent out a package, and provided her with all information I had to send it out and asked if she could show me what and how it's done. She didn't show me ANYTHING. All she said was "You need to tape up the box." I asked her for tape, she said "You need to purchase it." I asked her about the tape that's always sitting out on the blue counter when I walked in a couple times before. She gave me an attitude in front of customers while saying "Where is it? Do you see any? You have to purchase." I stared at her shockingly. Fine. I purchased it. I asked her about packing my item and she just said "No." Like, this lady didn't bother to explain all her answers to me. I've continuously asked why? She wouldn't explain. So I just taped the box up that it was already in. I showed her the return papers, asked which ones do I use and what certain other papers were for a better understanding. LOL I'M LAUGHING out of shock that she said "Use the return label." She didn't point or show me which one it was. I asked which one was it. She just kept repeating herself. I had to remind her I've never done this before. She then told me it's the one that's a sticker. I showed her the only one that had a sticker and she said that was not it, that one is for UPS. I ASKED HER THEN WHICH ONE IS IT!! She finally pointed. I told her it wasn't a sticker, how do I put it on? She said I had to PURCHASE MORE TAPE!! The return label was literally 1-2inches long. I asked her WHY couldn't she give me a small piece of tape. Again, she just said no with no explanation. I told her that's a rip off, paid for the tape I already used for my box and walked out. Luckily!! I saw another worker outside and asked her for an inch of tape. She nicely explained to me that they don't give out free tape to anyone, it has to be purchased. But she went and got me an inch to post my label on my box. She told me where to put it, and what the other papers where and that I also needed to put a piece of paper in the box. The other lady didn't even bother to look at what I had and explain anything to me. So I had to reopen my box and put the paper in and re tape it. This lady was so helpful, she needs to be put behind that counter. Sorry for the long review but it needed to be said and someone needs to tell them to have better customer service. If something happens with my package, better believe I'll be going back down. read more

The customer service is beyond HORRIBLE! Do not ever go there for Passport Services. The older lady was unprofessionally impatient with my 3 years kid as she was getting fidgety while taking Passport Picture. What do you expect from the toddler? How would she know that she should not smile or, she should stand still while this impatient lady is taking pictures after picure? She was taking long deep breaths in between when she did not even know how to take right passport pictures. At one point, she said "its horrible"! And that is when I lost my nerves right there and retorted at her "Can you please be patient with my child? If you cannot do it, I will take my business somewhere else.". After that, she started mellowing down little bit. After 4th or 5th attempts, she finally was able to meet the right requirement for the passport pic but by then, my three year old was tired and she looked scruffy in the pic (we will have to bear with that picture in her Passport now for next 5 years). The whole process should have taken 15-20 minutes but we were forced to stay there for almost an hour. Overall -- painful experience; will never go back! read more

I wish I could give this post office a 0. I have never in my life had so many freaking issues with my mail. The staff is rude and unhelpful and blames customers for their staff's mistakes. Spend the extra money and ship your stuff through UPS or FEDEX because at least then it will arrive on time and no one will mess up. DO NOT MAIL PACKAGES THROUGH HERE!!! The Wheeling, IL post office is totally disorganized. I was checking a delivery update for a package. It said they tried to deliver it but they were unable to and a delivery notice with instructions were left. There was nothing left at my house and I was home at the time. I called Wheeling P.O. and was told there were no supervisors available and that the delivery was attempted. I don't know how the woman in the phone could confirm this because she never checked anything because I have to talk to a supervisor and I needed to call back tomorrow morning around 6 or 7 a.m. Totally unwilling to try and help me in any way read more

When I went in everybody was friendly. I found them to be extremely helpful. Was expecting a package to arrive by Friday so I put down my work address. It didn't arrive in Wheeling until Saturday when the business was closed. The service at the Wheeling, Illinois post office is simply disgraceful. Today I was in-line for over 10-minutes while 3-different employees of the USPS -- at the counter -- all took their time as they stamped and tried to log-on to the system. Then, despite being in-line for over 10-minutes, a Mexican family comes in and stands behind me. Within 1 minute the very person who couldn't bother to help me or even say anything to me -- by the way, not a single USPS employee of the 3 at the counter even acknowledged me while I stood waiting -- promptly called them over for their passport service; never bothering to simply take care of me first and then attend to them. I called the manager of the Wheeling USPS and you know what she said '... I know who these employees are ... this is a problem at the Wheeling IL post office ... and (she) intends to speak to the issue.' read more

Let's get this straight: The USPS is a COMPANY. It used to be given a government mandated monopoly and money straight out of tax payers pockets, but that has changed and they now need to make their money from stamps, shipping, etc. because they don't receive federal tax money anymore. They don't act like this though. they treat customers like they are scum and if they do help you they will make sure you know that they are doing you a HUGE favor. They don't even see the people who choose to mail with them as customers, I know this because a postmaster specifically told me that I was not a customer. GANGBANGERS - BEWARE! We are currently having delivery problems at Sienna/Avalon - the packages ARE BEING CONSTANTLY STOLEN - delivery status shows delivered to locker boxes but they never arrive. Looks like the masterminds of this criminal procedure is Edgar and Cindy (Manager/Supervisor), I had visited the Post Office 6 times within the last 2 months - they laugh you in the face, Cindy said that they don't get paid enough and if I don't like USPS I may not get any packages anymore... Edgar will "get back to you" - he never does he does not seem to do anything at all... That is a true terrorist organization in my dictionary! I Live on Valley Stream Drive, Wheeling IL and the postal route people here are the worst postman I've ever encountered in my life ... I've lived here 15 years, never sent a rent or mortgage check from here ever, because they can't even get the right mail in the boxes with our names written right across the mailboxes, at least an inch high typeface. Still can't do it.. Why? because they can't read English that's hand written, that's why. Number two, January 21st this snotty @#$%^& postal worker drops a package at my front door, she has two options; (A) in the mud or (B) on a stool there that's dry for the packages to be set upon.. This post office is not very good...they aren't friendly, are hard to understand, and don't give fast customer service. I have been ignored a few times waiting in line just to get stamps.
