My wife, nine-year-old daughter, and I walked in on a Friday in September to renew our daughter's passport. Even though they have walk in hours at 9am on Fridays, we made an appointment for 10am online. Right away, Cherry helped us. She was very patient and kind. She took our daughter's photo, copied a few documents, and walked us through the completed application. We were on our way within 15-20 minutes. This USPS is inside the National Postal Museum in the building that's the first federal building named after a woman. It's spacious with all the things you'd expect- stamps for sale, greeting cards, etc. It's right next to the Union Station Metro.

I finally called the customer service line because my mailman said they could put a trace on the package. The hardest part was due to my eyes. I had to enter the tracking number. I did get a wonderful employee named Dora. My package is being returned to me. She doesn't know why but the return process started (coincidentally) July 2nd. She signed me up for text messages so I can get texts regarding my return. It will be very convenient. She also offered to connect me so I could order more stamps when I said I need more. I rather go to the website and select what I like. I find that is a very convenient service too. I guess I'm just glad my mission for today is accomplished! I'm still a fan of USPS since childhood.

Their credit card machine was broken when I was there, and they said it wasn't policy for them to offer some packing tape to seal up a package. They did go ahead and do it, to their credit, but Fedex doesn't act like doing that is a favor. The bottom line is that the private shipping companies are just better for most purposes.
