    the inside of a coffeehouse

Was in the North Shore and decided to stop by this cute coffee shop for some snacks. What's unique about United Strangers Coffee is that aside from offering food and beverages, half of the coffee shop is stocked with local goods that you can purchase. Products range from coffee accessories, frozen good, package snacks, home goods, decor, and more! What a great way to support local vendors! And they are kid friendly too with area right in the middle to play house and keep busy. In our visit we tried their chicken pesto panini and lemon cruffin. Both were just perfect as a mid afternoon snack and not too heavy! Will have to return again to try their coffee next time!

Such a cute little cafe nested in North Vancouver! They had so many Christmas decorations and even a inflated Santa on the roof. The place overall looked very pretty. We stopped for some coffee on a Sunday afternoon and it was perfect. Their cookies looked really good so we grabbed one of those as well. I would definitely recommend trying them. They also seem very safe. There's hand sanitizer available at the entrance. They have a max occupancy of 10 but there is no indoor seating at this time. They have some chairs out front and a bench, but we just had our coffee in the car in their parking lot. United Strangers is also a little shop with some coffee related items and some local crafts. Some of the items seem a little bit overpriced but it's fun to browse around. I had a pleasant time and would definitely like to go back sometime :)

We stopped by United Strangers after a day on the mountain and were oh so impressed by this cute little cafe. We got a cappuccino and it was done perfectly. Seating during covid is only outdoors and their washrooms are also currently closed during this time. Along with their drinks, they also sell a variety of local goods as well as organic products. I was particular impressed with the ceramics that were on display. All in all a great place for coffee and shopping, and I will definitely be back!

I picked up a gorgeous glass with the Twin Lions mountains that once again connects this cafe to the North Shore.

I thought I had died and gone to heaven lol. I bought an epicurean cutting board. Add well. The pictures will show it much better than I can but from now on when I need something kitchen related, I know where I'm going. I also noticed that some of the items were as good quality, if not better than some of the major stores and the price prices were sometimes even less expensive. You can't beat that. I found out they also gave cooking classes there as well. Staff were friendly and helpful. The store was well organized and clean. There is free street parking in front.

We had drinks while we waited (delicious mango Italian soda for me and my friend; wine for others). We ate a delicious sample of mango chicken salad because that didn't require cooking, and then the next day, our fees were promptly refunded in full. So all in all, a lovely place to be when the power is on! Pro tip: if you've come with someone else, get there early so you can sit together!

They also stock plain white spoons and bowls and saucers too. They also carry brands not found in the usual departmental stores or Walmart, so it is a good place to browse and see what will catch your fancy. I managed to get some good quality loose cutlery at about $1-2 each which is way better than those I saw in Walmart and cheaper than The Bay. I will definitely pop by again when I am in the area. And I have been doing so at their Lougheed Town Centre store locations since I moved into this area of Burnaby, back in 1995. Their current store is bright, well-stocked and laid-out, and bigger than the one at their previous location in the Mall. And as always, I find the staff helpful, informative, and do their best to answer questions, and assist with one's purchasing decisions. I often get the urge to try some new-to-me 'cooking things' in the kitchen (in an attempt to escape 'boredom' of the same old, same old, and etc.), and so much-appreciate how Ming Wo brings in products to "tease" one to try them!! Most-recently, for me, that has been two pieces of Emile Henry 'Flame' cookware (first a tagine, and then a large casserole dish). With the Christmas holidays on the way, I'll bet there will be a visit or two to Ming Wo's for some gift ideas, and something new for our kitchen too!!

Chef Glenys shared a lot of useful tips, also all the right tools to use for different cooking methods, ie the pressure cooker and different types of whisks. I really enjoyed how the chef shares where she gets her local meat and produce so if we liked how it tastes, we can have more options to shop locally.
