I rented a van to take my family & in laws on vacation, spent $750 on the van rental and thousands on a cabin. Picked up the van & the roof was caved in. Do not rent from this business if you expect to be treated kindly. My mother is 67 years old. She rented a van for our family to take on a road trip for her birthday. We rented from the 19th to the 22nd of July. My mom made the mistake of putting the 22nd when we actually needed the van until the 23rd. When she was informed of her mistake she responded to Tony and apologized profusely, he ignored her message. My mother understood she would have to pay for the extra day and mileage. When returning the van on the 23rd, my mother asked to speak with Tony, the general manager, to apologize and show him a few issues - as the van was indeed falling apart. The main thing she wanted to inform him of was the fact that the steering wheel would shake rapidly when the car hit 60mph. Tony responded by yelling at my mother and told her the issues were fine. Tony continued on about how the van was late and that is the issue. Tony stood 6 feet from my mother yelling and refused to hear anything she had to say. Tony continued on and on about how people were waiting for the late van but then made the mistake of mentioning the people had not even landed yet. However, Tony still continued to berate my mother until she cried. The van was returned clean (hand washed and vacuumed) and full of gas. I have filed a complaint with the state and reached out to the company's corporate office in California as Tony was claiming to be the owner. No individual deserves to be treated less than human due to a minor mistake that truly caused no major inconvenience since the next renters were not even in the state yet. read more

I was left a email on a Sunday with inconsistent threats to cancelu reservation. First it was I need for you to call about reservation, I have questions. Second time was I need payment. A week later it was I need a copy of you Driver's license. Last call a week after the day before rental , on late Friday when I was out having dinner with family, I was left a email about he had gave away my rental and did I want a smaller Van. I was trying to rent a van to transport my large group around while we were in Vegas for the week. I booked through the website months in advance no problem, it said I wouldn't be charged until the day of the booking, cool. A few days later I got an email asking me to send my card information either by replying to the email or over the phone. I knew right away I wasn't going to do that. I'm surprised anybody has ever done that for them because that's just How to Recognize Phishing Scams 101. I kept getting emails saying their inventory was getting smaller and I needed to provide information now or my reservation would be cancelled. I had reserved a 15 passenger van one month prior with a company established at Las Vegas McCarran Airport. When I arrived to town with my co-workers, the the rental agency did not have any vans available. They were apologetic and THAT'S IT!!!! I contacted United Van Rentals and luckily they had a van available. I told them my situation, they were sympathetic and offered me options to my situation. They recommended the 15 passenger van and they would remove the last row of seats to accommodate our luggage and trade show gear. I drive rental vans all of the time. These were by far the worst! We rented several for a week long event. At least 1 if not 2 had to be returned for safety reasons. The special one I drove for 9 days smelled like a@@. The windshield wipers were in need of replacement so when I went to use the wipers, smear. The van rattled like it was about to fall apart. When I dropped it off and told the guy the wipers were not good, I got a grunt. Soooo I just left without the rest of the list for him. Obviously not concerned. Called United Van Rentals when I arrived at the Las Vegas airport. I spoke with Tony who verified my reservation and said to call back when I got outside to a pick up area. I called back within 10 minutes and Tony came to pick me up. That was all fine. The exterior of the van was in good condition, the interior however was about as clean as a Cheap Motel room. It had tissue and papers stuck in the seats and not the cleanest smelling. They should of at least taken it through a full service car wash before renting it to me. Anyway it got us to our destinations OK. Tony is not the friendliest guy around he drilled me about not having my insurance card on me and whined about having to wait ten minutes till my insurance company faxed it to me. He is a jerk putting it nicely. Oh and then guess what, he was not available to shuttle me back to the airport after dropping off the van in the motel parking lot and putting the key in the drop box. No return phone call even. I spoke with a lady at the front desk she said she wasn't surprised and this happens quite regularly. The motel made sure to tell me they were not affiliated with United Van Rentals and called me a cab and I made it to the airport which cost me another $20 bucks. The worst!! We rented a van for a couple of days. Their office is located inside an Hotel like around the corner in the first floor so they leave their cars in the hotel's parking lot. This guy inspected it before we took it and gave us the keys. When we returned it they had no one at the office (even on a weekday around noon). So I called the main office in Irvine and told me to leave the car in the parking lot and leave the keys in a box they have at the lobby. We did. Major mistake was not taking pics or videos of the car when we left it. A MONTH later they "email" me an estimate for repairs needed to be done on this van. I called the same day half an hour later and they tell me the person who emailed me is not available anymore. I called every day for several days and nothing; the general manager (who I was supposed I had to speak with still unavailable). They said I can try again, mmm no; I told them instead they will hear from my lawyer. I got a call in less than an hour from this guy who told me we were held responsible until they took possession of the car. So even when it was IN their property it was still our responsibility. What was I supposed to do? Sleep inside the freaking car until the next day? Or pay an extra day until I find someone who could take it? He said it was on the contract. Major BS! He also said they give their customers the chance to talk to their insurances. Really?? You want me to pay more for my insurance just because you want your car fixed? When it wasn't even our fault? AWFUL! AWFUL! There isn't enough room in this review for me to list all of the negatives about this company. I explained my need to carry 10 persons and a TON OF LUGGAGE. At their urging, I rented a 15 passenger van. THERE WAS ENOUGH LUGGAGE SPACE FOR ONE LADY'S PURSE!! My contract has me "out" at 1645 hours. At 1200 hours at the "end" of my contract, I was called and threatened with arrest for stealing the vehicle if it wasn't back in 15 minutes. They rented it and needed it back before my time was up. The final bill which I could not control, shows them charging me BY THE HOUR for an employee waiting for me to return. The hourly charge was for time during normal (if that's possible) business hours! Plus there was a $25 charge for delivering another van to that customer. THEY DO NOT DELIVER!!! I returned the van with 2 witnesses because I feared for my safety, feared that they would claim that I did damage to the van, and feared that they would claim the gas tank was not full. I took pictures when I arrived at their hotel room office and had a tape recorder going in case it was necessary. That is how comfortable I felt doing business with them. Be smart.
