What a fun and exciting time! Yes, it's a touristy area. It's a place to people watch and enjoy all the craziness. There's a ton of shopping and eateries. UNDER CONSTRUCTION? Universal City Walk is an interesting place, it's always on the cusp of being torn down or threatened to be replaced but it's such a classic, how can it be? Stocked with plenty of food spots spanning from fast food to sit down eateries to donut shops and treats galore. You'll find a Hello Kitty Cafe & Store, Voodoo Donuts, Starbucks, Buca Di Beppo, Pink's Hot Dogs and ALOT more. Add the huge amount of gift shops and specialty shops and you cal spend hours here! My personal favorite spots are the Nintendo Store, Universal Studios gift shops, and the NBA Store. There's soooo much merch and tempting options. Come prepared to spend, yet practice self-control. Lots of the hubs in CityWalk are pricey, don't expect cheap finds, it's a tourist spot after all. Not in the mood for shopping? There's a movie theater smack in the middle of the action. My parents told me it's gotten a little run down as of late, but it's still open for reason. They have large screens and it's a Universal staple. CityWalk is mostly known as the gateway to Universal Studios Hollywood. You can walk right up to the Universal gates once you reach the end of CityWalk. Some people come in and out of the park to have lunch at CityWalk or an end-of-day dinner. I highly recommend both options. Overall, CityWalk is kept clean and the pavement is consistently power washed. Some shops have better service than others, but I've never really had a terrible experience at any of the stores or eateries. My only gripe would be the industrial food court area. It's a little dated. I've also noted construction, I really hope greed doesn't win and we get to keep CityWalk! I've been coming here since I was a kid. read more

So many memories at city walk. It's been a part of special occasions, date nights and good times. Parking elevators drop you off right by the chocolate emporium used to be Hard Rock Cafe back in the day. Specialty shops and restaurants with entertainment around every turn. Staff are very helpful with assistance. Parking areas are easy to maneuver through. If heading into the theme park keep heading west. I actually really adore Universal City Walk! They have all the cutest stores and good restaurants you can try!! It has really nice places for treats and kid friendly and adult. Decent service here and lots of selections to choose from. They have sales at the NBA Store and shoe palace most of the time. Good values and fun times!!! AMC is here and they have fast food restaurants as well. I usually come to city walk after visiting universal studios or before to grab food!! This is a place to go to if you want to have fun with your children or date night. This has always been the best spot to hang growing up when they had Saddle ranch but now it's more calm. Visually, superior to Downtown Disney. Selection of shops and eateries, I cannot say the same. I've gone to Disney more, so apologies for the constant comparison. Parking varies if on if you have a pass, if you're just going to the theme park, and if you're going to do validation only for City Walk. Though, it's pretty cool that it's reduced after 5 PM (technically you can do this for Disney, and , but it's after 7-ish instead). The scale of everything and the neon lights, and photo ops are much more impressive. Great to look at, at night and this was the location of my senior prom. Wish I had the intellect to just wander around City Walk instead of being forced to be in one of their event buildings only with some of the most cringe people I've met in my life. But I digress. Dining options are tad more limited with more desserts and quick service, standard fast food chains (probably the craziest Raising Cane's I've ever seen), and a couple of sit down restaurants. Neat that they have a Pink's since it's so closely tied to Hollywood history. For shopping, they do have a bunch of businesses that you can find at your local mall like Lids, Hot Topic, Shoe Palace (lol), Tilly's and much more. I think for the must stops and unique shops, it'd be the Sanrio and Hello Kitty Cafe, that chocolate emporium place (insane name), the Line Friends shop, and of course the shop that sells all the merch from Universal Studios. Due to the distance and the cost, it's not a place I'd go out of my way for, but if you're already at Universal or it's after 5 PM, it's worth it as a tourist and to explore. read more

I wanted to have diner here but I didn't care for any of the restaurant choices. Not too many to choose from. So we ate near our hotel in Burbank. We left the park early and decided to go over to the City Walk, don't miss it! Super cute with lots of restaurants for dining and a massive food Court upstairs, if you want a quick bite on the run! I love all the specialty stores there.... such as the NBA store, I had to buy a Lakers jersey with my favorite player, Luka 77! The prices not bad compared to Universal! I don't know how parents do it these days with the price of souvenirs, food, drink! Save up so you don't miss the experience! We found the chocolate emporium which is a steam punk theme! We met Thomas the bartender, I love a bartender who makes you feel special from the time you seat down until you leave! The happy hour was perfect! A glass of Chardonnay for $8. This is an amazing place to visit, sightsee, shop, and eat lunch or dinner. It reminds me a lot of downtown Disney. Make sure to check out parking before you go. A good plan is to use the Jurassic parking area (valet parking). You can get your ticketed validated at any of the main restaurants for 3.5 hours and the price is only $15.00. The most striking thing we noticed was the actual beauty of the architecture of each store. Even raising canes was amazing. Each store like Bubba Gumps and Margaritaville are really decorated nicely. We ate at Margaritaville and they have excellent food. Antijitos Mexican restaurant has some of the nicest decor i have ever seen. We plan to eat there next time. So many other shops to explore like It's Sugar and the gigantic chocolate emporium. We came here on a shuttle bus from our hotel. It was a quick ride. CityWalk has a variety of restaurants. I am familiar with most and have eaten at most of those. Not too many were appealing to me anyhow. They have Pink's Hot Dogs which I love but then they had KFC and Buca di Beppo!? Just doesn't seem to flow in my opinion. To each their own. I browsed through some stores and I did not buy anything. Everything just felt blah. I am more used to the Citywalk in Orlando which is a lot bigger and has more variety of everything. Universal Citywalk in Hollywood is nice to stroll. I don't think I would come back next time I am in Los Angeles. There are too many other great places to go. read more

It is part of the Universal Studios entertainment and shopping complex that includes the amusement park, restaurants, shops and a movie theater. You will need to use one of their parking structures. You can enter the Universal Studios complex via Lankershim or Cahuenga Boulevards. At the time of my visit the fee was a prepaid $10 a day for standard self parking. I love Universal City Walk! It's a fun area with it's own vibrant & Vegas-esque food court. Universal as a company drives me absolutely mad, but this shopping, eating & entertainment district is well put together. I'm here all the time for the AMC movie theater. It's annoying because the parking lot can be a nightmare sometimes, especially during Halloween Horror Nights. Also, they used to just let you show your ticket for $5 parking when entering. Now they have this convoluted system where you pay $20, then AFTER your movie you have to stop at the box office to get $15 back. I understand they need to prevent people playing their system, but this is most definitely not the way. Actually, I haven't been back to City Walk since they started this practice 6 weeks ago and we had to go through it on two separate visits. It was a disorganized nightmare so I hope they fix that bit. But anyways, I used to always come here for movies and eats, plus some park time. Aside from the movie theater, the shops are mostly all Universal themed like a cute Sanrio shop and another Super Mario one. However they do have some others like the NBA Store (a media partner of Universal), a LINE Friends Store, a Dodgers shop, socks shop, Hot Topic, Sephora, Shoe Palace, Lids, movie collectibles and comic book stores, there are a lot of fun shops. Foodwise, a lot of nice sit down restaurants like Antojitos Cocina Mexicana, Toothsome, Margaritaville, NBC Sports Grill & Brew, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Wasabi, and Buca di Beppo. Slice House by Tony Gemignani is one of the newer options for quick dinner eats. The food court is also a full of quick dinner options with a Panda Express, Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, Pink's Hot Dogs (very minimal options compared to the main location but still a LA classic), a poke spot, Firehouse Subs and the Habit Burger Grill. Snack options like VooDoo Donuts, Cinnabon, Wetzel's Pretzels, Ben & Jerry's, Starbucks, Menchie's, and Hello Kitty Cafe offer bits and bites to satiate the more indulgent side of food. It's been years since I've been here and I was surprised about some of the changes. Parking after 5pm is only 10 bucks but before that time it's costing you 40 bucks. I had walked over from the Sheraton Universal hotel and was confused on how to even enter the area, they need clearer signage. You can't just stroll in you have to go thru a security gate as if you were going to Dodgers stadium, I was what the hell is going on. Mexico just won Czechia in the World Cup and there were many Mexico fans here. There's even a security check point for the parking lot, the whole thing is a bit confusing and not sure why such an increase in security it was never like this in the past. read more

It's become an airport-style security nightmare alienating all but those already going to the park. It now can take another 15-20 minutes to walk from your car (that you paid $5-30 to park), get funneled down hallways into a security line, empty your pockets into a bin and security scanned and wanded down by some rude teenagers, then have to walk the ENTIRE length of the citywalk to get to anything as they've cut off any access other than the checkpoints. God forbid you have a movie to make or a dinner reservation. It is faster to drive to Sherman Oaks than to bother with this outwardly hostile place now. I'm not a particularly big theme park person. I've always found it difficult to get full value out of a single day, and the pressure to see and do everything can make the experience feel more like a checklist than a good time. CityWalk avoids that problem entirely. What works here is the accessibility. You get the atmosphere and energy of a major entertainment destination without paying for theme park admission. It's compact enough that you can comfortably explore everything in one visit, yet large enough to offer a solid variety of dining and shopping options. I had visited in the past and remembered several stores that did very little for me. Returning recently, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the newer additions. Places like Raising Cane's feel more relevant and help make the overall lineup stronger than I remembered. CityWalk isn't a destination that demands an entire day, and that's part of its appeal. It's easy, convenient, and delivers exactly what it promises: a pleasant afternoon or evening out without much effort. The only reason it's not a 5-star rating is parking. The line to park does not differentiate between CityWalk and theme park visitors, meaning that whether you're going to Mario land or running late for a movie at AMC, you'll wait the same amount of time. read more

We found it a nice place to grab a quick snack and some beverages after a long day hoofing it at the park and if you feel compelled to drop two Benjamins on a Shohei Ohtani jersey there's the Dodgers store -- and don't forget LeBron at the NBA outpost. Cool place to walk around and do some shopping and dining. Universal CityWalk Hollywood is a retail district that is an expansion of Universal Studios. There are around 30 stores, 30 eateries and a movie theater featuring IMAX. It has a cool water fountain in the center that is worth checking out. The CityWalk's central plaza is topped by a large dome that was constructed by the same people who constructed Biosphere 2. You don't need an admission ticket to Universal Studios to visit CityWalk. Some places here will validate your parking ticket. TV show Access Hollywood does some filming around here. I remember seeing Mario Lopez do a taping here back when he did the show. Most of the shops and restaurants are places that you would find at any mall. Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and Bubba Gump Shrimp Company are themed restaurants that have been here for some time. I used to like going to Karl Strauss Brewery back when they were still here, but it looks like they closed. Universal CityWalk is a fun place to walk around and enjoy some dining and shopping after a day at the theme park. Especially at night when all of the neon lights are on. read more

Day or night, Universal City Walk is a must-visit destination in Los Angeles. It's a great place to hang out with friends or family. I visit pretty frequently and, as a Valley native, have been going for years but I still find new things to do every time I go. They have a varied selection of retail and dining locations and a couple of leisure activities like AMC Theatres and Escapology. It can get a little pricey as it is part of Universal Studios, but it still can be fun to walk around and window shop without having to spend any money! Parking costs vary depending on the time and day you are visiting. My favorites places within City Walk are Menchie's, the Sanrio shop, and the movies. This is the 2nd time in 10 years I've visited; The first time it was fun, the food was good, & parking affordable. Parking is now $35, and rather than open up the lower floors or even fill the empty spaces they force one to drive up to the upper levels... Unlike other theme parks, the walkway is pretty narrow, but being as we went on a Tuesday it was empty enough to have a leisurely stroll. Most all of the shops are expensive and closed until the mid-afternoon, with a basic tee-shirt priced at $37 . Most all merchandise is Universal merch and mostly all repetitious of what is in the park... The restaurants are mostly well known chains: Bubba Gump's, PF Chang's, etc. After a long day in the park, City Walk, with all the lights, shops crowded next to each other, & noise, it was sensory overkill...
