Mountain Hardware, Prana, and Sorel were other brands sold at this store. We were able to get things for the whole family like jackets, tops, shorts, pants, and hats from Columbia and Mountain Hardware. Everything was at least 40% off with some items that appeared to have a bigger discount. Access to this store is easier to get than other employee stores. We got our entrance pass through AAA. It's also offered to Oregon Zoo members and Columbia rewards members on specified dates. The customer service was 4 stars with readily available people ready to assist.

So I ventured to the store to do a return to avoid paying return postage. Upon entering the store, I wondered if they were closed. There is no one there! Worse, all the previous cashier stations are gone and no associates anywhere to ask for assistance. I wandered through every section of the first floor, past very dated looking clothing, and finally found an associate in the makeup department. She explained that online returns, and all purchases, are handled back by the shoe department. Plus just one other location on 1st floor and one cashier on 2nd floor. Well, I guess if there are so few customers, this makes sense, but it does nothing to contribute to a positive experience to create repeat purchases. Sure enough, I found the cashier, and the few other customers, all perplexed, wondering if this was where they should be paying for their purchases. My return was processed, after 10 minutes of very challenging system issues where they could not locate my order, and with manager assistance, th3 return was completed. I purchased a pair of Sketchers while there. As I made my way to the other end of the store to exit, the alarm went off and I realized they didn't cut off the sensor. So back through the entire store again. Definitely got in my steps, but that wasn't the point of my visit.

Not sure if they are outsourcing to a different screening company that they bought? In any case this is not the kind of company that I will be continuing to do business with.

I explored the store for about half an hour. They have lots of World Cup 2026 merchandises. I was looking for sporting shorts and found some I liked in Adidas section. The prices were slightly higher compared to Adidas' website. Some of the staff members I talked to were friendly.

After discovering the store overcharged us for 12 items due to a system pricing error, we rushed back before our flight to get it resolved. Instead of a quick correction for *their* mistake, we were met by staff who had absolutely no sense of how to handle the situation. They represent the store, yet they completely detached themselves from the problem and showed zero care or urgency to resolve it. The staff's handling of the situation was abysmal: -ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY: We were forced into a massive, 30+ person line. When we asked to use the empty employee lane because of our tight flight schedule, we were bluntly denied because we were "regular customers." -TERRIBLE ATTITUDE: Staff repeatedly told us there was nothing they could do and explicitly stated that if we missed our flight while waiting for them to fix their error, *"that would be our responsibility. -DISREGARD FOR CUSTOMERS: A simple refund took nearly an hour, causing immense stress and almost making us miss our flight. The staff here is rigid, dismissive, and entirely lacking in basic empathy or problem-solving skills. Absolutely unacceptable.

Do not shop with them....HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM MIKE (owner manager or whoever that is). I have been a very loyal customer of Universal and I have purchased so many products over the years. Just to put in perspective what type of buyer i am: Since 2014 i spent: $3800 and $1500 (last 12 months). All returns excluded and they are a very minor percentage of my overall purchases. Sometimes when I shop, I will put a few items in my shopping basket considering that the store doesn't always carry those products on floor and it's hard to tell which size will fit me. So I will often times purchase items of various colors and sizes and return the ones that don't fit me. Except that today as I placed a few orders for various shoes (5 pairs of shoes at $150/each varying in sizes and colors and some ring pliers for $18 was planning on buying) and I receive voicemail from Mike who told me that he had reviewed my purchase history and said that it would be a "waste of time" (I am not kidding you) for them to be fetching and returning products for me because it was time intensive (as if me trying those out an the store would have been any worse specially considering that now your sales associate has to help me instead of being given the luxury to fetch those products from an online pickup order). As I was writing this email I decide to just call and speak to the supervisor who happened to be Mike that day. So I explained how insane his request was coming from an online store, Mike Just didn't understand my point despite my various attempts (with me speaking very politely thinking Mike might get it) and the phone call somehow dropped off midway our discussion (i waited for a solid 30 mins thinking that Mike wouldn't want to leave such conversation midway), my online order was also cancelled (not by me and without my request) and I never heard back from the dropped phone call. So let's just look at another angle (for the business savvy folks) I was planning on buying a very expensive Mtb shoes on my lunch break @$150 (full ticket price) plus another $20 item for a total cost of $170. Let's assume now it takes an incredible long time (1 hour) to fetch those shoes from your shelves and another day 10 mins for the return (70 mins total). So $170/1.167 hr=$101.2/hour worth of wage: with that it' pretty clear you would have made a profit despite all of that effort to fetch stuff off your shelves. But that profit won't be realized because instead I will buy the shoes elsewhere. Lastly, before you harass your customers for their "terrible" intentions of buying your products you may want to review your return policy because nowhere in your policy you have a clause for not allowing such type of returns which means you have no grounds to be making such phone calls. Anyhow, if you shop there be sure to know they DO NOT like you to overbuy products because Mike thinks it's a waste of time to fetch those products for you. read more

Absolutely the best experience yet purchasing a higher priced item online. Mark and the people at Universal Cycles are the BEST! I was a little hesitant making such a major purchase from a shop 3000 miles away so I called them. Mark picked up after maybe 20 seconds and he answered all my noob questions at 9:30 Eastern Time. 30 minutes later I ordered a Salsa Horsethief 2 and it arrived in 6 days in very secure packaging for very reasonable shipping. The bike looks amazing. I brought it to my LBS and had them go over it and get it setup. They commented on what a nice bike it was. I brought it home and the ride is incredible. I can't even believe I own this bike. I sit and stare at it. Full suspension is so much fun. I got an absolutely incredible deal (half price). So I ordered my wife the Salsa Horsethief 3 a few days later and once again Mark was great during the ordering process answering all our questions. Again we got a killer deal on a 2013 leftover in the box for half price. This allowed us both to get bikes we would never dream of owning. Thanks again! read more

I just bought a helmet from them online. I had been looking for this helmet for ages, and bought it from 2 different sellers on Amazon Marketplace but both those sellers sent me the wrong size. Finally I found Universal Cycles and explained my problem with the previous sellers. The sales guy Schmitty got the warehouse to show him the package before shipping, and personally ensured that the correct size was in the box. I got the helmet last week and love it. Visiting this bike shop was a great experience. Yesterday, I dropped in to get parts for a dynamo wheel build. My interaction with Billy, the staff member, was excellent. He demonstrated exceptional expertise in recommending the ideal components for my wheel build. His suggestions on the perfect hub, rim, and spokes were spot on. What impressed me even more was his meticulous attention to detail, particularly in advising the precise spokes and their exact lengths. Just picked up my wife's Cannondale Topstone after having some much needed upgrades to the cassette and rear derailleur so that her bike had the gear ranges best suited for loaded touring in the mountains. The guys at Universal did a great job of pairing components to make the bike shift flawlessly. They also upgraded the brake rotors and pads to make the bike better suited to braking on descents with a load. Kudos to Billy for all the work. read more

Go ahead, find a set of barbells between 15-30 pounds. Go ahead, find a spin bike that can be delivered to your home. I was on a wait list for mine for about 6 months. Find a mountain bike. I'll wait. I thought, I'll find one that is from a big brand, that has a lot of stock, and just order it. I did my research and settled on the Trek Marlin 5, for a lot of reasons that are important to me and only me. Then I went to my local shop to order it. They were attentive and sat down at the computer with me and said, ya no. That's backordered until end of the year. It's April now and I don't want it in November. Left disappointed. I went home and searched Trek bikes in ever widening circles from where I live, and guess what? I found it, at Olson's Bike shop in Forest Grove, 24 miles from my home. I had given myself a limit of 150 miles, so this was pretty good. I called and left a message to let them know I wanted it and went to bed hopeful. When they opened in the morning I called again and the owner was funny. He said he was super busy but yes he had the bike. I said, I'M ON MY WAY. When I got there I walked in and there was a young guy putting a bike together and the owner behind the counter and he took one look at me and said, Marlin 5? I guess I had that wild look about me. The young guy got it down from a rack, I gave it a kick in the tires, and then we put it on the card! Getting it in the back of Sarah the Blue Fin Tuna (my mini cooper) wasn't as hard as it could have been, because the front tire comes off real easy. With disc brakes getting it on and off is a breeze and they made sure I knew how to do it before I left. I liked this shop, I liked the men working there, and I liked the way they treated me like a local customer, even though I'm not. They made it real easy and I was comfortable there. I would return for all my bike needs if it was closer to my home.
