The first message is very welcoming and they already tell you what packages they have with the prices and even extra services like termites and general pool inspection. No need for back and forth messaging asking for prices or your number for them to call. I checked their reviews and that's it, I decided I want their services. I messaged back and her reply is almost immediate at a very strange time. I think I messaged her late at night. I just copied and pasted their message to my agent and there, appointment is set. We chose the platinum so the sewer inspection will be included and additional pool and termites. During the inspections, the 2 inspectors came on time. Home inspections took about 2 and a half hours which is really good coz it means they check every detail. They delivered the findings verbally and the written report was sent to my agent and me the next day. I don't even know how to share to you the result because there's a lot. We received our report later about 9 hours after our inspection was complete (and received our expedited mold report a day later), and the report is very thorough and easy to read. Once again, if you want the best inspectors and best customer service, this is who you want.

After the Palisades fire, I hired Haztek to address light smoke and asbestos dust in two areas of…read moremy home. The owner, Ami, presented himself as highly experienced with wildfire remediation and repeatedly warned me that other companies--and even my insurance--would not protect my family. I have two very young children, and I relied on what he told me. Only later did I realize that most online reviews were from people who had phone consultations, not verified wildfire remediation customers. During the project, Ami also told me he was receiving many referrals from my then-State Farm adjuster after I introduced them. Without my knowledge, he brought a public adjuster to my home and was seen on my doorbell camera discussing all the work he received since that introduction. I never consented to my home being used in this way. Haztek initially sent my insurance an estimate over $160,000. After they learned my policy limit was $100,000, the estimate dropped to $84,000, and I was asked for a 50% deposit. I later learned this deposit structure is not allowed for this type of work in California. After work began, contamination increased dramatically. - Initial asbestos levels around 1,000 structures/cm² rose to over 100,000 structures/cm² in the same areas. - Lead levels that were originally within safe EPA limits (one area at 3 µg/ft²) increased to as high as 69 µg/ft² after a chimney sweep. Visible ash remained around the fireplace, in a room labeled as a clean area for furniture. When I asked about the visible ash and the results, I did not receive clear explanations. We failed two clearance tests over two months, each showing higher contamination. While this was happening, extensive demolition occurred, without permits or testing for lead/asbestos despite our home being built in 1974. This included drywall, hardwood floors, cabinetry, tile, and bathroom fixtures. I only discovered it when my doorbell camera showed my toilet sitting on my doorstep causing me to drive home and find total destruction. When I asked why I hadn't been notified, the explanation I received didn't match the dates shown on camera. I was told demolition was due to mold. Two licensed mold companies later performed moisture testing and confirmed there was no moisture problem. The demolition caused major damage to my home. I also have footage of appliances being moved in ways that damaged surrounding floors * Dust/Ash remained on multiple surfaces after work was marked complete. * When I asked what justified their costs being so much higher than companies like Servpro, no specific differences were provided. * PPE usage was inconsistent. When I was present, it was used; camera footage on other days I wasn't showed workers didn't. * Several items labeled "keep" went missing, including irreplaceable baby keepsakes. Smart devices they claimed were non-cleanable later appeared active and used at a different location, with streaming accounts still logged into and used. * Reported work hours didn't match what was captured on camera. Haztek demolished our HVAC closet, which contained popcorn material. No containment was used. I have photos of this material falling into the HVAC system and return ducts. Afterward, asbestos levels in nearby areas tested extremely high. This demolition was not part of the original wildfire or asbestos dust scope. By the time I understood what was happening, our insurance benefits were nearly exhausted, and our home was left with higher contamination and heavy damage. We ultimately discarded nearly all belongings. The impact on our family has been significant. Haztek advertises expertise in asbestos, lead, fire, and mold remediation. When I checked the CSLB website, the listed license showed a general contractor license. I was not able to locate: * A C-22 asbestos abatement license * CDPH lead abatement certification * IICRC fire or mold remediation certification If you are dealing with wildfire or hazardous cleanup, I strongly recommend verifying all licenses with the appropriate agencies, using independent third-party testing, avoiding large upfront deposits, and confirming all scope details in writing. I hope sharing my experience helps someone else avoid what we went through.

So I had second thoughts about using this company because I read some bad reviews and oh boy was I wrong. I used another company to do my first inspection and there report was not what I expected so I thought about getting another inspection done and comparing both reports. From ordering the Inspection, Inspector being on time and answering all of my question on site was already a huge plus for me and my husband. This is not our first home that we purchase but the price is up there so we needed to make sure we getting a good structured home. As soon as I saw the report and compared it I was shocked. Our Inspector found several leaks in the crawl space and on the roof. Since it wasn't safe to go on top he used his drone to look and take pictures. Here are the pictures for everyone to see the professionalism of this company. I don't understand how the other company I used missed all of these issues. Brett deserves 6 stars, but Yelp only allows me to give him a maximum of 5. When my offer to buy a home was accepted, I called Universal Inspect because of their favorable Yelp reviews, and Brett returned my call promptly. I was under a very tight time-frame to get a general inspection and a sewer line inspection done. Brett accommodated my schedule and showed up with some pretty fancy equipment (a drone to inspect the roof, a robot to navigate a tiny crawl space, and a camera to explore my sewer line). His report was thorough and has allowed me to negotiate more effectively with the seller. There were also some more specific inspections that I needed performed on the house and Brett scheduled and arranged all of those for me. Everyone he recommended was as excellent as he is. Moving from out of state I was faced with the task of finding an inspector for our new home. Obviously our realtor gave us a number of choices, but I've never been keen on using deal breaker services based on realtor recommendation. Our property inspections came up as a top choice along with two others so I compared reviews. Then I called. Joycelyn answered the phone, we talked, set up the inspection after giving details of the home and out of state status for the following week. Foot 50-year-old inherited home in South Orange County. We are currently performing our due diligence in preparing the property for sale, and investing in this type of specialized inspection is simply the smart thing to do. From start to finish, Tim was fantastic. He was on time, friendly, and highly knowledgeable. What we appreciated most was his communication style--he handled all of our questions with absolute ease, explaining the technical details in a way that was clear and easily understood. When we received the final report, we were blown away by how comprehensive yet easily understandable it is. Rather than a simple pass/fail summary, their reports are incredibly detailed and leave no stone unturned. They include: An room-by-room physical and visual assessment breakdown. We did not have every single room tested, but we tested any suspect areas where we could see there had been prior leaks. Moreover, their thermal imaging equipment can spot leaks that we could not see. Detailed ambient indoor air sampling alongside localized outdoor baseline controls. Advanced wall cavity core sampling to actively look for hidden moisture issues. Direct surface swab testing of several suspect areas. Exact diagnostic tracking data, including localized relative humidity levels and digital moisture-meter readings. Yes, humidity over 5k or 60 percent makes mold grow. You need good air circulation as well as good dehumidifiers when you live close to the ocean. Clear photographic documentation with matching room diagrams and structural descriptions. We knew of several areas that absolutely needed testing. And Tim was great in suggesting what areas we might want to test for hidden leaks based on his thermal image readings. He also pointed out where such tests were not needed. What makes this company unique is that they are true, dedicated environmental specialists. Because they literally have the inspection process down to a science and utilize top-notch, highly calibrated equipment, their operation is streamlined. As a result, their pricing was extremely fair and competitive--in fact, their rates were actually lower than some generic, non-specialized home inspectors we looked into. While initially we planned to have 1 company do all the environmental testing, we found it was less costly and better testing to go with specialists rather than "we do it all companies". It was a super-smart decision. We went with Mold Sci (Tim) for the mold testing and a 2nd specialty company for the asbestos and lead testing (Enviro Diagnostics, Costa Mesa). If you are buying a home, selling your home, or managing an estate property, we highly recommend both companies we worked with and would hire them both again. I explain to him my situation, and he was very understanding and came out quickly, and was extremely knowledgeable. He explained everything to me in detail, and did his sampling with two way-- quickly confirmed with a tape pull that there was in fact black mold. Lab results come back the very next day at no extra cost, which is also some thing that I was finding to be rare with other companies. She is going to get the sample to the lab and a full report done for me so that I can take this to an attorney and present my case, in order to file a lawsuit against my building.
