Universal Joint has a Greek twist on a lot of their menu items. We started off with the Universal Joint fries which has cheese, bacon and homemade ranch. These were very delicious. The ranch was incredible. We also had the pimento cheese which was good, it came with roasted red peppers, bread, and some other vegetables. My my meal I had the fish tacos which came with chips and salsa. The fish tacos were great. They were cooked very well and had a spicy aioli sauce with them. We come here often as it's wildly close and convenient. The patio is dog friendly and enjoyable in the summer. The food just barely crosses the line over "meh", but with bar food you can't expect too much. The service is always subpar, few employees seem happy to be there nor are they in any way attentive. This was our first time at Universal Joint. We will definitely be back. It was seat yourself, so we grabbed a spot on the back deck, and were greeted right away with menus. Our server was upbeat and prompt, and was able to answer some questions we had about the menu. Started with the grilled avocado appetizer-YUM! My husband had the blackened fish tacos, and said they were loaded with mahi mahi and delicious. I ordered the black bean burger with the firecracker topping and it was excellent. This place has been on my list for quite a while now and I finally had the chance to actually go and try it. And when I say I was NOT disappointed, I mean it. I'm a huge fan of lemon pepper so of course I got the half order of lemon pepper wings with fries. In the next picture is a order of the smoked wings which they only have on Mondays! The amount of seasoning and love they put into those wings were remarkable. I didn't even have to bring my own lemon pepper seasoning in the smoked wings also fell off the bone with ease! I had the Cran-Turkey sandwich on a Gluten Free bun with tots. This is a hot sandwich, and to be honest, the sauce is what makes this sandwich, and it is quite tasty. We also had the Avocado Fiesta and it was also very good. Again, it's all in the sauce. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich. While the chicken salad was good, they serve it on toasted bread which is different from expected. Her bread was a bit too toasted for her liking, so we have to deduct a few points for that one. Great atmosphere. Parking is limited. Dog friendly as long as you're willing to sit on the patio. Gluten Free options. Altogether, this is a great place to have lunch. read more

If this restaurant had a negative 5 star rating, it would exceed the score of a ngative negative rating. I thought it was a gay friendly establishment because of the rainbow flag. I even spent time with Haley & Caleb who've been responsible for helping the restaurant's outreach to the gay community. We had a great evening together. Today when I came back, I was treated with such disdain, even after bought shots for them, that I wondered what I did to be blown off and dismissed by them. MEAN GIRL BAR DO NOT GO HERE. The menu had beers that were on tap in the past, the present, and coming soon. If you go prepare to decipher that bad boy. All good choices they were just not all available. Once we secured the brews we moved onto the food menu. You could say they had food for everyone.... It's Universal... Joint. The food came out at an incredible speed. I think I only blinked 3 times and was staring at a delicious lunch. Although quick, the food's quality was not diminished, it was delicious. I was kind of confused when I first drove up and into the micro parking lot of four awkward parking spaces crammed together on a steep incline. I later found out that it wasn't really intended for customer parking, there's a larger parking lot in back that you don't have to squeeze into. The restaurant itself was a fun garage style open space leaning towards the hip tatted crowd. Not completely hipster but leaning towards that casual vibe. The staff is friendly, fit the vibe and are very laid back. A little more interested in talking to each other then filling our drinks but still very friendly. I did like the people and was ok with waiting on drinks. My friends not so much. The menue was great, lots of salad options, burgers, wings and delicious finger food. The two friends I came with grumbled a little about waiting for drinks but that negativity disappeared as soon as the food hit the table. Delicious.. It's a casual place so go in with a casual mindset, be patient and you won't be disappointed with what really matters, the food. I do recommend this place. It's pet friendly, family friendly, has a nice open air outside space to enjoy a beautiful day and the food really is on point at a reasonable price. read more

I've been here a bunch of times. I live near the restaurant so it's a convenient place to go. That being said the last few times the wait staff seem incredibly not interested in well, being servers. Each of the last few times I've had to go into the bar and ask to get a server after waiting like 20+ minutes. One time I went in and told a bunch of the servers i would pay the first a big tip to the first one who would serve us. It literally took 2-3 times of me saying this before someone begrudgingly said yes. Then that server gave me a look when the bill came. Of course I tipped them really well but still, it felt weird. I'm not the only one in the neighborhood saying this. Management needs to say something or do something. This neighborhood is a HUGE supporter of this place. Last visit was six months ago: brisket was moist and succulent, Mai Mai tacos were delicious. Present: brisket nachos: tortillas were soggy when we got them, brisket was dry and not much of it. Fish tacos: bland and taste like frozen. Verdict: food quality went DOWN! I did enjoy sitting out on their patio as the sun was setting though, and they get bonus points for being dog friendly. The prices were also reasonable. The menu also has an interesting selection from gyros to tacos to burger. It would be a good choice if you are eating with a group who can't decide on a particular kind of food. I love the menu here. So many options that suit whatever you are craving..I love the gyro wraps (I replace gyro meat with grilled chicken). Also, the fish and chips are awesome! Great atmosphere and very convenient if you are going to an event at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The staff was very friendly and aware that we needed the check quickly to get to the event. An awesome place for locals! I have never had a bad experience here and take almost every out of town guest I have here. My favorite is the buffalo chicken quesadilla and a side of tots. Their chips and salsa, burgers, pimento cheese, and universal fries are all top notch in my humble yelp opinion! Outdoors is great and on a nice day you are def going to be waiting a little while for a seat. Seating indoors is limited when weather isn't permitting, but it usually isn't too terribly crowded when weather is raining. Great beer options that switch out in a pretty regular fashion. The parking is abysmal, and the only reason for a four start review. Especially with the new bowling alley next door. I have never had a problem parking across the street but with all the extra traffic I have even struggled finding spots over there as well. UJ is a great spot and I will continue taking out of town guests here to wow them! Bonus you can also bring your dog which is always awesome! read more

Love this place! Great chain that I initially was introduced to in little cute town of Clayton, GA. That location is probably still my fav due to awesome local bands and amazing bartenders but too far away to regularly drive to this days. Anyway, back to Greenville location. Attentive servers who keep your glass more than half full - a huge thing to me so major props. Menu selection is great and food is always tasty. One of those places you go regularly, yet forget to review on Yelp?! A fun, friendly place that's a great neighborhood hang-out and also a fun place to take out-of-town guests, AND that gets you a little away from the crowds of downtown. Casual atmosphere with big garage doors to create an indoor/outdoor space when weather permits. We like the burgers here and also the wings, especially the lemon pepper flavor. On Mondays, they smoke the wings! Get 'em while quantities last. They offer other specials on other days. Full bar with several local beer options, and usually a reasonably priced wine available (although I'll confess I find the wine pours a bit short sometimes). Lots of TV's, in and out, showing the various games - which, as you might, guess, means U Joint can get a bit crowded on football Saturdays. Good service by very friendly people who work here long-term, which is always a plus. The one negative here is parking. They have only a few spaces on either side of the restaurant, so parking is across the street, and now across the street and caty-corner, behind Bo Stegal (as of January 2018). This is actually a regional chain, with a location in Asheville, a few locations around Atlanta, and a couple other locations also. If you see a Universal Joint in one of these areas - give them a try! Recommended! read more

This place was great overall. Parking is in the back and was a little confusing and kind of sketchy with it being nighttime. There aren't any clear signs for waiting for seating as it turns out you seat yourself. The ambiance was beautiful and the customer service is alright. The food was great and tasted amazing. It was a bit pricey for what you're getting, but I guess that's kind of standard for places like this. The service wasn't much to be desired, but most of our needs were met for the most part. I think it'll be a nice little hang out spot in the summer because the outdoor seating is phenomenal. Solid 3.5 stars. read more
