After waiting what felt like two years for this place to open, getting to experience one of the Preview Days was worth every minute! Universal truly created something special for families. From the moment we arrived, everything was incredibly easy. Parking was simple, well organized, and the walk from the parking area to the entrance was short and stress-free. One of my favorite surprises was seeing how conveniently the hotel sits right next to the park. We can't wait to return for our overnight stay because everything is so close and family-friendly. The employees deserve a standing ovation. Every single team member we encountered was smiling, welcoming, and genuinely excited to be there. It didn't feel like they were just working a job. They knew the characters, stayed in the spirit of the park, and made every interaction feel magical. My daughter was dressed up, and so many employees stopped to compliment her and our whole family. Those little moments made our day even more memorable. The food completely exceeded my expectations! We loved everything we tried. The burger was juicy and delicious, the ice cream was phenomenal, and the Shrekzel (Shrek pretzel) was absolutely worth trying. There are so many fun themed snacks that become part of the experience instead of just being something to eat. The gift shops were another highlight. Everywhere we looked there were adorable backpacks, totes, keychains, buttons, apparel, and collectibles that felt unique and almost limited edition. If you're someone who loves souvenirs, plan to spend some time browsing because there are so many fun finds. Now for the only downside, and honestly it wasn't Universal's fault...it was HOT! Texas heat is no joke. We also had to remove our hats before riding, even though ours were securely tied under our chins. I understand it's for safety, but it's something to know ahead of time. A few tips: * Wear light-colored clothing. * Bring an umbrella for shade. * A cooling towel or misting/squirt bottle is a lifesaver. * Take advantage of the splash pads throughout the park because they are perfect for cooling off. I also really appreciated that Universal offers a military discount, which made this experience even more meaningful for our family. Universal Kids isn't just a theme park. It's a place where kids get to feel immersed in the worlds they love, and parents get to watch those memories unfold. We left exhausted, smiling, and already counting down until our July stay. This place was not ready to open and sure not ready for Texas. They are working out a lot of glitches and still charging a hefty price for mediocre quality. For two adults and a 6 year old, it broke down to 81 plus a ticket. Plus 20 bucks for parking. The first glitch was toll tag parking- not working so they were down a lane. We started our day when it opened at 10 am. In the first 1.5 hours we had ridden 3 rides. And not because the lines were that long, they are just really inefficient at moving people on with some of the rides. Especially the water Bobbing Barrel ride in SpongeBob. It's the longest loading process I've ever seen in a ride. The good: Two decent coasters and a fun water ride. The minions Bello Bay Cruise was slow loading but one of the better rides. Several splash pads and misters everywhere to cool off. They did get that right The food is expensive, but they do have some nice dishes at least at the Jurassic court. Those beef bowls are good. The refillable drink cup. Yes it's 16 bucks but it's easy to refill because there is a cantina about every 100 yards. They let you set them down on the edges of the rides. So buy one and stay hydrated! The bad: The Golf Cart Derby broke, Shrek and Fiona broke as well so we skipped those two. Multiple rides closed due to the heat ( Mrs Puffs boating school and Jellyfish Fields) because the metal got too hot to touch. How is that not a consideration in Texas? So two more rides down The Pteranodrop was scalding early on so also might have fallen to the heat. There are only 13 rides. There was actually very few people there and lines were semi short. But it is blazing hot and not enough shade or air conditioning areas for a Texas park. I see some calls for heat stroke coming. I hope some of this is growing pains but I really don't see this being worth the money they charge for entrance, for carnival games (even more of a rip off than At a real carnival lol) especially once more people find out it was opened. Universal Kids Resort offers a fun time for the younger kids (3-8) for a full day of characters, show and rides. On our visit, tickets were $53, which I felt was fair. But I have also seen tickets for $91, which would have changed this review. For the cost, I felt we had lots of to do, we spent the full day in the park and we enjoyed numerous types of shows and attractions. As a Central Floridian, we are used to theme park pricing for food and tickets, so this was below average for a park experience for us. Our only difficulty during the day was finding out character set times. We were never able to see the SpongeBob characters, but we saw the Trolls and Jurassic World characters a lot. read more

My group of 5, 3 adults, 8 yr old and a 1.5 yr old went on July 22nd, unfortunately the hottest day this year so far. We drove up from Austin so 3 hrs one way. Easy enough to find. Parking is $20 for regular and $30 for premium. Like most theme parks any food or souvenir will be overpriced. I paid $12.99 for two regular size bottles of water. I paid $14.39 for a plain hot dog with a side of fries that were barely edible because the fries were hard and over fried. It's a mix of nostalgia for parents and new fun characters for kids. Plan to get wet at some point, most rides either have water on or around them in the minion and SpongeBob area. I see the potential for growth and better experience going forward. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The good: Plenty of bathrooms! Bathrooms were plentiful, clean, and decent size. Plenty of splash areas, which on the hottest day was the best way to cool off. There are rides for every level of fun, obstacle course in the Jurassic Park area was also cool. There are also little play areas close by with provided shade. The main gift shop is the coldest building and it is designed to let kids play, lots of sensory items around the walls and floors on their level, it was really nice to see a gift shop set up to be truly kid friendly. All around the park are plenty of photo ops as well. The not great: Barely any shaded areas and not enough seating. There are benches along the splash pads and the play places and some benches/small tables outside certain food areas, but overall it didn't feel there was enough places to rest and certainly no shade. I brought an umbrella w me because of the heat and sun and it saved me from the lack of coverage. The canteen in Jurassic park to eat is quite small inside and most likely you'll have to eat outside. The troll area as well is order on a screen and sit outside to eat but at least with provided shade. We stayed 3.5 hours in the park before calling it a day due to the heat and longer wait times for rides. Was it worth a 6 hr round trip drive, to say we got to see it, yea. read more

We visited UKR on Preview Saturday with our grandchildren, ages 4 and 6. We had a great time! The themed lands were perfect for two little girls who love Trolls, Gabby's Dollhouse and the Minions. We were at the park for five hours and could have easily closed the place down. The rides were short but that means that lines moved quickly for littles with shorter attention spans. Since this was our granddaughters first roller experience, the coasters had just enough drops and turns to keep things fun without being too scary. Their favorite ride was the Bello Bay Cruise - we had to go through that one twice. We found shade when we needed it and there were plenty of splash pads and misters to keep everyone cool. We had lunch at Goofy Goobers and our meals were reasonably priced and the food was good. After five hours, we ended our visit with glitter and face painting at the Trollify Me Experience located in the Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow store ending with a little shopping at their well organized resort store located within Gabby's Dollhouse Isle of Curiosity. We still have more to explore on a future visit: Puss in Boots, Shrek, Jurassic Park and we could have spent more time in Bikini Bottom and with the Minions. There were plenty of photo ops, poses with characters and dance shows with Trolls and Gabby's Dollhouse. Finally, the most impressive feature of the park is the staff. Without fail, we were greeted by every single staff member, even maintenance staff acknowledged our group while tending to their tasks. We were enthusiastically thanked by security and admissions staff on our way home. Don't be influenced by bad reviews elsewhere: most of the negative press appears to be posted by people who have never visited UKR. Universal Kids Resort is a great addition to our community, a wonderful place for families to visit and employs a staff of approximately 1500 people who have obviously been well trained to make us feel welcome and appreciated. read more

Preview Day before grand opening ! The place is brand spanking new. I wanted to be one of the first to attend. This park is for kids so my grandson was the perfect date. Since it was preview day everything wasn't as pricey and the crowd was minimal. Parking was only $20 and admission was 49,99 plus fees per person. There are plenty of play areas and splash areas. There are enough rides and food areas for kids. I did notice some adults beverages too. The prices for food, drinks are typical to most theme parks. I paid $35 for pizza and refillable cup. $7 for ice cream and $7 for popcorn. $15 for stroller rental. This is not Universal Orlando or Hollywood. It is for children, young children. So keep that in mine. I had a time spending my day here with my four year old grandson. read more

Very disappointed about this place. We did not have high expectations but Universal really messed this one up. Went with my wife and 6 year old. My kid had an OK time but even she thought it wasn't that great. Like glorified carnival baking in the sun. The Shrek ride was atrocious. Many rides were down, one of the water play area closed, no place to hide from the sun except the stores. Hind sight, maybe they did that last one on purpose. No dark rides, seriously? I literally counted more than 20 employees in one of the main shops with about 10 guests looking at the merch. Universal needs to do some major updates and reopen. read more

Too expensive. $20 just to park. Entry tickets are cheaper online but are often "sold out" so you have to pay the higher in person rate which just so happened to be $75 each! We drove all the way from Austin to visit on July 17th. We paid $70 each per ticket and so $210 for two grown ups and a 3.5 year old plus $20 in parking. That's $250 including taxes. We entered the park at noon and went straight to the first ride which was a water ride. We stood in line for 20 minutes and then found out that the ride was closed. Ww went to the ride next to it, the Minions Golf Cart one. Again, 15 minutes waiting in line. Then, we were seated and they announced a technical dfficulty. We has to wait 20 minutes until they eventually let us leave the ride. We are now in the park for an hour and not a single actual ride. We went to the next ride. Guess what, same experience. We stood in line and it too was closed due to technical difficulties. After two hours in the park, we could not use any of the rides. We went to guest seevices because we only had two hours to spend time at the park and asked for a refund since none of the rides were working. There was a long line for folks asking for the same with people arguing and yelling at the staff. No refunds! This was a bad experience and we won't be back. This park should not be open since it has many problems. read more

So cute. Kids loved it! Have to have kids 2-11. The staff perfect and upbeat omg. The food was great!! The beauty salon for face paint was so much fun. This place is so overpriced a little bit of ride but you can't even really get on the ride. The lines are short but they make you wait hours because they keep breaking down the ride like stopping the ride just to keep checking. The workers are so slow at everything they do checking the ride over and over and over and it's like and then they'll only fill a roller coaster with like four people in it and make you wait and it's just really dumb and lame. Things are just very expensive. The whole park was expensive and you don't even really get to do anything because the way they play around the workers literally play around. You had to wait 3 hours for food. You waited in a line for an hour and a half and then 40 minutes for your food to come to you after and then it's cold and not even worth it eating it. And I got a burger that was burnt on the outside but raw on the inside. They don't even want to fix it or give you anything new. They don't exchange it or anything. This place is a total scam rip-off and just really miserable for my time of money here. You couldn't even enjoy anything or even finish the park because you have to wait so long for a ride because the workers are so slow on getting the people on the rise and they're always saying they're broken. We went back to the Shrek ride five times. They said it was broken and then when we got to the front of the line twice they said oh you got to get off or we'll have it ready later. So that was a waste of our time too. It was just ridiculous that place is a complete scam. So that most the rides. Keep closing down. You get in a line and wait forever then.
