I brought my 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport AWD to Universal Transmission for a CVT diagnostic. After declining the rebuild due to cost, I was told the vehicle would be returned in a tow-ready condition. When I received the vehicle back, it was heavily disassembled with parts loose inside the vehicle, disconnected wiring/hoses, and the engine supported by a strap. I also discovered my recently purchased battery was missing. I also never received detailed written diagnostic findings or a fully itemized breakdown of the charges despite requesting them multiple times. I recommend getting all pricing, authorizations, and diagnostic findings in writing before approving any work or financing. read more

UPDATE: My transmission broke down AGAIN within a month of their last attempted repair. I now had no confidence that Universal Transmission would be able to correctly repair my transmission if I brought it back there. And since I had moved away now, I requested that they honor the costs of the warranty repair if I brought it somewhere else to be fixed. They were unwilling to work with me to honor their warranty in this way. So I was forced to pay for yet another transmission from a different auto service vendor. Do not take your vehicle here. My daughters vehicle was taken here with minor issues. She was told her tranmission needed rebuilding. Almost $5000 cost. Pick up the car, it had the same issues. Took it back because it was under warranty a few day, picked it up, same issues still, took it back a 3rd time then told it was something not covered under warranty and was told it would be another $800 to repair because what was wrong was not part of the rebuilt transmission they diagnosed. UPDATE ON THIS POST....VENT TIME !!! Never EVER go to Universal Transmission in Katy/Houston area. In February, we took a transmission in for repair. They said "sure! Give us a couple of weeks, no problem". They IMMEDIATELY took the 1800.00 payment. We called them every 10 days-2 weeks for updates. EVERY call was responded with either "Let me check and I'll call you back" (which they never did), or "We need another week. Waiting on parts". Finally, the first week of April they called and said it was ready for pickup. Yay, right?! WRONG! We picked it up, drove the hour back to our town to the mechanic that was going to put it in, and IT'S NOT OUR TRANSMISSION!! IT DOESN'T FIT IN OUR TRUCK! So we took it back to Universal, whose attitude was "Oh my! How'd that happen?~! Give us a week"...The first week of May .. YES, MAY...we called again for update and were told it'll be ready by May 13. No, it was not. They need another week...parts problem!!...Today, May 31, we called for update..."We need another week...parts problem"...Husband said "You know what? It's been 4 months, I'll just come get it and get my money back". They said WE CANNOT DO THIS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE PARTS INVESTED !!!!! By the way, we started this journey at Universal on 529, and they moved our transmission to their location on Little York, and now it's not even THERE!! Any ideas, people?! I do not see them on the BBB list (what a surprise). I told her our next step was to the tv stations for consumer investigation. She asked that we please just wait til Saturday. I said "We don't have much choice, do we?" My husband got a phone call this morning from the owner, all full of apologies and the like. My husband told him he doesn't want to go through all this, and just wants his money back. The owner said 'well, we can't do that. We need to complete the product repair". So.........AGAIN, we are in limbo, waiting for Saturday to see if we get it, or if it's the usual "One more week" we've gotten since February. Even if miracles DO happen, and we get it back fixed Saturday, that doesn't negate them having our 1800.00 since February, and all the back and forth we've been through, not to mention giving us the wrong transmission. We're an hour's drive from their business.....we aren't 'around the corner'. That was a wasted 2 hours on top of everything else. ***3/23/22 UPDATE*** With the assistance of the Harris County Constable I was able to get the business owner to admit that my truck was actually moved without my knowledge to an undisclosed location in Cleveland, Tx! The workers made several attempts to even try to be deceptive to law enforcement. I am now being offered to come pick up my truck at this location for a whopping $620! The transmission is still broken and this fee is being applied to a vehicle that has had no service nor repairs done. I am a hard working family man and I just want to warn anyone who is thinking of falling for this business' promise of a 'free' diagnostic. Please, Please, Please .......unless you have much patience and a lot of time and money to waste ...Do Not Patron this Establishment!!! The check engine light and an AT indicator light simultaneously appeared on my 2010 Mazda 3i around 10:20 PM Friday 05/18/18. I also experienced sudden hard downshifting. I work at night and during my lunch break, I pulled the Owner Manual to check on what this AT indicator could mean. I found this is a signal that there is an issue with the Auto Transaxle. At the end of my shift at daybreak, I checked the transmission fluid hoping it would be a simple fix such as low transmission fluid. Unfortunately the fluid level was OK so I took the vehicle to a nearby AutoZone for a diagnostic check. The code given was U0101 which indicates the Power Control Module did not receive a message from the Transmission Control Module within a predetermined period of time. I began a search for a Transmission Specialist in my area and found that Universal Transmission @ Eldridge Pkwy. offered 2-3 Day Turnaround, Free Towing, Free Rental Car and Shuttle Service with Financing Available. Good Deal Right? Called and spoke to Robert Monday morning, (05/21/18), to advise of the Code U0101 and arrange for the vehicle to be towed in for a look see. Great initial communication with Robert regarding their available payment options. I did get finance approval of 2.3k, the total cost of repairs. Although the vehicle was still in a repair status, I did hand Universal Transmission the complete payment. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!! LONG STORY SHORT... My Mazda was in repair, (???) for a Month. About two weeks in, 06/01/18, I was able to obtain their "Death Trap Loaner Vehicle...Check engine light On, Airbag Indicator On, Sloppy Suspension, Low Tire Pressure and Out of Date Tags. But I Was Desperate! Universal finally released my car on 06/20/18 with an "ATRA Engineer" recommendation to drive the vehicle for about 100 miles to allow the computer to cycle the check engine light as the vehicle exhibited the same shifting issues experienced BEFORE Universal Transmission's * Transmission Rebuild * Banner Kit * Torque Converter * All Gaskets and Seals * All Updates & Upgrades for Better Performance * Refurbish Front Pump After driving the recommended 100 miles, and before returning to Universal Transmission, I had AutoZone do another diagnostic and received the same code U0101 and now Also code P0138 which indicates that the Bank Sensor !, Sensor 2 O2 electrical circuit signal had high voltage for a predetermined period of time. I did return to Universal Transmission Repeatedly for follow up service to correct this issue and have been put off as many times. Jim @ Universal also assured me that it was OK to drive the vehicle as is as this would Not have a negative effect on the transmission. WHAT??? Suffice it to say, Universal Transmission Complete Auto Repair, LLC is NOT the place to have your oil changed much less Complete Auto Repair. Customer Service is Passive Resistant at best with a total lack of follow up communication. Once they have your money, you are nothing but a waste of their time! After moving my car then they told me I had to pay to get my car towed back to where I originally to it to which I refused to do! I brought my car in on July 5 paid $2,107 for them to replace my 2 clutches & acuator & this was supposed to be done in a few days but my car was turned in to me "fixed" on July 12 & when it picked it up my car was having issues turning on which I have NEVER had that issue & my car was making a very loud scratchy noise so on July 15 I brought my car back to the shop & they "fixed" it again & returned my car back to me on July 16 so when I was half way on my way to work my engine light comes on again & my car doesn't want to accelerate now my car is worse than how it started!!! So I bring my car back to the shop once AGAIN for the second time so at this point I have asked to speak with manager or someone who can ATLEAST reimburse me for my Uber rides bc they failed to mention that they can provide me with a loaner so I have been struggling & I have mentioned to them plenty of times & NO ONE HAS CALLED ME!!!! This place is a joke please don't come here!! I'm also attaching pictures of the loaner they barely gave me on July 26.. it's fucking disgusting.. it's so dirty & there's literally dandruff on the head rest I have been so uncomfortable! Went in to have a fluid /filter change. I had a conversation after with Luis in the office about what was seen in the bottom of pan when removed and he said there were no shavings or sludge everything looked good. When I got home I looked under truck to see if they changed gasket and removed pan and it was untouched. THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING THEN CHARGED ME. I called them up and they said they just did a fluild extraction? I told them I had a receipt for a fluild and a filter change. his reply was have a good day sir. Would you ever go to have your oil changed without the filter? I guess I fell lucky because it was just a fluild/ filter. This company should be shut down. **UPDATE** I had nothing but nice things to say about Allison Transmission and Auto Repair and had trusted them as a long time mechanic shop until recently. I had an oil change performed in the Spring of 2012 this is usually the place I go to get all my car needs serviced. I noticed a few days after getting my oil changed that I was leaking oil. I took my car back and they told me the drain pan screw wasn't tightened enough and corrected the problem. After a few weeks of driving I noticed the oil started leaking again which I returned my car back to the shop. After about a week I was notified that my head gaskets were blown and I needed extensive work done. Not knowing much about vehicles I researched online the options and cost. I was convinced by E.A. the front desk clerk that repairing an owned vehicle was the way to go and the work would be under warranty. I spent close to two thousand dollars on the repair that took several weeks with no loaner. I was happy to get my car back but my happiness was short lived when it broke down again. I returned my vehicle to the shop. Soon after I was notified that the head gasket bolts were stripped and was leaking oil all over again. The repair work faulty the first time was redone by their own admission at no cost to me. The car worked again for a short time and the problem occurred again. I was then notified the damage was too great and would not be able to be repaired. I should just junk my car and Allison Transmission offered me a few hundred bucks. I was beyond livid. None of my tows were covered and I had to use rental cars to get back and forth to work for weeks at a time. I researched the value of my car junked and got a quote of 1200 which is far more than what the owner of Allison Transmission offered. Glad to finish my business with them I notified them that I planned to sell my car to a towing company they instantly offered me a matched price. That is when I had my eureka moment and realized this is not a mechanic to be trusted. I wanted then to write of my experience but thought I might have been too biased. Until last week when my husband received several angry voicemails/calls from the owner of Allison Transmission notifying us that he needed copies of our TXDL. Both my husband and I work and have very busy schedules. When I had a moment to clarify the situation with the owner I was treated in a very hostile manner. I had to ask the owner several time to calm down and explain to me what exactly the problem was. His response was and I quote "I have already explained it 31 times why do I need to explain it again" I had to remind him that this is the first time I spoke with him and found it strange that he needed our TXDL several months after selling him our vehicle and was being cautious. Once he calmed down he told me that he had sold the vehicle and the new owner could not transfer the title. I then notified him he was supposed to transfer 30 days after obtaining the title. After a very heated conversation he then apologized stating the type of customers he has he deals with this "type" of people all the time. I wasn't sure what type of people he was referring too but it seemed like he wanted to say ghetto he unfortunately thought I was uneducated as well as timid which he was very incorrect. Simply stated this business owner conducts himself in a extremely unprofessional manner, has an extremely poor work ethic, and will do anything close to illegal to save himself a few dollars. Beyond disappointed in my treatment at this facility. I drove to Houston by myself from Dallas to visit a friend, and my vehicle's Service Engine Light came on 30 minutes outside of Houston. I brought my car to Pep Boys, and when they inspected it, I was told it was a bigger problem and to bring it to Universal..... Not only did my car's diagnosis take days longer than I was initially told (you towed over my car last Saturday afternoon and it took until Thursday to diagnose it), but I was also reassured by the manager David Peterson that he would tow my vehicle to his facility for free to get it inspected....yet I was not told until AFTER I decided I might just want to scrap my car and not pay the requested $3000 to fix my old car's transmission, that they WOULD at that point CHARGE me for the supposed complimentary tow..... I already paid them $500 to diagnose my transmission and do no extra work. I'm just baffled by the lack of communication. IF YOU'RE GOING TO CHARGE YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR THE TOW, but ONLY IF YOU DO WORK ON THE CAR, please PREFACE the conversation with that. Why wouldn't you tell me that?? I would have risked it and driven the car the short distance from Pep Boys to your shop. I feel lied to. I feel ripped off, and I'm definitely telling all my Houston friends to stay away..... *UPDATE* We had my car towed from Houston to Dallas so I could decide what to do with it closer to home, and my car just arrived in Dallas from Houston in pieces....LITERAL PIECES. When I gave it to them I could drive it, and now there are PIECES OF MY TRANSMISSION IN MY TRUNK. No one approved them leaving my car like that. We contacted the "mechanic" Robert, who then told us (FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE) that it would be an additional fee beyond the $500 to put my car back the way I brought it in?? AGAIN, WHY WOULDN'T YOU TELL ME THAT BEFORE I CONSENTED TO INSPECTING THE TRANSMISSION?? I feel so so robbed. So disappointed. I agreed to the $500 fee. I was misinformed and did not receive all the needed information. My check engine came on my car. I checked on the BBB website and saw that Universal Transmission had a A+ rating, so I decided to use them to repair my vehicle. It took 8 days for them to "fix"my car and I had to call them to obtain status updates. I work for a living where my car is essential, so basically, this business has impacted my livelihood. Once I had my car back, the check engine light came on again. I took the car back in so it could be repaired. This time, they kept my car 7 days. And they attempted to charge my credit card for a service that they did not successfully complete. So, for a third time, I will return my car (my livelihood), with the hope that it will be fixed this time without incident. Came in for transmission service January 2017 and was told it would cost $600 to look at the transmission. I paid cash, got a hand written receipt, and I told Daniel (manager) to call me with an estimate. He calls me for with the initial estimate of $5000 less the $600 so $4400. I told him to wait for repair so I can talk to my wife, and that I'll call him the next day. I called him the next day, and he said he's completed repair of the car. I told him I did not agree to start, so he starts lowering the price to $3200. When I go pickup the car the next day, he tells me one of his porters got into an accident with my car (they said it was the other driver's fault, which other driver said he was the porter's fault). Long story short, I ask for owner's contact info and he says it's private. I contacted him 17 times to get my car fixed (January to end of March). Car was left at the shop for over 1.5 months (tires went low). After which I took the car home and also inspected the transmission and found out the transmission dust cover was missing. I came back immediately and Daniel said he would not install the dust cover & claims it was missing before the repair which he also admitted that he would contact me if anything was out of the ordinary during the repair. After 3 months, Universal finally fixed my car due to the collision but with a very bad paint job/bondo work and missing/broken parts which I had to go back/forth to get fixed. Buyer beware of always negotiable transmission prices and no dust cover being re-installed. If they get into a collision with a customer vehicle, they never gave me their owner's contact information and their shop insurance to make a claim after repeated requests, so I doubt they are insured. It's also interesting that my $600 initial cash deposit is not included on my final receipt (only the $3200). read more

This place screwed us over. They kept telling us they could actually fix our car and took our money SEVERAL times. It kept breaking down even after we spend oodles of cash at Allisons. Our car was a 2003 model, so not very old, and they couldn't even fix it. We got tired of spending money so we just sold it to them. Then, they called a few months later because they didn't transfer the title over properly and expect me just to drop everything to appease them when they screwed us out of a car.
