UPDATE 6-17-24 Wishing we could give them a 0 score. The nightmare continues. We fully understand that there are times when things go wrong. The indicator of a good company is there a response when things go bad. In addition to no responses or action on behalf of Universal Windows , direct, below is the list of issues that they have not been willing to address for almost a month. We've received excuses on the infrequent times when they have responded - a car accident, broken down car, and bereavement leave. Here they are one more time, in addition to the photos: 1. Incorrect inside trim was ordered. Awaiting install of correct trim. 2. Unfinished trim at inside door jam. Needs matching 1/4 round. 3. Incorrect screen door was installed. We ordered one with the vanishing screen. 4. Outside trim does not match door frame. Matching trim needs to be installed. 5. Siding was gashed by installer. Needs to be replaced with matching siding or repaired to our satisfaction. Note: the wire that you see on the side was pulled through on the first installation. It was attached to the Ring door bell. The second installer attached the Ring doorbell without pulling the wire thru. As a result, We had to purchase a remote door bell to work with the Ring. With so many window, siding, and door people in business, one would think companies would prefer to not have this type of review. Universal Windows Direct doesn't seem to really care. ORIGINAL POST: What a ride! We were excited to learn that our front door arrived early and would be installed within days. What we didn't know is that it would take days to get the job done. Thus far, have a new door. However, it arrived with the wrong size inside molding and the wrong color outside trim. We were told the indoor trim needed to be ordered and would take 3 weeks. We were also told the installers would arrive between 1 and 3 pm, inspire of the fact that they were told we'd only be available 2 pm or later. We received a text that the crew was running behind on their first job and we'd be alerted when they'd be on the way. Well, they never showed nor did they let us know they would not be coming. Only time will tell if or when they will show up to finish the job. Oh! And there is a gap in the side of the door with daylight coming through. Let's see how they'll deal with that. Why a 2 and not a 0? Because the install crew communicated with us and wanted to have the job done right. Very disappointed in Universal Windows. read more

Our door was incompletely installed OVER A MONTH AGO due to the company ordering the wrong part. We've emailed and called multiple times only to be given the run around. We still do not have a functional front door after being told multiple times "the part has been overnighted". Buyers beware!!!! We did our research and got 4 different quotes. The salesperson was great and sold the product well. Unfortunately after his initial visit we never heard from him again. First, our installation was set and I took off work, moved ALL of my furniture in my entire house and waited, they never showed. I called and they told me they left a message the night before. I ask them on what number and they rattle off my 16 year old daughter's number. Ummmm sir 16 year olds don't even know what voicemail is and HOW do you have my child's number? They reschedule and we take off another day of work. The install begins and 2 windows do not fit. We try to talk to the installers but they don't speak English well so we call customer service and they are so rude, just awful. One of the windows they made fit by shoving a bunch of some filler in the top and the other one they say won't come for 6-8 weeks. Ok so we wait. Finally the window comes in mid April (8 weeks after our initial install). They set up an appointment to install 2 weeks later which was difficult because once again we have jobs and WORK during the day. They offer suggestions like having a neighbor come over. What? No we have dogs and our neighbors work too! We get a day finally figured out, take off work again and they call a few days before and cancel. Ughhh I tell them I need after 4pm or a weekend. They give me this big run around about how they can't because they contract out for installers blah blah. Ok so we wait a couple more weeks with no call. I finally send an email to customer service and my sales person who we have no other way of contacting. He forwards it to someone and doesn't address us all, cc's us on the email asking customer service to please take care of it. Customer service calls me and says oh sorry we were trying to figure out a weekend time. What? For two weeks and no phone call back? Whatever, we finally pick a day and my husband takes off work once again. They give us an arrival window between 12-2. 2 comes around and they are not there. I call customer service and insist on talking to a manager or my sales person or someone that can deal with these issues. They tell me there is no one. Really? There is no one to address our issues? Nope no one. I ask why doesn't the sales person follow up after their sale and he tells me they are done after they sell the windows and since MOST of our job was complete there is no reason to follow up and they don't have time to follow up with every customer! Are you serious? You want people to spend 5, 10, 15, 20k and you don't feel following up to make sure your customer is satisfied is part of your obligation. Wow. So he tells me we are still scheduled to install the last window that day and they will be there in 30-45 minutes. It is now 240pm. I tell them I am at work and my husband needs to leave by 330. They say ok we can reschedule. Just no I will NOT reschedule again. We took off work another day because we were told arrival time would be between 12 and 2. No one called us to inform that they would be late, nothing! My son gets home from school and now I have to make him wait for the window installers and not go to work. They finally arrive at 4pm!!!! Yea you read that correct 4pm 3 hours after their latest time of their arrival window after he waited around all day long!!. They put in the window, takes like 1.5 hours and expect my minor son to sign. Yeah no sorry. This was all one big hot mess and no one will even contact me to deal with it. So unprofessional. So I see an ad on Facebook and make a comment and they block me (see pic). Ummmm if you are a reputable business that does right by your customers you would not need to block people! I only gave this review 2 stars because the windows look nice but they are not up to the standards the salesperson explained. So unless you like sitting around for days and having to rearrange your house and life in order to get windows go with ANY other company. I will definitely be reporting them to the BBB. read more

DONOT purchase windows from this company. Initially we were going to have them install two patios and replace 5 windows. We canceled the patios and still went with the windows. We had them replace 4 standard size windows and one small one in the basement, and paid 5,100. I called and talked to the sales manager and he said there was nothing he could do for us. We didn't even get wood, we got vinyl which should be cheaper. Rip off, and the quality is okay. read more

Jamie was a wonderful sales man but everything since has been a lesson in incompetence and operating in an unprofessional manner. My windows were supposed to be installed on 3/6 (after a long delay which was understandable due to the supply chain). The installers said the windows were the incorrect size and recommended they remeasure so they could start on the new production. They said I'd receive a call in the next 1-2 days. I didn't receive a call until 3/11 after asking Jaime for help. The call with the operations manager was incredibly unprofessional calling the installers idiots who didn't know what they're doing. So at this point I'm very frustrated and didn't know who to trust. When I asked why there was a delay in my call he said someone else got fired or quit so he didn't have time. I said I wanted time to think about it (I was quite put off at this point) so he said he'd call 3/14. Again, no call. I had to call on 3/21 after giving it a week. I spoke to a manager who apologized for the trouble, when I asked about a discount for the trouble I was told that we should install them and then address that. She scheduled for my windows to be installed today, 3/22 between 11-1. At 1:15 pm I called to see if they would still be coming. After talking to 4 different people they realized there was some sort of "issue" and I wasn't really scheduled. So that makes TWICE that I've torn my house apart (blinds down, furniture moved, etc.) and now missed time at work as well. They had NO record of the manager who I spoke to YESTERDAY who scheduled the install. The person who I spoke to kept insisting I schedule something ASAP which, HELLO, not so easy to do when you set aside time twice for an install to find more time instantly. I asked again about a discount and was told basically that their incompetence is my problem and I would need to pay full price. When I inquired about cancellation I was told I would need to pay a fee, HA, not a chance! I'm waiting for a call back but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY THIS COMPANY. I am a quadriplegic who was looking for a 42 inch door. We began our quote process early 2021 ultimately to be informed they switched manufacturers. We retried the process again late 2021. We decided to go ahed with a 42 inch steel door with UWD's new manufacturer, which had no color samples available due to the recent change. We were promised to get samples to choose a final color before manufacturing but that never happened. Fast forward to instillation, they called to reschedule 4 times, and finally came later in the evening. The color was obviously wrong, and the installers left with 1" gaps around the encasement, a tiny strip of calk started down one side and randomly stopped, along with a bare blond unstained trim inside not to mention the overpriced wrong locking mechanism, and trim pieces on the exterior that are about 1/2 inch shy of the edge. At this point, now being 4/21/2022, I've been told by the installers that came to fix all the mistakes that we are to get a new door. I've been calling for over 3 weeks to speak with Juan or another manager, but keep being told by the schedulers that they will call back tomorrow, over and over again. At this point, I don't know what to do. I also figured, since they have to manufacture a new door, can we at least get a color option we like. Not some default color the salesman wrote down just to get "the ball rolling". If only there were an option to submit pictures so you can see all the issues. It has now been several months before I decided to write this review to give them an opportunity to make things right, but as time progresses, it is getting more and more difficult to reach anybody that knows what's going on. Unfortunately, at this point, I don't know what else to do. Below, the owner responded to me and I sent an email to the address provided but still have not heard back from anyone. Update: 5/20/2022 I have been in communication with John Paul Racin (JP) / Senior Operation Manager and have had seemingly good communication until we didn't. We had an appointment with a manager named Pitor on 5/18 to confirm and inspect all of the issues with our door. Pitor, I believe was the individual who came out to do our initial measurement and after our appointment on the 18th, he seemingly agreed that we need a new door but would not put anything in writing. I emailed John Paul about the information directly after the appointment and have not heard back. I'm dealing with the Better Business Bureau and Wisconsin consumer protection. Better Business Bureau is managing additional communication between myself and the business, and Wisconsin's consumer protection has stated that they may be in violation of Wisconsin contract law for which universal windows has yet to respond. Still no additional update as far as replacing our door. I will continue to update this thread. If Universal Windows Direct sufficiently addresses our front door with what seems to be a good product, I will gladly reflect that in future updates. read more

Just signed a contract to have windows and a patio door installed in our home. Our sales person Jamie was extremely informational, courteous, and was very respectful of wearing a mask while spending time in our home. Jamie helped us to make better decisions about how we were investing in our windows and patio door. He was very easy to work with and did not pressure us whatsoever. We cannot wait for our project to be complete but our sales/contract experience has been top notch thus far! Nice job Jamie! read more
