Came into the store and went looking around. There are so many great options for your pets. I am a new cat owner and want the best for her. I've been trying to figure it out with online tips. I met the owner patty, who has a passion for her business and what it's there for. To give the best options for your pet. We discussed a lot better methods to care for my cat. I am grateful for the care and time she took to educate me. I feel that if I need to ask a question I can always reach out to her for the best advice for my new pet kitten. Also, I read the comments and notice a few people not appreciative of her big personality.. I beg to differ. She wants the best for your pet. Some people don't like the truth or worse they want it served all sugar coated and on a silver platter while feeding you with a silver spoon. You got to look at peoples intentions and discern it. Visiting this location, gives me anxiety. The owner pushes the brand Next Level and I feel there is a bit of a bias because of a family relationship with the brand owner. On the three occasions I've visited I felt racial prejudice. I never felt like I was fully heard and my shopping experience was steered in a particular direction. I went in today and felt like I was living in an SNL skit. I had a lot of time to kill while waiting for my tire services across the street and my phone was dead. As soon as I walked in here it was such an odd vibe for a pet store. Really creepy decor and it smelled like wet barn. I heard the owner yelling at someone on the phone about how a vet in bixby knolls is crazy and how the person she was speaking to shouldn't "EVER GIVE HER DOG THAT TYPE OF FOOD UNLESS SHE WANTS TO KILL IT" I knew I had found my entertainment and time killer. As soon as she was off the phone I thought yay my turn! So I asked her about cat food. It was immediately clear she was an intense conspiracy theorist and anti vaxxer. I rage baited her for a bit and got some great quotes out of it. I am inspired to start doing improv/stand up just to use her as a character. I'm an actor so in someway this interaction will live in my heart and character pocket forever lol. Good-- the store is very clean and has a wide selection of pet food. It has high quality food and I can tell that the owner cares very much for the animals and pets. Bad-- The owner is probably a Trump supporter. She has stickers on her register making fun of Gavin Newsom, other political stickers that makes me assume she is conservative. (one time when giving me a plastic bag, she told me she didn't care if Gavin Newsom made a law for no plastic bags). Had she separated her politics from her store, I wouldn't have ever known and probably continued to shop there. At the end of the day we live in a free country so support small businesses and whoever you feel like giving your money to. I will not though, as I am very against Trump and this administration and the unlawful things happening in our country. To reviewers saying she chases you outside her store when you don't buy things; that is true and has happened to me. (Or she'll just stare at you from the door and attempt to look intimidating). To the reviewers that said she was racist: one time my boyfriend went into THIS establishment with a raiders hat on, patty admitted "I love Jon Gruden I don't care what he said" then proceeded to talk about the season while checking us out. I had to ask my boyfriend who that was after because when she said that to him his eyebrows raised I couldn't understand what had just happened. (He was a coach who got terminated for discriminating against African American players and calling them slurs). In another situation there was an older gentleman in front of me wanting to buy a 30lb dog food mix, when he brought it up front she told the man "oh next time call me before you come in to get this brand so I can know to stock up more for next time" (he's not in inventory nor an employee so why would he have to do that?) man seemed already irritated with her so he didn't respond back which you could tell got to patty because what happened afterwards was this man paid for his food and when she gave him his change back he was like "wait a minute I'm $20 short." He grabs the money from the counter and starts counting it, she LITERALLY grabs the money out of HIS hands and starts counting it back to him saying "I'm REAL good at math don't worry I'm REALLY good at math". Turns out the guy was wrong, but there are ways to go about it. Instead as he walked away and I approach the counter she scoffed and said "men!" as if I would agree: I don't. These situations have happened in a 3 year span. All in all I haven't returned in 5 months and don't plan on it. Nothing in this review is fabricated which hurts me to say because I LOVE the gentleman that works here he's always so welcoming, funny, kind, and informative in a way that doesn't seem like you're suffocating. read more

She is not just the owner--she's a true canine nutritionist who is unbelievably passionate, dedicated, and knowledgeable about what she does. I've never met anyone in the pet industry who cares this much. Before finding her, I had been in and out of the vet for three weeks straight. My dog was going through severe GI issues, constant discomfort, and I felt completely lost. Nothing the vet gave us was helping, and the final straw was when they wrote her a prescription food diet. Out of desperation, I called Pet Pantry to see if they carried the prescription food. That phone call changed everything. Patty didn't sell prescription foods--but instead of just saying no and hanging up, she took the time to truly listen. She even turned down multiple customers who walked into the store just so she could help me figure out what was really going on with my dog. Who does that anymore? Patty does. I don't know if she doesn't like young adults but seeing how she talked to older adults compared to me and my boyfriend was very different. Talked to us like we were dumb, but all we had was questions.... we've tried just to go for the sake of our dog because the dog food she recommended is amazing. But I don't think I feel comfortable here, she is very knowledgeable and advocate for pets, her attitude and the way she spoke to us was not the best. I've been a customer for a little over 5 years and my min pin's health is thriving because of the dog health tips from Patty the owner of Pet Pantry. She's shared tips regarding best food and treats to feed him. One of the best tips has been applying coconut oil with a baby nipple to his teeth to help with his breath and teeth cleaning. I had a very disappointing experience with Pet Pantry. The owner was quick to refund unopened Victor dog food I already had at home, stating she could easily get her money back. However, when it came to Next Level dog food that she sold me--food that made my dog vomit and refuse to eat--she would not issue a refund and would only offer store credit. I was also repeatedly pressured to continue feeding this product despite my dog getting sick. The inconsistent refund policy and the lack of concern for my dog's reaction are the main reasons for this review. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business. read more

We love this pet store ever since we found it. The owner, Patty, is so passionate about helping animals and educating the owners. She has a phenomenal wealth of knowledge with her background in being an animal nutritionist and dietitian. When I was fostering a rescue dog until my mom in MS could adopt him, she went above and beyond with her expertise. The first time I came in, she recommended the perfect food for him based on his history and age and gave me the first bag of food for free since he was a rescued foster. She also took my contact information so she could help my mom locate the food in her area. She sent me the details after she had researched and found the information. We deeply appreciate her time and patience. She helped us so much with the rescue dog. I had told her about how bad his breath was and the thick calculus build up in his teeth. His previous owners were neglectful, only feeding him human scraps and not brushing his teeth. I mentioned how the vet quoted $2,000 for a cleaning + $300 per tooth extraction so we were going to have to wait a few weeks until he got to MS because it would be cheaper. Patty reassured me it's a scam, canines in the wild don't get extractions, the teeth fall out naturally. Told me now that he's on good quality kibble, the teeth will fall out naturally and the calculus will also start to come off. Less than a week later, his bad tooth fell out on its own, not a drop of blood, just ready to come out. I bet he feels so much more comfortable now, and the foul odor is gone. I was sent to see Patty at Pet Pantry in Signal Hill for diet suggestions for my 5 month old cane corso. He had digestive issues and not a very healthy looking coat with red skin every now and then. One visit to Pet Pantry, I follow the feeding instructions for my transition to Next Level dog food for large breed dogs of all ages and 2 weeks later I haven't seen one loose poop, coat is shining, and spots are filling in. My pup is even responding better to potty training. This is my only place for food. Patty doesn't claim to be a vet at all, but her knowledge and passion from a Nutritionist to see your companion look and feel a 100% is a win. The brands she carries are natural based brands with really reasonable pricing. When I asked her about the ones I am currently feeding my animals, she brought out articles for me to read as to why those options are ones I should shy away from with proven facts to back it up. She then offered me suggestions of new foods, treats, litter which would better serve my animals. I ended up going home with a few samples but within a few days was back to purchase the whole cart. Disrespectful owner. Visited this place for the first time today as I saw decent reviews and wanted to try something new. During check out, I asked if military discount was offered and they said I should have asked before they started ringing me up because they could not do anything about it. As if it's not possible to cancel the transaction and start over. I was ready to leave and not make a deal out of this situation. Then the lady started questioning if I am still active duty and if I go there everyday until I was told I'd be saving on tax. Asking for an ID is sufficient as I have been asked at other places and do not have an issue showing this but being condescending about it was what tipped it off. I visited Pet Pantry for the first time yesterday while I waited for my car to be serviced across the street. Upon leaving, I thought to myself, it was no coincidence I was drawn to the store. Patti is like no other, so friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the business of animal health. I inquired about a particular issue with my cats but I didn't feel pressured to buy anything and was encouraged to try a sample to make sure my kitties took to a new food. She also sells the dog food I order online for my dog, so I will be giving her store my business instead (and she has more options to choose from)! I'm hopeful I will see a change in my cats' health soon with their new diet. I also plan to buy some new toys and treats there since the store has more than just food for sale. Score one for Patty! The store is really well stocked with high quality pet products. We feed raw, and I found Pet Pantry through the Halshan's website (my previous store just sold and doesn't have much inventory). She had what I wanted and needed in stock, which was a relief, and will take my monthly bulk order with no hesitation. She is not afraid to voice her opinion, but since we agree on about 90% of what she said I don't find that to be a problem. I've been coming here for my dog food for almost 3 years now the old lady has always had a very snarky attitude customer service is clearly not her strong suit but I guess today this skeleton really lost her marbles. Instead of greeting me when she came to the counter she got upset because I placed a 25 pound dog food on the counter that was slightly on her " new card machine" she stated that she knew I didn't know but then scolded me about it I simply told her ok yet she still kept going I finally paid and grabbed my stuff and began to walk out as I did she laughed and claimed I had an attitude she followed me towards the door when I turned around and asked her what did I do or say to make her feel like I had an attitude she couldn't come up with a response just stated that she just doesn't tolerate attitude in her store??? If I had such a attitude why take my money why wait till after I paid and am leaving to have so much animosity and did not want to give a refund very weird! read more

I decided to stop by here today because my dog loves the Taste of the Wild wet food and this store is listed as one of its retailers. However, I didn't have a positive experience and I was only in there for less than 5 minutes. First, the owner doesn't wear a mask. I understand if she can't wear one due to medical reasons, but she shouldn't face customers then. The closest she got to me was about 2 feet as well, which is far too close for my comfort. There was one other young man in the store, and he never put on a mask. On top of that, her customer service is a little aggressive. The sole information I wanted to know was the price of that can of food. I then wanted to leave. Next she asked me what dry food I fed my dog and proceeded to ramble about how dangerous that food is for my dog. I never asked for that information. Plus, the way she framed the information was aggressive in that she listed all these symptoms, "see that's why your dog is shedding a lot, there's poop everywhere" etc. but none of those things are true about my dog at the moment. It almost came off like conspiracy-theory-ranting. I was very uncomfortable. Lastly, the food I was looking for is expensive here. $3.10 a can when over at Pet Food Express in Bixby Knolls it goes for $2.69 a can. read more
