Not a big selection but there prices are pretty competitive. Everything sold here is really great quality. I came here under the recommendation of my neighbor to get dog food and they have an adequate selection of nutritious foods when you need to pick up something fast. The people who work here are helpful, they greet you right when you walk in and make sure you find whatever it is you are looking for. I ended up purchasing a few chew toys, chicken breasts snacks, and dry dog food. I'd like to bring my dog for the training though. My neighbor raves over it. read more

As a new dog owner I had a lot of questions, most were probably dumb but Ray was awesome. He took plenty of time to answer all my questions and assist with locating the product. I started coming here weekly for dog training session with Tiara. She is a darling and I am so glad I have taken the course with her. My beloved rascal used to make me cry, scream, even think about giving her up due to her misbehavior and resistance to my potty training methods. After five sessions with Tiara she is now able to sit, stay, lay down, shake, do high five, go find, walk straight, come when called, and OMG she goes potty outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank u Tiara you saved me and my Angels relationship and also my carpet. read more

Always set up your dog for success for them to respond well to training and I did exactly that by taking my 1.5 year old boxer to Tiara! I was looking through yelp and Google for various dog trainers to help my dog (Maximus) get over his aggressive behavior towards other dogs while walking on a leash. I don't know how he's gotten to this point because he goes to daycare and the beach and he gets along well with other dogs. Anyway, I'm glad I found Tiara because she is awesome! I had to wait a couple of weeks to start because she was on vacation, but the wait was worthwhile. Plus, it gave me a chance to train Maximus on my own. She works with clicker and treats. It seems she also has different ways to train dogs because she was kind of surprised I knew what I wanted. I knew the basics of clicker training, so we bypassed the intro. Through the 6-week course, Maximus learned leave it, drop it, watch me, and a little bit of 'stop' (it wasn't a priority of mine, so I didn't really teach it to him). My dog seems to have an attention deficit because it was so hard to get him to focus once we were at the store. At home, he was a master! It was so frustrating to see him easily distracted every time we tried to rehearse the commands inside the store, but Tiara reminded me that I need to be patient and understanding. Maximus has so much energy, no matter how much we exercise him, and it's hard for him to focus. I signed up for this course to correct behavioral issues with my dog, not to teach him him tricks. At the end of the 6 week course, Maximus knew how to do each command, but I need to focus more on performing the commands with distractions...lots of distraction, Tiara taught me the basics and I will forever be grateful for that. She is awesome and I recommend her to everyone who owns a dog! read more

This place is ok. Not the best in regards to options or having a large stock of things to look at but they do have the basics that any pet owner needs. Guess I'm just used to real large stores who have literally anything and everything you could think of. The people are really nice here so it definitely makes up for it. I love this store for one primary reason . . . . Tiara! Once again, Tiara hits it out of the park with her interest in others and customer service. We stopped by Unleashed last week to solve a litter box systems problem with our adolescent Sphynx cat. Tiara responded to us immediately. She guided us to the proper isle and presented the range of litter box options available. She also .... wait for it .... SAT ON THE FLOOR WITH ME as I sorted through the litter boxes. She even empathized as I bemoaned color options. In addition to suggesting spay paint, Tiara offered suggestions I had not dreamed of considering (new litter product, use of leaves, etc.). Tiara stayed on the floor with me for no less than 15 minutes. She even extended her hand to help me to a standing position. In addition, she did not deliver a heavy sigh or demonstrate a tonal change when I decided to wait before making a purchase. (I tend to want to scope the consumer horizon before I commit with dollars. I did return to buy two litter system boxes; a purchase I would not have made if given a signal of irritability.) I wonder if Unleashed has any idea how lucky it is to have her working in the company? (After I returned, I even noticed the taupe color box actually had an interesting egg plant hue in the right light. Sweet!) Expecting employees in the store to be as knowledgeable as Tiara probably is an expectation that qualifies as somewhat excessive. (Tiara is passionate about solving animal behavior problems and logistics). However, that said, we do wish other employees greeted and were as interested and willing to help us when we walked in as Tiara. This is the reason Unleashed on Redondo gets a 4 instead of a 5. Now for the most amazing . . . . I happened to see Tiara about town and . . . she asked me about my dog! It had been six months since we had seen her about William . . . six months... but Tiara . . . REMEMBERED!!!! Now, you have to admit, that's just AWESOME! read more

My only criticism of this place is that their parking lot is hard to get to. Otherwise, we (my dog and I) had a great experience here! Super helpful staff and a well curated selection. This location is the larger of the two Unleashed concept stores in the LB area. You will be able to find what you need for your pet at this store! A great place for gourmet treats and chews for your dog and puppy, plus they have a cat section too! Bring your pet to the store for the full experience. I went here looking for a soft cone for my dog on 4/24. The guy working there was no help at all. He said he didn't know where it was because he normally didn't work in that store but he knew for sure that they carried them. So instead of offering to help me look after he was done helping another customer, I walked the entire store unable to find the item. I left and went to Centinela and they were very helpful. This is a really fabulous place to stop in and reload on kitty litter, food (they carry frozen raw too) and accessories. The trainer, Tiara, is very supportive: she worked with us and our Maltese for one lengthy session and followed up on our progress with him the next time I stopped in! My favorite Petco!!! The people are SO sweet and knowledgeable without being "too helpful". They always walk my food to my car and act as though it is literally something they enjoy doing. I have a rewards card and feel like I'm always getting a free bag of food, which is great since my dog food is about $60. read more

My cat had fleas. I was about to buy something when the store associate asked me what my issue was. He recommended the natural product that wouldn't be toxic for my cat and explained how other products I tried are making my cat sick. He even said that I can bring it back if it doesn't work and apply the amount towards a different solution. read more

My review mainly concerns the dog trainer, Tiara, at this store, although all of the staff is extremely friendly and helpful and I would recommend the store in general highly as well. I wanted to train up my 12-year-old rescue dog, Bella, to be a therapy dog. While very smart and friendly once she becomes comfortable with you after a long while, she was extremely skittish in new, public environments (no doubt because of her history). Tiara worked very hard to overcome all of her issues and also added some basic command-obedience training and after six sessions she is like a new dog! Two things stand out about Tiara: one, her enthusiasm for her job and her obvious love for dogs. Two, she is very innovative in her training methods, not just doing the standard, cookie-cutter stuff and hoping it works. For example, to help get Bella past her problem with being easily distracted/upset by loud noises like children screaming (which she could run into if we go to a children's hospital), Tiara recommended leaving the TV on loudly tuned to Nickelodeon, Jr. whenever I left the house with Bella inside). I would highly recommend Tiara to anyone looking for a dog trainer in/around Long Beach. read more

Overpriced. All PetCos are in my humble opinion. They sell my cat litter and it's nearby, so I visit often. They have decent sales, but have stopped carrying my cat's soft food, which means I'll be here much less often. The staff are very helpful and nice. Parking. Seriously, why is the lot divided? Seems utterly unnecessary. Plus, they closed the damned thing off for three small tents one weekend and I drove around for 20 minutes trying to find a spot outside of the location to no avail, which meant I had to return another day (though my cats were in need of litter that day!). I give four stars for location and service. It's more like a 3 1/2, as it's overpriced and parking stinks. ;) read more

Although I have always had a pleasant experience in the store, this review is due to my experience working with the dog trainer Tiara. She is extremely competent with any type of dog. I think this is in large part because she just loves dogs so much. This love of dogs shines through her work. She makes both the dogs and owners feel so comfortable. The store is so clean and offers many natural/organic options for pet supplies and food. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. One of the workers walked around the store with me to show me items that would be fitting for my dog. He seemed very knowledgeable and was extremely friendly and professional. I prefer this smaller petco to the larger stores. The entire staff is friendly and always remembers my dogs name and what I'm shopping for. Gayla especially greets Petey with a treat and let's me know when new recommended senior products come in or events are coming up. She doesn't hesitate to check the back when items are not stocked on the shelves. She even buys treats out of her own pocket to make sure she has a treat to share with Petey. She is patient with my special needs deaf dog and he loves the special attention. I highly recommend this store. read more

I didn't like how no one really seemed to like their job and how everyone was smoking outside the building. Went to get some frontline plus for cats and it was $108.00 in the store. I told the sales associate that the Petco website says it's only $69.00. I told her "why shouldn't I just buy it online." Her response was "I don't think they thought that through" and then let me walk out without buying anything. I purchased it on Amazon prime for even cheaper with next day shipping. As a former employee of Petco, this was disappointing and showed why brick and mortar stores are never going to succeed now that tech is finding better ways to serve their customers.
