Really friendly staff. Great return policy. Nice selection of supplies, with high quality dog food. They have lots of sample treats to figure out what works best for your furry friend. They have a clean wash and dry area, too. The only downside (as others mentioned) is their prices are a little steep. Overall, a good spot in the neighborhood, though! read more

The selection of products is VAST but pricey, yet it's nice to get everything you need for your pup at one store. Very disappointed...As a long time Lakeshore resident and dog owner and trainer I was pleased to see this store open so close to my residence. Today I needed dry dog food to supplement my dogs raw diet so I stopped in to purchase my brand. I was the only one in the store the salesperson quickly told me that they did not carry Taste of the Wild, it was not up to Pet-Co standards. Then walked away, without even a suggestion. I asked as her back was to me could she recommend something similar she showed me a brand that was three times as much ($22.95 for 4 lbs) nothing else. Again turned and walked away as if in a hurry, I saw many other brands that I could have been interested in purchasing, i.e., Blue Diamond. Did not even acknowledge that my dog was with me, or ask if there was anything else she could help me with, as there was. I had come to purchase some raw bones if available and a couple of rubber balls. At that point I decided to go to my regular store Pet Vet, as prices are good and service is wonderful. As I left store salesperson was busy chatting on telephone and did not even invite me back! read more

If I could give this place no stars I would! I went into the store today for the very first time to try out the $10 self-dog wash. For starters when i first walked in I wasn't greeted by any of the workers; there was at least three associates working. It seems as if these people don't love animals and they all seems miserable. I had a really horrible experience today which i don't feel like reliving by explaining but let's just say that what happened in the store today had me leaving the store crying after being cursed out by two workers (Darrel and the lady's name is Jodean) I will NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN!!! Fellow yelp people please don't support a store like this until they get knowledgeable, pet friendly, professional people who actually know a thing or two about animals and about the products their store carries. read more

We decided to go back so that Katie could have a nice bath before seeing friends...so this is a review of the bathing facilities: The containers are very heavy metal and really noisy when you bang up against them, or replace the very heavy door. The water is impossible to mix to the right temperature while holding the dog and the spray handle. There doesn't seem to be any way to control the flow of the water - it is one setting that is too focused. There are only two shampoo choices, and neither is that great. The brushes have other dog's hair in them...so after the bath, you have to unhook the dog, and move her to the corner for a blow dry, which is not much fancier than a vacuum cleaner with the hose on the wrong side. If there are other dogs, you wait your turn. Clearly designed by someone who had never washed a dog. $10? Back to Pet Food Express I go. read more

This store just opened up on Lakeshore Blvd and it is AWESOME!! My husband and I brought in our Sharpei mix, Tuffy looking for a standard dog food and were greeted by the friendliest and most well informed manager, Guy Shelby. Not only was his knowledge of dog food extensive but he made some great recommendations for our pup and also fitted him for a very handsome vest. He also provided us with a monthly calendar detailing fun and informational events for you and your pet. The sales associate, Christina, who rang up our order helped me sign up for a Petco card and was also extremely friendly and well spoken! We were so impressed by the cleanliness, organization, selection and energy of this place. We will definitely be back! read more

While 3 employees having a conversation I walked in and not greeting by anyone they kept carrying on their conversation. There I'm looking for dog food specific brand for which it was obvious that I was struggling trying to find the food for a good 5 minutes and no one dare to ask if I needed help. Take in consideration the store was empty, another customer walked in and he was not greeting either. I walked toward the door and employees even though the could see me didn't say anything at all. Certainly they didn't care to make customers feel at ease nor attempted to help. Though I found the dog food I was looking for I decided to take my business to another location. Maybe the $40 I spend on food my dog is not enough for this store to care for it's customers. read more

Have been a loyal unleashed customer for years. Have been coming here at least once a month to bathe my poodle mix and buy his kibble and treats. The main reason I came is because of the industrial blow dryer. I do not have much hair and have no desire to own a blow dryer. I have a huge bath tub at home and have all the oatmeal shampoo and conditioner at home. Today unleashed has lost a loyal customer. Apparently, their blow dryer is broken and they didn't bother to tell me. After shampoo my dog I noticed that the dryer was missing. I asked the workers what was going on. After they told me I was pissed off. What really gets me is that they didn't tell me and refused to give me a refund as I had already shampooed my dog. I am now going to be going to pet food express for my baths. Never coming here again. Even though it is only $10, it's still not ok to cheat customers. read more

I called Unleashed at 3:30 today and asked if I could bring my dog in for a bath. Gavin I believe the name of the clerk told me that the wash stations were available. I get my dog, pay for parking and show up at 4:00 for the bath. As soon as I walk in the door, I am greeted. Awesome! That's cool, I like that. As I start to walk to the back toward the tubs, the clerk looks confused. I ask if the tubs are open, more so just letting her know that I'd like to give my dog a bath because I JUST called you guys to see if it was cool bring my dog in and she says, "Actually we're closing early. At 4:00? Oh, ok. I let her know that it kinda sucks to waste my time like this, that it would have been nice to know over the phone if you planned to close at 4:00 today and she let me know that it also sucks for her when corporate or whoever lets her know things last minute. I love most of the staff! Darrel was so great about helping me try different double leashes for my 2 GSDs until I found the one that suited us best! Steph was really great with my puppy during Puppy I training. There used to be another great employee named Guy who always had great tips (like freezing sweet potato or yoghurt in the kongs), but Guy left to work elsewhere. My only peeve with this store is they are often out of stock of items I need. Jodean (the manager) even went out her way to check out other stores for the items. They were also great about letting me know when they finally got in the stuff I needed (thanks Nathan). read more

Our dog, Leland, attended Steph's dog training over about 6 weeks. Couldn't have been happier with her training style, flexibility (in training content and scheduling) and effectiveness. We learned specific training activities and tricks, but - more importantly - we learned a broader approach that works beyond the specific lessons. Really love all the staff here and wide selection of food/treats/pet care/equipment for dogs. Staff here is always really friendly and helpful. The only thing I wish would come back/improve is the quality of the pet bath section. The pet baths here are really low price ($10/bath) which is awesome. However, recently, the upkeep/maintenance of the bath and equipment has not been as good as in the past. That being said, hopefully they will will improve with feedback...really can't beat the price and as I said, the team here is great. Thank you! read more

We were really pleased that a pet store opened up so close to where we live. Most of the time, we enjoy coming here as the staff is generally very friendly/helpful and they have everything we need. What prevents the 5 stars is that there is one female person in particular who works here who always seems to have an attitude, and her energy is just...negative. Case in point: one evening we called to see when they closed so we could bring our dogs in for baths. A woman on the phone told us they closed at nine, but would prefer that we bring the dogs in "by eight" so they had time to clean the wash stations. Fair enough. We came in at 7:40, and the woman with the attitude mugged us stone-faced the entire time we checked in, and had the nerve to turn to the other salesperson to mutter something snide and to snicker. It was a junior high school moment. She didn't speak to us, walked by us multiple times while looking the other way, and emanated irritation and impatience. Baths were done by 8, we walked out by 8:10, and she looked as us leave without saying a word. Afterwards we decided that her energy was consistently off-putting enough that it was beginning to make our experiences there sour. It's too bad that she is put out about customer service. She should find another job. read more

Kudos to Jodean and the staff for helping me make my granddaughter's day. While passing by the store last week , my granddaughter who is 3.5 spotted the huge stuffed dog in the window and fell in love with him. She has a much smaller one that is similiar in appearance and her name is Lucy. Well as a 3.5 yr old will do she created a story line in which the dog in the window was now Lucy's brother who was lost and we needed to bring him home to lucy who was quite sad about her missing brother. My granddaughter also spinned this narrative to her uncle who told me that we absolutely had to get her this dog. I called the store and spoke with Jodean asking if the dog was for sale etc. She graciously explained that it had been donated to them when they opened but she would talk it over with the staff to see if they would agree to allow him (Louis as he has been named) to be adopted. She called me early the next morning to say we could "adopt " the dog which sent me to the moon. The willingness of Jodean and her staff to make a little girl's wish for the "doggie in the window" a reality is huge in my book. Tho I myself am not a pet owner, I will always reccomend this store and its staff to those who are. Thank you Jodean so very much. A very happy grandmother in Oakland. read more

The rumors are true: Steph really is the best dog trainer ever. I did four private lessons with her and my pit mix Dasha. Steph helped us hone Dasha's weak obedience skills so that now she is eager to do things right! Steph listened to our issues and then was so helpful explaining the right way to address each one. She is a genius with dogs. They love and respect her, and she really does a great job modeling this behavior so you can learn too. She helped us learn sit, stay, loose leash walking, leave, among other things. She gave me some very valuable moral support while we sat through a barking spell to teach Dasha that barking does not get us what we want. It was a breakthrough! Plus she's got a wicked sense of humor and is just the best. We'll definitely be returning for some group learning classes because Dasha responds so well to it. I'm pretty sure Steph is now Dasha's best friend, and she doesn't want to share her with anyone else. read more

Petco is a well stocked shop with friendly, helpful employees. Best of all is their dog trainer, Stephanie, who worked with our two young ( hate this name!) chiweenes. Stephanie is very intuitive, yet her progression of tasks is sensible and methodical. Completely patient, I can't imagine the dog who thinks he or she doesn't want to learn what she's teaching them. Kind, a lover of dogs, she's also great with people. Our dogs learned everything she taught them. I hope we did too! read more

My 1 year old dog took Dog 1 and Dog 2 with her, and she was everything I could have hoped for in a trainer: knowledgeable, a problem-solver, kind, great sense of humor. Every week, I came to Steph with new nuanced issues and questions about my dog and she always listened carefully and thought deeply about how to best approach these. That's why I returned to her for Dog 2! My dog made incredible progress throughout the course of the classes. He went from completely untrained to extremely well-behaved.
