it was very disappointing. there was nothing more than listening to old folks telling stories on a moving bus. guides were fun, but by themselves. I didn't find their jokes funny one bit. no more historical sites to see, just like the other yelpers said. better read the stories from the internet with pictures at home. the bus's AC was not working properly so and i felt uncomfortable for the entire tour. perhaps, it's not my cup of tea, but i don't recommend this tour if you are not in your retirement trying to have something to add to your travel itinerary. read more

I really enjoyed this tour. We did a 4 hour tour the day before of north and south Chicago. This was even better and half the time. Would highly recommend it if you want an all round tour with a big of fun on the side. read more

My family and three guests from California all thought it was a complete waste of time, it was extremely cheesy. I really was looking forward to this tour for several years. "Shoulders" and "Knuckles" our two tour guides had a lot of inside jokes, poor impressions and lots of information that had nothing to do with Chicago. Nice guys, but very little time was spent on the rich gangster history of Chicago. Multiple stories were cut off halfway through in attempts to be funny. This tour has a ton of potential but this was a complete waste of time and money. Learned next to nothing. If you like really touristy things that are a little cheesy without much substance, you will still enjoy this tour. Was not happy with this tour, but I think the effort was genuine so a "respect" additional star. I'm sorry, I don't recall the band of the tour guide, but his driver was "Winky". We went through a lot of chicago and the guide was genuinely trying, but he was missing things, the narrative seemed to waver, and there was an awkward crowd participation thing about ducking when you hear gunfire. I did really enjoy the historical info that was peppered in, but it wasn't much. It was almost like an architecture tour rather than a gangster tour. Also made no mention of Dillinger...even if you can't drive there you should discuss someone that prominent. Don't want to be a hater, but my group of four all really disliked the tour. read more

Great tour. Lots of great information and funny tour guides. You dont actually get off anywhere. The bus will just pull over at certain sites and tell you the history. I enjoyed it and was never bored. I know there are tour buses where you hop on and off but for it being a hot morning day this was just fine for us! Our tour guides were very fun and did a great job telling the history and stories of the Chicago gangsters. It's unfortunate that the former mayor tore town several of the original structures which means we were looking at parking lots rather than the original buildings, though. That being said, the tour was entertaining and our guides were great story tellers and very informative. I would definitely do the tour again and recommend it for others. read more

Our tour guides were Johnny & Johnny. The tour covered the four major gang territories from the 20's and 30's. They went into a little history of how the Chicago ganges formed (well meaning but misguided politicians), major players and events. The Johnny's were knowledgable and the tour was fun and a great way to see a lot of Chicago in a short period of time. I highly recommend the tour to anyone visiting Chicago and looking for a fun tour with a different local flavor. read more

I will be honest I did this tour about 12 years ago and though the bus is newer...very little has changed. It is a great tour, once. After seeing it a second time I only wish they had more content. There are about 5 major stories over 90 minutes that don't hold a ton of meat. As a long time Chicagoan I know there are more stories to discuss in the Gold Coast, in the Loop, etc. Places that the bus passes, but nothing is brought up. Also, another word of caution....the air conditioning didn't work on a 90 degree day.. ugh. read more

Canceled my scheduled trip without any reason and not enough time to reschedule. I was really looking forward to the highly rated trip, but they gave me no opportunity to reschedule even though I booked my trip on Monday night for a Thursday evening outing. They did graciously refund my money without question, but on the only trip I've ever taken to Chicago, I'd rather have the experience of the tour than the displeasure of cancelation. They took my information at booking and mentioned cancellations, so I can only imagine this happens regularly to their customers. read more

I agree with much of what Oscar said, it's still true in '08. I don't mind the bus being less than a slick motorcoach. However, much of the tour is a letdown because many of the buildings that they take you by are gone these days. I took the night tour (I think time of day is the only difference between the two) and it was about 90 minutes. However, about half of that was chatty filler, or lame jokes and activities. My tour was further enhanced by a group of loudmouths in the back of the bus who, thanks to their personal liquor stash, wanted to share their personal opinions on the tour and its operator with the rest of the crowd. For $27 this tour is way over-priced and nothing to write home about. read more

We had a blast on this tour. " Nails" and " Shoulders" were great fun. They were right on time, the ride was very comfortable, and they gave away prizes at the end. They went through different areas than the city tour buses did and I loved the history lesson. We found an amazing restaurant to try while on this tour. Bonus! I would do this tour again. read more

We did the Untouchables tour in mid-July with our kids, aged 9 and 12. The tour was an hour and 45 minutes, and traveled throughout parts of north, south and west Chicago. Our tour guide was engaging and a good actor, using a heavy, gangster-inspired Chicago accent to involve the group with his story-telling, humor and knowledge of gangster history. While much of the gangster lifestyle was quite salacious, the tour guide's jokes and humor did a good job of skirting that, and we felt comfortable having our kids with us. The bus was clean and well-maintained, with generally adequate air conditioning for the day's weather (88 degrees). A few reviews have mentioned inadequate air conditioning, which I suppose could be an issue if it was in the mid-90s...but we were comfortable. Overall, the tour was well narrated and felt like a good value for a family outing. read more

Loved this tour! Slippery Slope and the driver (sorry can't remember his name) were fantastic. They were funny yet educated us on this very infamous part of Chicago history. I think it's amazing that most of the "scenes of the crimes" are gone but I understand that as well. The music from the era was great as was the raffle drawing at the end. Good and bad. First, the tour guides are great. Energetic and in character, they spin some great stories. However, since these events happened so long ago, the buildings and sites are almost all gone. You end up on a 2 hour ride around Chicago. Not worth the money in the long run. read more

This was my second time (in 7 years) taking this tour, but I think it's a great way to kill two hours with out-of-town guests. It's cheesy, yes, and one tour guide had a few things wrong, like pronouncing it "Caprini Green" instead of Cabrini-Green, but overall, fun, funny, and entertaining. My husband and I decided to beat the winter blues with a staycation. One thing we have always wanted to do, but never tried was the Untouchables Tour. It lasted about 2 hours and gave us a lot of information about the city that we had never known. The guides were really fun and entertaining. You can tell they really enjoy what they do. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who would like to see parts of the city they might not otherwise see during their visit. Very fun and very informative. read more

Absolutely miserable the entire time!! It was so so so hot on the bus we considered asking multiple times to get off. I spent the entire tour fanning myself with the cheaply made pamphlet that was handed out. The tour guides were nice but they looked just a miserable as the rest of us. It was too hot to participate in the silly ducking when you hear gun fire. Back of the bus was so bumpy my back hurt by the end of the tour. Please get the air conditioner working before you kill someone on this tour! Don't waste your money unless you are looking for a terrible time. read more

A really fun tour. The driver and tour guide dress up and talk in classic Chicago accents. The tour is surprisingly long, taking you from the north side all the way to the south. I was a bit nervous about being able to see out of the bus windows but it was perfectly fine and I was sitting on the inside aisle. read more

A must do when visiting Chicago! The tour was excellent!! Very informative and learnt some old school gangster history of Chicago. Definitely lots of surprising facts revealed. The tour was undertaken in a comfortable and modern mini van travelling and stopping at various locations in Chicago's city South, North and West sides. The tour was scheduled for approximately 1.5 hours though was more like 2 hours. Above all the 2 tour guides were amazing. Pretty good tour which covered not only Chicago Gangster history but touched on other town history as we drove through. The tour was about 90 minutes long. It spanned many neighborhoods of town so it was impractical to walk or take the subway plus a few of the landmarks had been removed so it was definitely helpful to know what we were looking at. It would have been nice to be able to get out and take some photos at a couple of spots but the streets were so narrow its not really practical to do so. Good tour. read more

An absolute must when visiting Chicago. A great, "tongue in cheek", easy going, funny and informative tour, on the Prohibition period of US history. We took the tour Labor Day weekend and we really enjoyed hearing some of the history of the "the city". Being from the far north suburbs all my life, I knew there was a huge gangland history in Chicago. But it was interesting to hear a little more that the gore. Like what businesses the gangsters were in for cover and to drive around the southern side of the city and check out some of the old architecture. The guides were lots of fun and the best part was seeing them enjoying themselves so much. My 17 year old daughter and I go downtown every Labor day weekend nor for three years, and we were pleasantly surprised with this tour. It was fund and interesting. A little pricey but I don't regret paying the fee. read more
