Food is amazing! You can't go wrong with any of it. Gal taking order didn't seem thrilled to be working.

I sure hope more people discover this restaurant. They need to be a lot busier, and there's no…read morereason they shouldn't be. Their location isn't helping any, since it's a depressed, almost empty plaza (where Plumb's used to be), and it's easy to not realize there's actually something worthwhile there as you drive past. The restaurant itself is kind of depressing too. Their aquarium with fish in it is shameful. If fish could be suicidal, I'd imagine these would be. But since there's absolutely nothing in the tank but fish and water, there's nothing there they could kill themselves with anyway, so their sad lives go on. Sigh. But having gotten that off my chest, OMG the food here is fantastic! I have been to every Chinese restaurant in Muskegon and they range from moderately-kind-of-OK to just plain bad. A few can just barely scratch the itch of a Chinese food craving, but generally I've just ignored the itch until it went away, rather than eat at any of them. Family Kitchen was the last place I tried, since it was the only one left I hadn't been to and it's kind of inconvenient for me. And I truly had low hopes at this point. My first time there, the food was AMAZING. And the second time. And the third time, and every time after that. I am now a huge fan of this place, despite their sad fish tank. And they're the only place in town that does egg foo young well. Really well. If you can see past the counter help who seem to have no idea what any of the food actually is, I highly recommend Family Kitchen to anyone who wants to eat decent Chinese food for a change. I really don't recommend it to any fish looking for a home.

Naan pizza sounded like a fun fusion option with reasonable prices. Following a lovely morning at a…read morecafe and visiting the farmer's market we decided on this spot for lunch. When we arrived we noticed it was a two in one restaurant serving both traditional and fusion naan pizzas. They also had new prices. Everything was $4 more. Inflation hit and surprised us. Nevertheless we ordered a 9 inch chicken tikka masala pizza and cheese sticks for $27. SMH. The toppings were not cut for pizza's and it was clear to us that they were the same veggies they prepared for their curries. Huge chunks of peppers etc. The naan pizza was disappointing. It was $15 for a McCormick's tasting curry sauce with oddly cut veggies found under the cheese. The chicken had been toasted so long I thought they were croutons until I took a bite. Not worth it. The cheese sticks for the kids had some curry sauce brushed on with melted cheese and jalapeño. The man knew I was ordering it for the kids and the menu didn't say it came with anything but bread and cheese. SMH. That was a wasted $11. All of this took over 20 minutes to prepare. We were the only patrons. The place was dark, dusty and when we sat at the booth offered to us, I almost fell through to the floor. We chose to eat outside, across the street at some picnic tables because it was sunny and the air smelled fresh. The owners were nice enough, but I had to request napkins and the food was just okay. Glad we tried it, but I don't think we'll be back. Not good enough quality or balance of flavors for the price.

The tikka was pretty spicy but good, the waitress didn't ask what spice level we wanted. The veggie pizza was less spicy but pretty skimpy on the vegetables other than green peppers. We never found any eggplant. We were the only patrons the whole time we were there. I doubt we will go back. I think it's the only Indian restaurant in the area.

Naan Pizza - Interior. The booth seating was missing a spring. I was shocked (not in a good way) when I sat down.

My two small critiques: (01) I didn't sense that the tofu was roasted as advertised, and (02) 2/4 rolls were stuck together, and my fillings partially spilled out. This worked well, and the overall vibe of the restaurant from the ordering to the seating choices is quick service. Service: The restaurant was relatively slow due to being so newly opened, but the service was great. The staff worked hard to answer our questions to the best of their ability. Food: The menu had a few mixups with the things that were labeled gluten-free, and the staff seemed unclear what the answers were until another person (owner) could be available. This is critical for my friend not to be sick. In the end, my dining partner kind of did her best guessing and was happily correct. However, we will probably not be back together until they get that sorted out. It's not worth getting her sick. Pros: - Efficient - great choices - delicious beverages - The food was so good I dug in before I even snapped the picture Cons: - despite being labeled gluten-free on the menu, there were clearly some mixups - beverages were quite pricey

Luckily, I was able to learn how to order thanks to the nice gentleman in front of me ordering whilst holding a conversation with me. Basically, the set up is a lot like Q-doba. You stand in line, choose your bowl size, choose your proteins and then toppings and sauce. I chose the regular bowl because it had 2 proteins and I just couldn't decide between spicy salmon and spicy tuna. My bowl was delicious! I was impressed with the amount of rice options, the quality of the poke, and the copious amounts of toppings and sauces to choose from. This place was fine for a lunch date where I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in 20+ years. Everything was delicious, though the milk tea with boba was a little too sweet for my taste. Overall, excellent lunch option, albeit a tad expensive for "fast food." My milk tea and regular poke bowl came up to over $22. Certainly worth it, but not a daily go to option on my budget. Def check out poke toki if you're in the area. The food is better than the pun this restaurant is named after. Now turn yourself about, and do the Poke Toki!
