They specialize in Herbal Life products such as energizing teas, protein coffee, protein shakes, etc. The shop is run by an African American couple, I only point that out because in past experiences patronizing businesses operated by African Americans never turns out well for me. Very friendly and helpful owner, Uri. His children were hanging out after school when I was there. He says they add vitamins to the protein powders. The focus here seems to be more on flavor than real food (such as fruits, veggies). But I guess the idea is to add the powdered vitamins for nutrition. I ordered the peanut butter cup protein shake and it was delicious. They add ice to the powders and do a quick blend. Fairly quiet for a smoothie place, which is nice. I haven't tried the teas. My first time here and I had high hopes based on the reviews. I usually make my own smoothies but was out and wanted something different. The staff (I think the owners) were very friendly and the shop looked very clean. Everything on the menu looked really good! I chose the "Chunky Monkey " smoothie which is usually one of my favorite smoothie flavor combinations. It looked delicious, thick and almost pudding like... I took one sip through the straw and all I tasted was this very overpowering chemically artificial sweetener flavor. For me it was completely inedible. I never thought to ask about how their smoothies were sweetened. At home I never use artificial sweeteners and go out of my way to purchase unflavored protein powders. The only sweetener I'll add is a bit of raw honey. For someone accustomed to artificial sweeteners, or even Stevia (which to me is just as bad) these smoothies are probably delicious, but I had to throw mine away. Too bad since I hate to waste food and money, and I was looking forward to a good smoothie. read more
