Very disappointed with this company. I had a dishwasher that needed to be repaired. I called Uptown Appliance (which I had used previously for ice maker repair) for a quote. The technician came out and looked over the dishwasher and I received a quote shortly thereafter. The quote was over $800!! and they recommended I purchase 2 parts kits and 2 clamps. Each clamp was priced at $84!! (I could buy the same clamp at HD for $2 each). I called the company and questioned why I needed 2 kits and 2 clamps. After a few days they said that was an error and I only needed one of each. When I questioned them about the $84 clamps they didn't have any response other than ("OEM parts are expensive..."). I didn't need a simple clamp from the manufacturer when the HD clamp work work just fine and needless to say I didn't use them for this repair and called another service company that fixed the problem for less than $100. Unfortunately Uptown Appliance has lost my trust and I will NEVER use them again. Buyer beware! I'm confident that Uptown Appliance can repair most appliances but now that I KNOW they are looking to rip off their customers they will not get any more of my $. read more

My washer stopped working thanksgiving weekend. Uptown appliance repair was prompt in scheduling a visit on that following Monday. My drain pump needed to be replaced. Estimate was very high!! I cross checked the price with the maker and other sites. The price quoted was 9-10 times higher than what the actual cost for the part!! I was going to cancel the repair. However, they were willing to come down with the price of the part. So, consumers do your homework and know your prices before you ok the estimate. I called as my oven was showing a temperature sensor failure. They were very friendly on the phone and the repairman was very nice. However- the quote to fix it was $778. The charge in the quote for the temperature sensor part was $439. I looked up the cost from GE for the part and it is $46!! They also wanted $290 for labor. On Youtube it took about 5 mins to replace the part. I will have to pay the $145 service call charge, (he was here about 5-10 mins) but do NOT use this company. They donated to KSBJ radio who I love, so I thought I would use them. After this high quote it reminded me of another high quote I had a few years ago. It was to fix the water line in my fridge for $439. I bought the part myself ($12)and fixed it within 10 mins. (thanks Youtube) I did not remember the company name until I went back through my emails today and it is the same company. ( A new wall oven is only $995 and they want $778 to fix mine!) read more

We had Uptown Appliance come and service our ice maker. After they left, we emptied the next few cycles of ice exactly as prescribed. But we could notice that the ice was coming out in thick sheets - unusable. After multiple follow up visits, the techs they sent out kept telling my wife that she hadn't emptied the ice maker following the service. She spoke to the manager at Uptown, he assured us that the issue was a part - they would order it and come and fix the ice maker. This process started in September (it's almost Christmas) and we still can't use ice maker. Super frustrating, considering the holidays are next week. Uptown Appliance straight up broke our ice maker in what was supposed to have been a routine service - and the ice maker was working great before the service. After a failed attempt of ordering a new part, them knowing it wasn't the correct one, they insisted on coming to fix the ice maker. Wrong part. Currently waiting on 2nd ordered part. That was three weeks ago. Their techs are not well trained and don't know how to fix issues they create. The owner called and refunded the service, which was a nice gesture - as they can't get the part. I appreciate it, but it still doesn't fix the ice maker. read more

We had Uptown Appliance Repair come to our home to repair a leak in the washer. The tech found that the leak was being caused by a plumbing clog. The technician was efficient and clear in explaining the problem even including a video of where the leak was coming from. He even cleaned up the water that leaked out the pipe. Initially, I was happy with the service I received on my Thermador range. However, after they fixed the problem that I called them out for, the knobs for the stove would not operate properly. They came back out and told me that the knobs were fine, they hadn't moved anything and there was nothing wrong with where they were positioned. I had to get Thermador out here for $200 to fix what should have been an easy task for the technician. The Thermador technician was 100% confident they had removed the front panel and not reinstalled it correctly. The UA tech did not take ownership of the issue and ensure my happiness with the service. Within minutes of posting this review, I received a phone call from the owner. He addressed all of my concerns, paid for the Thermador visit and told me how he would follow up. That is exactly the kind of response I was looking for. I will give them business in the future and appreciate Bobby's honesty and ownership of the problem. read more

My experience was beyond bad. When I called to schedule an appointment I asked if they were an authorized Maytag service provider and was told yes. Only later when I called Maytag after all of the problems described below did I find out that they are not. Totally incompetent and unprofessional. My 6 year old top of the line Maytag washer had a slow but steady drip from the top of the tub. The tech who came out to determine the problem left water in the tub. He had determined that it needed a new valve. When a different tech came out to drain the tub, he switched the hot and cold water connections which was discovered later by different techs. When Bobby, the owner, called to give me a price to replace the valve, he said the part was $250+ and labor was $200+. I approved it only to find out later that the valve costs $47 from Maytag. The part came in and two techs came to install it; when they left I went to do a load and saw that it was still dripping. Obviously they had not fixed it. They came back and couldn't figure out what was wrong. A third tech showed up and was able to fix it by switching the cold and hot water back to the correct connections; but, in the process, the detergent compartment was dropped and broke. I heard the drop and went in to see what it was. The techs said it had dropped but failed to tell me it broke. They left again and I went to do a load. That's when I discovered the detergent compartment was cracked. I was able to turn the machine on, but it started making a very loud noise. So I called again, and the next day two different techs came out to fix the problem and determined it would cost more to fix it than to replace the machine. It goes on and on.... I highly suggest that you not use Uptown. read more

After many months of dealing with several repair technicians sent by the home warranty company to repair a built-in refrigerator, decided to find my own provider and selected Uptown Appliance Repair (Dallas) based on online reviews. As a first time customer, must say that I would not hesitate to use UAR again. They sent out a technician the next day who was able to diagnose the problem and set out a plan to remedy (which included repairing damage caused by the providers sent by home warranty company). UPDATE on my review below - I spoke with the owner of the company this morning regarding the service I received. He truly apologized and stated that this was a one-off situation. He assured me that Uptown Appliance Repair stands behind it's professional service, it's people and customers. After our conversation, I will keep Uptown Appliance Repair in mind for any future appliance issues that arise. I believe that mistakes can happen and that, as long as we make an effort to correct and move foward, everything will work out for the best. Summary of service on Sears Kenmore Oven/Microwave Combo: 1. 03-January - Initial service call to determine issue with oven/microwave combo wall unit 2. 09-January - Initial quote of $1,063.02 for Main Control Board 3. 10-January - Approved quote and paid deposit of $600.00 4. 22-January - Service to install Main Control Board. Technician advised that initial diagnosis was wrong. The Cooling Fan Assembly needs to be changed. 5. 31-January - Received revised quote - $1,080.34. The part is $608.00, though Sears Parts Direct provided a parts quote of $137.20. Nicole of Uptown stated that the 343% markup is to cover warranty, expedited shipping and that Uptown only buys OEM parts from the manufacturer. 6. 12-February - Service to install new Cooling Fan Assembly. Technician called to state that the part was broken and would have to reorder. 7. 22-February - Service to install new Cooling Fan Assembly. Technician called to cancel, stating that it takes two people to replace the parts. 8. 15-March - Service to install new Cooling Fan Assembly. Technician called to state that part is broken and would have to reorder. 9. 20-March - Call received from Uptown, stating that parts have been received and service needs to be set. I instructed Uptown to contact tenants. 10. 26-March - Appointment to install parts, after 5:30pm 11. 26-March - Company owner calls, stating that Uptown does not work after 5:30pm. Implies that delays are due to tenants not being responsive or available during working hours. He stated that, if the tenants cannot be available during working hours, he will refund the deposit of $600.00. I told him that I did not want the refund, I wanted the appliance repaired. 12. Appointment set for 29-March between 08:00 and 10:00 13. 29-March - Parts installed, unit working normally 14. 29-March - Invoice for services received IMMEDIATELY upon completion - AMAZING how quickly Uptown can submit an invoice, when their services took THREE MONTHS to complete!!! read more

Disappointed in the service received by Uptown Appliance Repair. Even though the technician was on time at the beginning of the service window (which was appreciated), he was rude and didn't clearly communicate with me. He roughly handled our expensive Viking Range and left before he even made sure the oven was working properly after fixing. He was in and out of our house in 30 minutes and I was charged $300 for labor, which is exorbitant based on the little time the technician spent fixing our range. We noticed the knob that was replaced was the incorrect color, but unfortunately the technician had left before we could tell him. At the end of the day the oven was fixed! Update: First thing the next day I got a call from the owner, Bobby, and asked how the service was and after explaining the situation he offer a sincere apology based on my experience. Bobby went above and beyond to remedy the situation and to make sure that I was completely satisfied with the plan moving forward. I really appreciate that the owner taking the time to reach out and hear my experience, which not many companies do. An additional part was found to be defective during the servicing of the oven and will call Uptown Appliance Repair to fix this issue as they are truly focused on provided great customer service! read more

Unjustifiably expensive for routine appliance repairs! they also charge an undisclosed house call fee of $145! $1200 estimate to fix a $2000 oven. Come to find out the part we needed was only $200 and a Bosch certified repair person can install it for $150 in about 20 minutes. Uptown wanted $600 for the same part and almost as much for the install. Quick response and professional service but NOT worth the egregiously overpriced rates and exorbitant mark ups! Will not be reaching out to them again. Adjusting my rating after they did end up refunding our $145 house call charge which was the professional and right gesture. read more

Contacted Uptown Appliance and was told they are an authorized Bosch repair outfit. Problem with my unit is a regular failure point -- door counter balance. Technician came out to look at the issue -- he was prompt, courteous, and took the time to cover shoes etc. Quote for repair had a part cost of $182. This is a part that is reliably available on-line for $20. Have since found that other shops have a part cost of $30 per hinge with a total of $60. Labor charge was to be $250. Asked to be called about the estimate and part cost. Someone called, with no further information and a promise to send an additional email. He then took an attitude when I questioned the markup. He said their markup was 40%. Called Bosch, today, to find repair outfits and discuss this place. Turns out, Bosch does not consider them an authorized repair facility. I registered a complaint. Also had them look at my 40+ year old oven which needs elements. $40-50 part would be charged at $350 and another $250 labor. Reading other reviews, they seem to pass themselves off as dealers for several brands. Avoid them and their lack of integrity. read more

I called Uptown Appliance Repair after hearing their ads on the Michael Berry show. I had noticed a strong gas odor around our stove and our gas clothes dryer. Uptown was able to get a repair person out to us in a few days (it wasn't an emergency, so I can't comment as to whether they would have been more responsive if it had been). The first repairman did a thorough job disassembling my Thermador rangetop and Miele dryer. He also said there was nothing wrong with either. So it only cost me the trip charge. However, the next day, we noticed that one of the burners on the rangetop was loose and this took another couple of days to get someone out to fix it. Overall, I docked them a star because the rangetop wasn't put back together properly. But overall it was a good experience and I would likely call them again if I had issues with my appliances. read more

Called a second appliance repairperson, who determined that the ice maker was fine, but the problem was a leak in the water supply line. Uptown Appliance Repair earned our business and trust yesterday. Our KitchenAid stand-alone ice maker was not making ice. I like to work on things like these so I ran the diagnostics and identified an issue. The water pump was not functioning so I replaced it. It still didn't work, which is always a possibility with an amateur. I went further into the machine, taking it further apart. I couldn't identify the problem, and it got to the point that I gave up. I called Uptown Appliance Repair at about 5:03 pm on a Wednesday to ask about a service call. A person answered and I started to schedule it. After explaining my situation, the person on the phone gave me a recommendation to fix the machine instead of scheduling the technician visit. It was a technical recommendation, and appropriate for my level of ability. I was able to get it done, therefore saving me a lot of money. Seriously. I can't figure out why the Google reviews are so good for this company. They must delete the bad reviews. This was the most frustrating company to deal with. We moved into a new house in November and the double ovens weren't working as well as the stove top range. Visit # 1 - 1st tech came out and said the convection fan was out on the ovens and the igniters needed to be replaced on the stove. Ok easy enough, ordered the parts and scheduled for the repair. Visit # 2 - different tech was sent out to do the repair and was able to replace the convection fan, but said the igniters on stove couldn't be replaced and we needed to order additional parts. Plus parts for the oven to get certain lights to work. A little more frustrated - we ordered more parts and waited for them to arrive. Visit #3 - tech arrives and asked US what needed to be repaired, like they didn't even have the information from previous visits. Then proceeded to tell us the stove couldn't be fixed because he didn't have the right tools. At this point I'm wondering why they didn't just say we needed a new stove from the beginning. Visit #4 - at this point we had already paid for parts that now weren't even installed. I argued with the owner and he sent two guys out to "fix" the stove. Stove still isn't functioning properly and will need to be replaced. Basically save your time and sanity and go elsewhere!!! I hate writing negative reviews for companies and am only giving two stars because the owner did give us a huge discount for everything we went through but it wasn't worth it. Over the last few years we have required repairs on our dishwasher, Viking range and refrigerator. I found Bobby at Uptown Appliance and have used them exclusively. They are honest, reliable, go over and beyond, and a total pleasure to deal with. They warranty their work and I have been pleasantly surprised at the reasonable charges for the repairs. Our latest was an issue with our ice maker filter light staying on. Max came out for the repair, and of all the staff (who have consistently been a pleasure) Max gets the gold medal. After running diagnostics he suggested a new/different type of filter, which he said he would order. Max left and 5 minutes later rang the doorbell. Diagnosis, replace the entire wiring harness for $900+; I can buy a new one for slightly more. A pure guess for which I get to pay $100+. Nice gig if you can get it! Wanted $ 321 for $8 part. Called for service and told them the exact part to bring out. They came the next day without the part. Company then called me that day with a price. T.hey gave me a parts price of $ 321. I bought the part for $8 at a local parts house and replaced it in 5 minutes. I don't mind companies making a profit but 40x markup is a bit ridiculous. When I told them I can get the part for $8 they said they would look into it and call me back but they never did.-- Update -- Bobby the owner called me back and explained it was his mistake and had a incorrect part number.
