Great finds, organized, designer items, not just anthro and free people, good quality items, staff is friendly

Don't bother trying to sell nice clothes here. I tried selling Agolde and Frame jeans with tags on, Lovers & Friends and other Revolve dresses from this season. I was told that my clothes wouldn't sell well. If you look at the racks, it's endless poor quality tshirts and tanks from H&M, Target, and Forever 21. Don't waste your time. read more

This store has so much vintage clothing at great price. Better shirts that are used than new condition shirts. The experience is always good, never a negative one. The employees are all great with customer service and the vibes are just good in there. Feels safe and peaceful at this store. Quality thrift store! Coming into this review with the perspective of someone trying to sell. I sold 12 pieces to them for $45 in cash. I feel like I was lowballed, there were a lot of great pieces; brand NWT Outdoor Voices ($55 originally), madewell denim skirt, h&m skirt, adidas bodysuit, adidas dress, north face jacket, two top shop shirts that were NWT, and more other things. Staff told me they pay 20-30% back and I feel like my things were worth more than $45. I'm not salty though, I guess I just expected a little bit more. The staff were really nice and welcoming when I came in. They definitely have a good eye for clothes. I browsed around for a bit and there were a lot of nice pieces; some BCBG, Madewell, Forever 21, Miachael Kors, Shein, Lululemon, lots of OV, etc. read more

Here's an interesting fact about this business. Their return policy hinges on whether you provide your personal information (cell phone) to them, for marketing purposes. If you give your cell # they allow exchanges etc. if you don't-- non refundable. Customers shouldn't have to provide sensitive data to be able to return an item. This seems wrong and predatory, and needs to be reported. Bad business practices here. read more

I recently sold here and had a great experience and wanted to come on to tip the scales with a 5-star rating First let me say, wow! I was surprised at the number of people selling on a Monday afternoon, but it's clear I'm not the only one doing their spring cleaning! There was a huge line in front of me and even more came in after me. Seeing this, I realized they can and should be very selective about what they're purchasing. Even with all the hustle and bustle (and computers being down unexpectedly), everyone working was kind and pleasant. Next, I held back a few high end denim items and sold on Facebook marketplace for more than what I know I'd get in-store (ie my levis). It was super easy and took little effort. Just a tip for those of you hoping to make more for your items. For my other items, I decided to take them to Uptown to see what I could make before donating to a local woman's shelter (Safe Alliance for anyone who's interested!). I decide I was done with my items and therefore I'd be grateful for anything they'd like to buy and offer me for them... my mindset worked out well and while I didn't get rich off my used clothes, it was a nice little extra cash in my pocket! I def recommend selling your items at uptown if you're just planning to donate anyway. You might end up making a few bucks :) read more

Don't waste your time. They're selling damaged clothing that's maybe 10% less than retail prices... and you get a side of attitude with the dirty clothes. Go to Buffalo Exchange--honestly even Plato's closet is better-- instead. (This stands for both buying or selling). read more

Come here to buy, but do not come here to sell. I'm sure the customer service rep will reply to this and defend their process of buying items from sellers. If you go through all of the seller reviews in the past year you will see most of them were unhappy with the experience. So, yes they have good finds here. I always find at least one thing to buy whenever I visit this store. Sell your items at a different store though. You will most likely be dissatisfied no matter what Jackson says when he responds to this review. read more

They're a half-way between an outlet store and a thrift store - much of their inventory was directly from brands, especially athleisure and accessories. So if you're trying to sell, it's a low chance. The styles are limited and preppy, so not the spot where you'll find the great vintage finds. Their rules of waiting in-store for 1hr+ is also a bit unnecessary. If I want to go check out the art gallery next door and return in 15 minutes, they shouldn't have a problem with that, instead of forcing me to browse quite a limited inventory for over an hour. read more

I love this place! Yes, the prices are slightly higher than your standard Goodwill, but the quality of the items you can find here are more than worth the price tag. I'm currently revamping my workout wardrobe and there are plenty of higher quality athletic wear options available. The staff is always friendly and helpful as well! read more

Place was a bit chaotic. Makes sense because of the location. Very few options for men's clothing. Even fewer options for larger men (XL +). Pretty much a short wall and a half for all of the men's clothing. The rest of the place was women's clothing. I am hesitant to write this review, but I feel like I owe it to others that may decide they are going to visit the store to sell items. I have visited UC 4 times to sell items. And I have mostly been pleased with the results. I really don't get offended that they don't want some of my stuff. Whatever, it's a business. But I do think different buyers have different standards - they are human and have different opinions. Unfortunately this last time there was a dramatic change in the experience. This was the first time I went on a weekday (evening) as compared to a weekend (morning). I brought my items in and was told it was a 2 hour wait. I said no problem, I'm going to run a quick errand and be right back - I was immediately informed that I wasn't allowed to leave the shopping center. Ok, whatever (BTW -previous visits I did leave while they were going through things and I was always back way before they called my name) my fault for actually saying I was going to leave. I should have just done it and come back in 30 minutes. This definitely set the tone for my visit. So then all I had to do was sit and watch what they were doing. I watched them be condescending and what I would say is fake smile to customers. Once again, not that big of deal. It's a weird job judging stuff and then having to tell people about it. I don't really blame them for compartmentalizing. The real turn of events was 2 days later when I received a text from the store manager asking for feedback. I gave them 3 out of 5 "happy faces" and said that I didn't like waiting and I felt that the salespeople were sorta rude. Clearly the wrong feedback for UC. That opened up a gateway of texts that were so unprofessional; there were a million excuses on why they were rude and why the wait is so long. Finally I agreed to never go there again and that seemed to satisfy the management stating " I was no loss as a customer" . Shocking! I did forward the information to UC corporate management but they explained that the franchise is privately owned and can treat customers however they want. So my advice to potential customers, just keep your mouth shut. They really don't want anything less than a perfect review. (remember I gave them 3 out of 5 smiley faces - which is "okay") And I'm sure I will get a ton of backlash from management for this review as well. But before you decide to go all out and tell me I'm wrong, remember this is not a review of your staff or the store - this is a review of the management team that is so unprofessional and hypersensitive that they don't even want to improve. (And remember, I did share all of this with an attorney, so think twice before you try to intimidate or harrass me.) read more

Great place to sell gently or never-worn clothes. Service is polite and professional. The amount of money you get for what you paid is pennies on the dollar. I went to Uptown Cheapskate on S Lamar for the first time and it was ... kind of underwhelming? Nothing to do with the staff, they were very friendly and attentive. I think I was hoping to find more pieces to add to my collection and I wasn't able to find anything I love or in my size. However, I will say they have fitting rooms open (some shops don't) so this was much appreciated! Nothing worse than buying an item and getting home to discover it doesn't fit. Most prices I saw were in the 9.99-25.00 range, but this depends on the item, of course. Unsure if I'll be back? TBD. read more
