TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. This was my first time consigning with uptown and it will be my last. lets start from the beginning.. I showed up with 6 bags full of Free people, Raga, jeffery campbell shoes, anthropologie and urban outfitters @ the timonium location. A lot of the things were unworn with tags. I know this is subjective, but they were all in style and great brands and in great shape. I was feeling confident after strolling through the store and seeing absolute junk. Jewelry that looked dollar store quality... and vans shoes missing soles that they were asking $35 for. I didnt see a single thing I would have shown any interest in. I also had a bag of designer jeans and asked what the average pay out was and the teenage girl working told me less than $10, so I didn't even offer to have them rummaged through. They accepted 8 items and offered me $32!!!!! WHAT A JOKE!!! One of the items was a target sweater!? It seems like these children working there legit have no idea what they are doing. Even worse, they are so RUDE. I had no clue how long the process took so I asked an employee if I "needed to stay?" and she said "she would call when they were done". I ran an errand and called to get an update... the young woman who answered laughed and said "it was a 5 hour wait an hour ago and that I had 3 more hours to wait". I told her "no one informed me of that when I dropped off and tbh, u think they would, as thats a long time!" Had I known wait times were so long I would have opted for a day I had more time, or arrived when they opened. I explained "I don't live close"... and she started coping an attitude saying "she too drove there from the city everyday." Lets get this straight, I am the customer, you are the employee... apologize for your co workers lack of communication and or offer a solution or just move on. You don't get empathy for driving to and from your JOB. Funny part is she said I had "3 hours to wait" and that took us right to closing time. Which made no sense. So, I hiked all the way home and sure enough I got a phone call an hour later that my "offer was ready". THIS PLACE IS RAN BY CHILDREN AND IS A TOTAL JOKE. I stopped into this store on a whim to look for shirts for my husband. I found 2 that were not on sale. while buying them I had a long conversation with the young lady checking me out. I told her I was pretty confident that I would need to return at least one. Not once did she tell me that returns are only store credit. fast forward one week to me returning a shirt and finding out the policy. I don't usually shop here so I was dismayed. The attendants in that day were certain that someone must have told me- and look - it's written on the counter said the employee as she moved off whatever was concerning the policy. Then they proceeded with snide comments that only made my resolve stronger that I will never shop at Uptown Cheapskate again ever! My friend that was with me agreed. read more

This store is so-so. It appears that not a single adult works at this place, and for some stupid reason they don't offer carts or even baskets, but on the plus side, it's well-organized and tidy. Much of the stock features high-quality brands, and merchandise is plentiful. Clothing prices are generally reasonable. I hesitate to return here, however, because the store WITHHOLDS YOUR RECEIPT UNLESS YOU SIGN UP FOR THEIR PROMOTIONAL E-MAILS/"CLUB." If that manipulative policy isn't illegal it absolutely should be. Truthfully, I have just as good, if not better, luck at Goodwill in Cockeysville, where prices are cheaper anyway. read more

I had a car accident on the way back to getting my consignment deal written and they held my stuff for me and checked on me every day until I got back. Always great stuff to find here. Lots of times I find great deals on brand new stuff with tags. I don't recommend trying to bring stuff in to "sell" them because they pay absolute bottom dollar, designer or not. But hey, that's how they make the bargains possible I guess! read more

Service is horrible! I went to sell some items and was told a wait time of 4 hours . When I came back they still didn't review my items , there were 5 employees 2 of 5 not doing anything. I was told they are working as fast as they can and it would be another couple of hours. Maybe she was but others weren't even helping. I'm not waiting 7 hours to get $20 bucks . Just moved and had to get rid of some clothes. I went to Plato's closet and had a HORRIBLE experience. I was offered only $6.50 for 4 items from a box of pretty high quality clothes. I thought this was all I could get and accepted it sadly. Then I found Uptown Cheapskate online and figured I'd give it a try. It was a completely different experience. The store itself was well organized and had many quality pieces. They accepted 8 of my items for $24, which is double what Plato's closet was offering. All I had to do was go in and drop off my box. I worked with Lars. He was extremely stylish, polite, and nice about my clothes. They even folded what they didn't take! For next to no effort I got some cash for clothes I would have otherwise donated! read more

I Spent $100 in the Timonium Store went home and put a pair of pants on and the back pocket ripped.I went to exchange and they said they could not because it happened outside of the store.I was just looking to exchange for a new pair.They just lost a Customer for life!!!!! read more

EDIT: I was contacted by the store and was able to get my clothes back. Therefore, I am updating my review to 3 stars. However, as they mentioned, you are better off selling your clothes to online sites for a lot more money. EXTREMELY disappointed. i was offered a SMALL amount of cash/store credit ($15 cash/$18 store credit) for the clothes i sold there; they took a lululemon cardigan, brandy melville sweater and skirt, and levi's premium jeans. i did not feel like i had a choice in accepting the offer presented to me, as my clothes were already put away/aside. NEVER selling there again because it is a complete rip off AND i waited 1.5 hours just for that. if you're looking to make money off of your clothes, DO NOT sell to places like this - use ebay, depop, poshmark, mercari, etc. instead. read more

Nice selection of new and gently used cloths with many high end name brands. However, paying $12 - $20 for each piece it took away that thrill of finding something great for cheap when thrifting for me. Though they did have a 50%-70% off sale on select color coded tags. So I took in 6 pair of pants/jeans. 2 of those were never worn ( fake leather feel) from h&M (25$ retail) an old but barely wore miss me jeans ( retail was 150$ all rhinestones attached and lot better condition that the short I just bought there) a buckle jeans (retail 80$) and a 4 year old brand name real leather woman motorcycle jacket with lace insides not a scratch ( can't buy this exact one anymore but it's around 500-600$ retail. After a quick messenger conversation the day before they told me that they sell thing 1/3 of the retail price and but the 1/3 of that price.... they rejected all my pants and offered 8$ for my leather jacket!!!!! Everything is around a size 6-8 ... they said the reason that they can't sell that size ( size 6-8 is one of the most popular sizing) and too much wear and tear ( 2 of those pants were never worn or washed once) .... not impressed at all... read more

sold here yesterday for the first time in a while. i work in the resale industry so i kind of knew what to expect in terms of what they would take and for how much according to the market (this is a store for teens/young adults thus everything is priced fairly low, so dont expect a lot of $$). however i found it kind of odd/rude that despite them being very specific about how they wanted sellers to bring in clothes (freshly washed and laying flat in a box) everything they gave back to me was wadded up, completely wrinkled. one of my shoe heels was digging into a leather skirt that now might be ruined??? i was planning on taking the rest to plato's closet after but now i have to go home, rewash and iron everything before i can do so. like i've worked a buy counter before i know how hectic it can get. but it's really not too much to ask for things to be at least loosely folded back up or laying flat as i brought it. read more

I bought a brand new bralette made by Kathy Design U.S.A. It did not fit right. The exchange policy on the receipt says within 30 days for store credit only and Valid in full priced items. Must have tag and receipt. I took it in a week later. There were two cashiers working at the time and neither of them would give me store credit because I did not have an account with the store. They would not let me open an account so I could get the store credit either. read more

First time shopping at this store. overall experience was great. I do feel that prices on designer purses should be reevaluated in reference to used products although things appear to be in good condition, pretty excellent, I do feel that the prices on designer purses are still a little high for being used and post season, there are really good prices for shoes and clothing and you can also find things that haven't even been worn, which is good if you plan to visit, plan for when you can spend the time looking so you don't miss any great deals. Overall, my shopping experience was pretty good and customer service was very friendly. I definitely will return for the deals. read more

I have now been here twice and love it! I sold about 9 items the second time I came in and got store credit. On Wednesdays there's an additional 10% off when I traded in and bought items the same day. There's so much to look through and everything is trendy and in style. They start fitting rooms for you if your hands are full. Everyone is so nice and I definitely will be back! read more
