Told that I would only have to wait 45 minutes. I said okay I'll chill in the store. I come up and was like how much time left and she changed to saying it would take two hours now and I clarified asking was it from the time I had been waiting right? And she's said yeah. I said okay I'll go ahead and step out of the store. I come back and she says I have to wait another 45 minutes because | left like why did you not say that before | left? Only idiots work here. I also waited in store an extra 30 minutes and no one announced or called for me that my clothes were ready so I sat there with no notification either-I got shit to do. My 45 minute trip turned into almost 3 hours. Will not return here to shop either. read more

I went in here with high hopes and left disappointed. The prices were kind of ridiculous compared to what you could get on Vinted or Depop but I still decided to take a look. I found two items that I thought were really cute and I brought them to the register and then I noticed that the way that they put the tags into the clothes gives them holes. It's a shame because they're ruining perfectly good clothing by doing this. I worked in retail for years and every time I tagged clothing I was always told to do it on the seam, not right through the clothes. I didn't really want the clothes anymore, but I still asked if I could get a discount for the clothes that they ruined, not the original seller. She said that they could only give me a 10% discount and I could not return the merchandise. I opted for the Vuori leggings because I didn't think the hole was as bad but as you can see from the photos, it's still pretty bad, especially since these would've been a perfectly good pair of leggings if they didn't pierce them like that. The woman who I'm assuming was the manager at the time said that that's how they tag all their clothing so I would beware if you shop at this location because it doesn't sound like they're gonna change the way they tag clothes anytime soon and also I probably wouldn't sell your stuff here either because they're just gonna lowball you and then ruin it to sell it at a higher price. Workers were friendly but liars. The guy with curly hair lied to us about how long the wait was to get our clothes looked through to sell- we were told it would be 1.5 hour wait and it turned out to be a 4 hour wait- AND that was only because we came back to the store and he told us that we had to wait in store for the our turn to be quicker. Only sold 3 items out of two bags which was also very disappointing as we had good items. WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. read more

I brought in a whole storage container and 2 giant bags of clothes along with a bag of shoes all in good condition. I brought in about 2 lulu items as well that apparently were out of season (ok, that's fine) but there was a tonnnn of other really good condition and really good quality items and they only took 9 items. After forcing me to wait in the store for an hour and shopping around the whole time, to hear that my items weren't accepted because of the "condition" is insane. There was stained, balled up, dirty items all over the store that were clearly accepted. I was truly in shock to hear that my items weren't accepted after seeing the quality of items that were in the store. I've been to Uptown Cheapskate several times as both a shopper and seller, and while I like the idea behind the store, there are a few consistent issues that make the experience frustrating. The buying process feels really inconsistent. Even when I bring in items from brands listed on the store signage and website, it's a toss-up whether they'll be accepted. I understand trends play a role, but clearer, more consistent standards would be appreciated. The area behind the counter is almost always messy and disorganized, which makes me question whether items are being properly tracked or evaluated. On one visit, it took nearly 20 minutes just to find my stuff. It doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the process. The store itself also feels overstocked with items that don't seem to be moving, which makes me wonder about the effectiveness of the buying decisions. On top of that, I've heard different employees give conflicting answers about store policy, which only adds to the inconsistency. I really hope things improve, because the concept is great--but execution and organization could definitely use some attention. read more

Folks shop here on their lunch break! I often find that the best thrifting bet is to go without a goal in mind. Beware! This is a scam. I brought in 20 mens Designer dress shirts. All professionally dry cleaned and neatly folded. They hardly went through the items. In fact they were all still neatly folded as I had presented them. They said they could only purchase 1 item for $4.00, then they had the audacity to ask if I wanted to "donate" the remainder. I took the $4.00 and declined to donate the remainder. When I got home and unpacked the bag, they hadn't even taken out the "one" item. Just tells me they were trying to get something for nothing. read more

It's officially my last time going to this location. The staff is constantly unkind. This time my blood is boiling. I went in to sell clothes and when the associate rang me up for what they were buying from me, on the receipt with red marker it listed 4 brands I brought so I assumed thats what they were buying. She gave me no clarification of the receipt or show me what they were purchasing. A big black bin was next to me and she also didn't mention that was what they were buying so I didn't look inside. They offered me $11 TOTAL for a unworn pair of heels, a nasty gal top (rightfully so) AND THE KICKER WAS that also included a $180 pair of leather Wilfred pants with tags included. Again, I was told this after I saw the red marker brands and no explanation. The associate did not tell me what they purchased or show me so I agreed for that amount. When I finally saw what they "were buying" I asked to take the leather pants back. In conclusion they made me purchase them back. Absolutely ridiculous Not to mention, I did a drop off and waited three hours to come back. They told me I was still not in priority so they could transfer it to in-store the selling list and I still waited 50 minutes just to purchase my own clothes back. When I explained my confusion before I purchased them back, the associate that originally was checking me out, called me a liar. She had short dyed blonde hair and a black nose ring. read more

This review is only about trying to sell. I've been no less than 4 times with clothes to sell and they're not currently buying. There's always a reason--they don't buy an hour before closing, they're too busy (weekends), they don't have enough staff so buying is suspended, etc. It's just really frustrating to waste a trip so I'd recommend calling ahead of time. What they choose to buy versus not is also questionable. They have clothes with stains and holes on the racks? Could have been a couple misses, but it is surprising. read more

Brought over 40 items that retail for over $4000 (all literally brand new, with tags- Zara, Express, H&M, Free People, White House Black Market, Banana Republic) and after waiting two hours in the store for them to review the items, my name was called to claim the $ they were going to give me. The girl that I was working with- wouldn't give me her name but she had black hair and glasses- was extremely rude and dismissive. I asked to view the items they were purchasing and she proceeded to tell me that it was a waste of her time. She pushed my clothes off of the counter on to the floor and just stared at me without helping pick them up. I asked if she could hand me the rest of the items so I could place them in a different bag since I decided I didn't want to sell my items but she again just stared at me and piled them so the items fell back on to the floor. I am not only extremely disappointed in the poor customer service and disgruntled employee that is working at the front but concerned that they pay so little for new with tag clothing. In conclusion- I understand that they buy based on what they feel would sell best, however the customer service was disgraceful and the person I worked with was EXTREMELY rude and blatantly disrespectful. When trying to speak with management, I was told that they are not allowed to notify manager and that they are not permitted to provide me with names of employees. The response I got from the manager based on this review says that it's not personal however throwing my items on the floor and staring at me is Personal shouldn't be tolerated in a customer service or front facing business environment. read more
