I came to dr armstrong dental office for major dental work in February of 2025. I had three crowns done in one day and the experience and dental work were horrendous. From the scattered and unprofessional dentist to the dental assistant and new hire that worked on my mouth, it was a nightmare. The crowns are awful, I cannot floss between them, almost a year later. One of the crowns looks like a chewed up piece of gum in my mouth, the other crown is completely round on the backside and feels like a marble in my mouth. I complained the next day after an almost 8 hour appointment in the chair, that my crowns were banging whenever I tried to chew or close my mouth. So, they brought me in again and while im in the chair, the dentist was trying to convince me that his work was so good, and the crowns looked great. When I physically showed him my bite was off, instead of fixing the crown, he shaved down the tooth next to it.y teeth were not banging as much after, but still look and feel unnatural in my mouth. I was so frustrated with the experience I left and found another dentist This office billed my insurance for another exam/ consultation the next day when I came in complaining about the work. Extremely unprofessional and amateur. All of the crowns look unnatural, one molar looks like a chewed up piece of gum, one is molded to an angle (this is a molar) whereby one side of the tooth is half the height of the other side, almost like a cliff, and the other molar is shaped like a marble in the back so its rounded and just mashed food when I chew. This was a VERY expensive experience that left me worse off then when I went in. I will spend a lot more money to fix their work and I am working on reporting this office, the upper east side location the the ny dental board. I've had two appointments at Armstrong Dental. My first one was a 1pm appointment and I walked in around 12:56. The entire staff was in the waiting room eating lunch, and they all looked at me like I was actually crazy for being there. When I said I had a 1pm appointment they were like "what time is it?" And someone said "12:56" and they all were just looking at me....it was beyond uncomfortable. I said "I can wait for a few minutes until 1 and come back if you prefer"....they said yes. So I stood in the hallway until I was allowed in. The appointment itself went fine minus the fact that they were trying some new scanning thing for getting a night guard. They did it on me two different times before they came to the conclusion that it didn't work well enough and did ANOTHER machine - they did all this despite me expressing the extreme jaw pain I have and how difficult it is for me to keep my mouth open due to TMJ jaw complications. A cleaning and getting fitted for a night guard all in all took almost 2 hours. In general it seemed they try a bunch of "new" machines and there was a medical sales rep there when I had first arrived (once I was was allowed in lol). 2 weeks later I came back for a filling and to get my night guard. I had a 2:30pm appointment and they called me earlier in the day asking if I could do 2:00pm instead. I moved my work schedule around to accommodate for the change in time. I showed up at 2:00pm......and then proceeded to wait 48 minutes in the waiting room. When I asked them why they had me move my appointment just to wait they said something about a broken machine and gave me a whitening kit as an apology. I finally sat down in the chair and they seemed surprise there was a filling scheduled and were referring to it as a "last min add on" to the appointment...when that was what the entire appointment was. They also then said the reason for the delay in my apt was a dental emergency. At that point I didn't even have time for the filling anymore and they clearly did not account for me getting one too, so I asked them if I could just get the night guard and leave. I of course did not reschedule the filling and got a refund on half the price of the filling I had to pay for at my previous appointment. The staff themselves are all really kind but the office is not well run whatsoever and I won't be returning. I have never left a review in my life lol but this felt warranted given the experience I had. read more

I took my 93 year old dad last week because of his pain and needed to get an appointment asap --- I went on ZocDoc and found this gem of a doctor and his staff. I couldn't be more blessed to meet Dr. Armstrong and his WONDERFUL staff. I will be bringing dad back and I will become a new patient as well. first and foremost your team out right lied. they insisted that you were in network with my insurance when you were not therefore giving you Doc and your team to bill my insurance at an insane rate because as you know if you are out of network you can bill anything you want so to that point you robbed me and my insurance company. next your claim about me not being reason able. i totally agree with you because I asked 1 simple question "what did you bill my insurance company and to date your team never responded to a question that any other dental office would be happy to answe. mmmm do i smell something fishy here??? some office manager that choose to talk over me without responding to a very basic and reasonable question???? And on my behalf there were no threats simply the truth and I have follow through on disclosing how you run your business and that it is important for you the successful dentist to steal from a senior citizen. that just of professionalism. I'll start by saying that the desk staff and my hygienist were very kind people. That being said, I tried to get an appointment with Dr. Armstrong. Initially, without telling me, they set me up with a different dentist because he had an emergency. Fine, things happen of course, but I wish they told me ahead of time and gave me the option to reschedule because it is weird to book with a specific dentist online (who you read reviews for) and get someone completely different in the moment. They did understand this and proactively communicated with me going forward. But I booked a follow-up with the Dr. for a concern I had about a bump I noticed on my gums. During this 2nd visit to the studio (which they had to reschedule the timing, again, for), I did feel a bit rushed like he had somewhere else to be. I dont feel he took my concern super seriously, and told me that the bump felt like "some variation of normal" when it clearly looks bigger than the other side, and I said it had recently appeared. I did not feel confident in this assessment so I went to another dental office later to get a second opinion. Before I even got a chance to bring it up, they immediately noticed it and did a preliminary cancer screening (scary, but necessary if you find any sort of lump!), agreed that the issue was odd, and that they would like to look into it more. read more

I recently had a crown done, and since I haven't had any dental work done outside of cleanings for 15yrs, I was nervous. I initially was pleased with my service until I came in for my root canal/filling/crown. After being called in and being given the numbing gel the Dentist (Chub) informs me that because I take HB medication my PCP would need to clear me before the procedure and since he heard me say l had recent gallbladder surgery he would need clearance. He went on to state that l did not document I had gallbladder surgery on the health assessment l completed several weeks ago. My issue is I did document my medication and if clearance was needed why didn't they contact my PCP (the contact information for my PCP was documented on the health assessment I initially completed) and obtain clearance before having me sit in the dentist chair with numbing gel in my mouth. My other issues is them implying that l intentionally didn't tell them about having my gallbladder removed. The health assessment does not ask "have you had any recent medical procedures" it asks "is there anything we may need to know about for medical status". Maybe l should have known to mention it but l did not think my gallbladder surgery would have any connection to a root canal. The tone and manner in which this was handled was offensive and rather than the office assistant just processing my refund like l requested he kept attempting to explain why they are not at fault which just reinforces their implication that l was at fault. It's interesting that they need my payment before I can be seated in the dentist chair but they do not need the medical clearance they are requesting before I not only sit in the dentist chair but before they give me the numbing gel. Dental patient can already be anxious when having dental work, to be managed in this manner just added to my anxiety. I had a very bad experience at this Dentist's office. I was advised to get an "onlay" as one of my fillings became loose over time. I agreed and they put the onlay in. About two months later the onlay disintegrated in my mouth. I went back in and they said they had never seen anything like that and said they would redo the procedure. I went back in and they redid all of the work. A few weeks later the onlay chipped off and made my tooth extremely sensitive. I went back in and they said "maybe it was due to an old filling on a different tooth?" I had no faith at this point that they could successfully do the procedure so I went to another dentist for a second opinion. This new dentist said they should have never done an onlay in the first place and the onlay was never done correctly as multiple parts of my original tooth were exposed. Needless to say, I spent over 2500 dollars and had a total of 6 visits to address the tooth. I ended up having a crown put in somewhere else and had a very enjoyable experience. Please note; that I have NEVER left a review before (good or bad) but felt compelled to share my experience. I love this place! I've been going to Doctor Armstrong for about a year. My appointments always start on time, everyone on staff is personable and friendly and the establishment is clean. I highly recommend. I love the goodie bags they give out too. I go every 3 months for a teeth cleaning, so I know that there service is consistent and high quality. Last personal touches are great. From the very first appointment he and his staff (Jill, Tea and Shari) have made me feel comfortable, not judged and well taken care off. It's the day after and I am pleasantly surprised. I consider myself to have a very high-level of dental phobia (for good reason). Previous inexperienced and/or uncaring practioners have traumatized and left me in a poor dental state. But it's something about a toothache that will not be ignored no matter how bad the experience has been. That's where Dr. Omar Armstrong and his team comes in. I literally sat in the waiting room - edge of the seat, fists clenched and practicing Gasalt breathing techniques (sort of asking jokingly for a sedative)! The 90 to 120 minutes that followed was by far the best ever. Like best chef, best pilot, best barber/hairstylist BEST. The things we cannot do for ourselves we depend on someone we can trust. When that someone best themselves is something to behold. I have not taken 1 pain medication post procedure. There's no blood when I brushed my teeth. I'm on my way to the bowling alley. If you're like me and need but don't want to go to the dentist try Dr. Armstrong (hurry up, he's booked)! I would have hugged him but I didn't want things to get weird. read more

So, I recently moved to New York City for a new job after transitioning out of the military, and an executive invited me to a black tie event at my company. The last time I visited the dentist was in the service in February, so it was about time for a cleaning - the logical step was to find a dentist, figure out how civilians get dental care, and get cleaned up for the dinner. Or so I thought. I found Dr. Armstrong online via ZocDoc, and he of course (as you'll learn in this review) comes highly recommended - NYU graduate, and you can't beat the warm and inviting smile on the website! I figured, "this guy looks pretty cool, I'll check him out." I came in for my cleaning, got some x-rays done, and before the dental hygienist began her work, she had an "uh oh" moment and called Dr. Armstrong. Lo and behold, I had not one but TWO cavities, one of which had been in decay for at least a year, but most likely two or more years. How was this possible? I religiously went to the dentist in the military every six months (as required by the command for statistics) including cleanings, x-rays, and more!? Her response: "I don't know." Yeah, I DO know! Military dental care apparently sucks! But you know who doesn't suck? Dr. Armstrong and his entire staff. Here's the deal - I needed a root canal. I told my mom, and my mom was like "you would know if you needed a root canal - you'd be in so much pain!" so I freaked out, thinking a root canal meant I would lose my tooth altogether. I got a second opinion, and the whole time Dr. Armstrong & Jill, the office administrator, were both cool as a cucumber. They reassured me multiple times in my freak out mode that I would be fine, and showed extreme patience and professionalism as I sought a second opinion. Long story short, root canal and other filling went off without a hitch, I have a crown that fits my rooted tooth like a glove, and I have myself a go-to dentist for anything I need. I like Dr. Armstrong & Jill and everyone else there so much that I'm going back next week for an Invisalign consult. So whatever you're doing, if you're considering Dr. Armstrong, stop reading this right now and make an appointment. You will not be disappointed, and the costs, at least for my treatment plan, were extraordinarily reasonable compared to what some of my colleagues and friends said they paid for a similar treatment! Dr. Armstrong - best dentist I've had in my life, no joke. Even my childhood dentist didn't show the kind of compassion, humor, and "bedside" (chairside?) manner that Dr. Armstrong has. The office assured me the work they were planning was covered by insurance. The insurance company refused to cover the services, which I only learned after half the work had been done. The initial visit I had with Dr. Armstrong was great, he gave me a check up & game planned a treatment plan I agreed with. The Cleaning I was given by the hygienist was really good. Sadly thats where my praise of Dr. Armstrong ends & my nightmare begins. On Wednesday August 7th we started work on my teeth, on that day he crowned a tooth I was in desperate need of crowning, but for the next 4 days my bottom jaw was swollen, I called Dr. Armstrong to express my concern about the swelling, I spoke to Jill (his receptionist) because Dr. Armstrong was busy, but he told me, she told him. Dr. Armstrong told me that it could be an allergic reaction to the injection and anesthesia he used which he told me was Septocaine, and that he would not use that on me again because Im having a bad reaction to it. The following week on Monday August 12, 2019 at 11am he did work on another tooth on the top left side by putting an inlay in it; before doing any work we spoke about my negative reaction to the Septocaine, but guess what anesthesia he uses on me again to numb me up? Yup, Septocaine. This time my negative reaction was worse, at 6pm later that Monday evening my upper cheek where he gave me the injection was still numb, which was odd because I have never been that numb for so long after a dental appointment, but I decided to sleep it off hoping the numbness would be gone when I wake the next morning. I woke the next day Tuesday Aug 13, looked in the mirror and the left side of my cheek was very swollen and I was still numb. I called Dr. Armstrong to tell him what was happening, he prescribed a steroid, before excepting it I told him I would need to research it first. I went to the emergency room because its closer for me to get too than taking the train to see Dr. Armstrong, to make sure I didn't have an infection, but he got upset with me for doing that when I spoke to him later that day to tell him that I want to take the steroid prescription he said would reduce the swelling. Wednesday Aug 14 I decided to go down to Dr. Armstrong's office so he can visually expect my swelling and game plan a treatment to help me get better, but while there he was talking to me roughly, despite me talking to him calmly and respectful, it was like I was dealing with Dr. jekyl and Mr Hyde. Long story short after that 34minute surprising experience at his office on Aug 14 (I can easily go into detail because I have it ALL documented in case he or his staff want to deny any of this, but I'm trying to brief to not make this too long), it has been 3 weeks since he did the work on me and now my left cheek is still a little puffy, numb and now stiff when I lift or lower the left side of my upper lip and its now sensitive where he gave me the injection. I had the follow up check up with him on August 28 where yet again I felt like he didn't care about my current situation, he was acting dismissive looking at his phone, etc.. Despite me telling him that I wasn't feeling any pain in my teeth, that I was only having sensitivity where he gave me the injection about 3 weeks ago and told him my current symptoms (mild puffiness in my left cheek, lingering mild numbess and stiffness at the injection site, now I have pins and needles numb sensation on the left side of my upper lip especially when I brush my teeth in that area) and after he told me on August 14th that he might have to give me a referral to his neurologist, he instead tells me that he doesn't have a neurologist for me to see, but instead gives me a referral to a root canal specialist. Now, I'm upset because of what I'm going through, but still calm and composed, I tell a gentleman that was waiting in his waiting room to be careful; Jill the receptionist tells me thats not nice to say, I ask her what's not nice? And said you all requested a review from me my first one was positive, but I can also give a negative one. I also said with Dr. Armstrong standing there, he constantly said for me to trust him, yet when you go to his office there's a sign that states payment must be paid in full before any work will be done... Jill said that's not our sign, I responded by saying but you do uphold to its message/policy, because before Dr. Armstrong did any work on me, he asked the receptionist if I paid my bill in full before he brought me to the back to work; so the same trust he wanted from me (and other patient) he didn't have in me, a now former patient. I left this similar review on Google, but when I looked for it, its no longer there to view if I'm not logged in, so I wonder if some how they figured out how to delete negative review. Since I haven't reached the character limit, I want to say... Also check with your insurance company about their prices, they brag about discounts they give but when I double checked with my insurance about the procedure, they weren't giving a big discount maybe $20 if at all. I went to see Dr.Armstrong for the very first time. With that name I figured let's see how strong his arm really is. Well he is strong yet gentle and give that fear feeling of being at dentist office right out the door. He assistant was also very gentle and I am the biggest baby when dealing with my teeth. They make you feel comfortable and there is no worry at all sitting in the seat. They go over everything wrong and right with you teeth and mouth. Highly recommended, I drove all the way from Long Island suffolk county north fork just to see what the hype was about. And yes. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back for more work and yearly cleaning. Very clean space very happy people very friendly doctors and staff. They definitely care about you and your smile. I was looking for an in-network, Black dentist in Brooklyn and after many hours of research and reviews but couldn't find one. Then, I found Dr. Omar Armstrong in Manhattan. When I got to the office, I didn't finish filling out my forms because I saw them late and I thought that the ones I filled out on Zocdoc were applicable. Kadijah, one of the receptionists, was very friendly and told me that I could take my time and finish them and tell her when I'm done. When I was finished, it took no more than 10 minutes for Jasmine to take my x-rays and she was very professional and explained everything that she was doing. Then the hygienist, Keyla, was super nice and gentle. After Gloria who was assisting her, was finished entering the numbers in the computer, she explained what the numbers meant and the possible care I would need. Then came Dr. Omar Armstrong! Such a nice man with good bedside manners. He explained everything to me and which was most "urgent" and wanted to know if I had any concerns. Omar the other receptionist explained to me the course of dental work I needed and the possible costs. This office is DRIPPING! in very warm, friendly, nice, professional people. I've never been to a doctor's office and the wait was so short. Except for PT because we all have an hour session. I didn't even feel like I was at a dentist office. I have had 2 root canals (feel asleep during both), had a 30+ yr old broken tooth temporarily replaced and just fixed with a permanent fix, a tooth extraction with a bone graph (dozed off a few times there), a thorough cleaning and planning future dental work to be done by Dr Armstrong. All this work done with in 2 months. No pain, no pain I repeat no pain. I put my trust in him and his staff not just for myself but my family also. Make an appointment and its true to the time. No waiting for long periods like some other dental places we tried. I work for MTA and my insurance wasn't any problem. What I had to pay out of pocket for was more than reasonable. Clean office and I felt at home from the first visit. I respect the fact that he lets me know everything. From xrays and 3D pictures of my teeth. A thorough treatment plan for my dental health needs. If you have ever been fearful of the dentist, join the club. I am embarrassed to speak of how long I have avoided them. Longer then I am willing to write on this review. I live in Florida, and was on a trip to visit family. I had a couple of teeth that had become pretty painful in the month leading up to it. But my fear compromised my intellect and I procrastinated to address the situation. It got to the point of no return while in NY. I asked my family where to go, and this is where they referred me. So, in all my fearful glory, I scheduled the appointment. Jill, who works the front desk, was amazingly sweet and walked me through all my questions, concerns, and even helped me with my insurance information. They got me in really fast, and then came the day. My anxiety was off the charts. The minute I was brought in the room they helped me to feel really relaxed about what they were going to do. Tia, their hygienist, is sooooo nice. I mean really nice. She even gave me a stress ball to squeeze, shaped like a tooth. Nice touch. Well played Dr. Armstrong, well played. Then Dr Armstrong came in. He spoke to me about what he was going to do. I immediately began to relax. Maybe its his voice. Maybe it's his delivery. Maybe a little of both. He made me fell a LOT better then I ever expected to feel. This was the most important part of the visit for me. You need to understand how fearful I am. This was a big step for me and he pulled it off, with the patience of a saint. Once the Novocaine was given, it was a breeze. I put headphones on and literally fell asleep during the 1st root canal. No lie. Maybe I was so worked up that I exhausted myself to that point, but none-the-less, it was amazingly painless. Yes, I said first, because I had second and a cavity filled. He followed up with aftercare instructions and I left there so mad at myself for taking so long to address these issues. So mad for being so scared. So mad that it took not being able to eat so many foods due to pain. But it was a life changer. I was back to enjoying food again without any pain. I thanked them immensely for the way they treated me. But I wanted to share it with others. I am new to this practice and I have to say this is the best dentist office I have ever been to! I've been to multiple practices over the last 6 years primarily in Manhattan and this was my best experience. I was seen within 5 minutes of checking into my appt. I had the nicest dental hygienist who took her time with performing my X-rays and doing my cleaning. Afterwards, I met with Dr. Armstrong and he took his time explaining my X-rays and going through the images of my fillings. I am glad I finally found a dentist who is reliable, patient, and kind. My first visit with Dr. Armstrong and I felt comfortable from the start. Knew I had serious issues with loose teeth for quite awhile but when he advised me to remove all my top teeth and get implants I had complete trust. After receiving a fair price the procedure went smoothly from the start. Virtually pain free extraction of ten teeth followed by temporary teeth while the implants healed. I've had some pretty bad experiences at other dentist offices so I've been putting off checkups for cavities and a potential root canal for a long time now but I've been going to Dr Armstrong's office since January and I am so glad and thankful to have met this team. I am writing a review now because my experiences have CONSISTENTLY been phenomenal. Dr Armstrong and Tia, the dental hygienist, are so patient and gentle and efficient every single time. They answer all my nervous little questions and concerns before and after a procedure and are readily available to consult with even on the phone. Also, I'd like to note that since January I've had a few appointments with their practice now and so far there have been no sneak-attack bills like with other medical practices that I've come across. I can attest that they're very honest and will let you know in advance if there are any differentials they require before providing a procedure/treatment. I just completed implants with Dr. Armstrong. It was a positive experience all around. Within a two month period, I had an extraction, implants and crown with nearly no pain or discomfort. This is the second day with the new tooth in my mouth and it feels like it has been there all of my life. In March, I will be going for my cleaning at Dr. Armstrong's office. I am happy that I was referred by my sister to a practice that does such good work as well as one that is always professional, helpful and extremely pleasant. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Armstrong since 2012. He was previously at another dental office where I was in need of a dentist and happened to make an appt with him. Sooo HAPPY I did- Dr. Armstrong is AMAZING!! Very patient, professional- and a great listener. So many times- especially in this city, doctor visits can make you feel so "rushed" or like just another face among many. Not with my Dentist. He listens and takes his time to explain procedures and answers medical questions thoroughly. I always feel like he is fully attentive and genuinely concerned about his patients' care. I'm so proud he now has his own practice! He removed my Wisdoms- and now I'm so excited that he is treating me for Invisalign. Jill holds down the fort at the front of the office- she's very friendly and outgoing which adds to a great office visit. called in the morning and they were able to give me a 12pm appointment same day. talk about accommodating. the hygienist Tia was so lovely and gentle. she did an excellent, thorough job cleaning my teeth and took her time.
