To be honest... if a zero rating was possible, I would have picked that. I sat on my decision to place this review for a little over a week and in the end... I just had to get it out of my system. What was meant to be a convenient to-go order (in and out) ended up taking way too much time on the evening of a day when all I wanted was a good meal and relax at home. Called the order in and was told there would be about a 20 minute wait... so I timed my arrival and walked through the door about 18 minutes later. As expected, I was told the order was about 2 minutes from being ready... so, I paid and waited. I forgot to include that the moment I walked through the door... one of the wait team had a very obvious and annoyed look at their watch... made me feel right at home and welcome! Now, at regular 3-5 minute intervals, I was told that it would only be a couple more minutes... or that they were still working on my order, which was finally handed to me after about 15 minutes after paying and tipping. Thought I'd just shake it off and drive home to enjoy my meal... but that was not the end of it. The one star goes to the fries... they were well cooked and seasoned. However, the Classic Cheeseburger was stodgy, overcooked and pretty much lacking flavor. I expected it to be somewhat soggy, due to pick-up and drive time... but the rest of the experience failed compensate for that aspect. So here it is... and I have been to Uptown Lounge several times in the past without disappointment, but no stand-out experiences... this one killed it for me and can not imagine a scenario that will see me try again! read more

Drove in from Oly to play some trivia on Tuesday night. While we didn't win, we did have some fun with friends! I got a mixed drink that had rum, orange and pineapple juice and it was so tasty. I might have drank it a little too fast. All of our friends got food and we were a little underwhelmed but the drinks really made up for it. We are planning to come back for drinks, trivia and yummy movie theater popcorn in the near future. read more

Love this place! I saw a few pictures on Facebook that caught my attention and wanted to give this place a try for my birthday, so that's what we did. We ordered the cowboy burger, fries, street tacos and all were excellent! We also ordered a few regular drinks and a couple of specialty drinks- so cute and delicious! Also do not make light handed drinks like normal bars with specialty drinks. We loved everything about our experience. Very comfortable seating, beautiful decor and great service. Our bartender was Megan and she was GREAT! We also witnessed the general manager watering all of the outside plants (in his suit!), we were impressed with every aspect of our visit. We are new to town and were recommended this place for dinner. It's definitely modern and trendy. Lounge style seating, lot's of couches. Instagram-worthy setting. We were seated fairly quickly outside at a normal table. The menu isn't too extensive, but there are a good selection of items - appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc. It is a little on the expensive side. We did not order any alcoholic beverages, so I cannot tell you how those were. Upon ordering beverages, you also receive a small complementary bowl of popcorn. We ordered the Fried Pickles as an appetizer, and they arrived rather quickly. Large portion, served with honey mustard and ranch sauce. They were really good! We didn't get appetizer plates, so it was a little hard to eat as they were very very hot. Entree wise, I got a Classic Cheeseburger and my boyfriend got the Cheesy Bacon Cowboy. Both were cooked correctly as ordered - juicy, hot and fresh. A great tasting burger! Fries were a little soggy and cold, but not inedible. Service was a little on the slower side, but was nothing to really complain about. Just plan accordingly if you are seeing a movie. Will definitely stop back by! Usually our 10/10 with our date nights but they are suffering short staffage and changed up the menu and took off some of our favorites. Our last meal was lacking but the staff was running at 150% to make up for it. Can't fault them still. Hopefully they bring back the spinach artichoke dip because it will be missed for sure. Great service!!! My husband and I came here for my birthday dinner. The lounge is very nice because it is connected to an adjacent movie theatre - makes grabbing drinks all the more fun since you can catch a move after! Food was delicious and their cocktails were fun and colorful (candy-topped cocktails are my weakness). Our waiter was incredibly kind and prompt and even brought a free birthday dessert for us. We go here regularly and would normally give a solid 4+ rating. Tonight both the food and the service were subpar. We were quickly seated, the waitress gave us menus and told us she'd be right back. She was then gone for 10-15 minutes ringing up the table next to us then chatting comfortably with them (I think they were friends). We finally put in our order, now having only about 35 min until our movie started. Drinks took a long time to come. I go there specifically for the fried green beans. They were bad tonight. Barely any breading and limp/soggy. The spinach dip tasted like it came from Walmart (the bread with it was good). The tacos were good but had no sauce/salsa and the waitress argued with us about it. When we were asked a bout the food she offered to take green beans away. At this point we certainly had no time to wait for new ones. Bill was around $70 for 2 well drinks and food. Service and food was excellent. The Apple Burger was very very good. If it sounds like I'm exaggerating, you just have to try it for yourself and leave your own review about how delicious it was. First bite caught me by surprise and then it continued to get better with every bite. Ingredients may sound a bit odd for a burger. But again, seriously, give it a try! You won't be disappointed. I am a longtime patron of Yelm Cinemas but have never made it over to Uptown Lounge. It didn't really seem like my spot, haha. Anyway, my brother and I checked out the first ever "Macho Man Monday" with beer tasting and movie. The beer tasting was Top Rung Brewery from Lacey. The service was pretty decent at Uptown. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She didn't bring us any popcorn, though, and that was a bit disappointing, several other tables got popcorn. The beer tasting started off late and wasn't much of a tasting. Pints were $4 and a flight of tasting beers was $4 as well. They also had some great food deals for Happy Hour, which ran from 4-6. We tried to fried pickles, crab dip, and street tacos. The food was all REALLY good. The best fried pickles, I've ever had. I've tried them several places including Hooters, Bdubs, Downtown Disney, etc. The fried pickles are light and fluffy with not too much breading and really fresh tasting pickles. The crab dip wasn't too crabby, haha. The tacos were off the hook and had some awesome carnitas with sriracha and fresh slaw. Overall, this is a great spot. Go get some good eats and catch a movie afterwards! read more

Only came with 2 tenders, the fries are actually terrible and unedible, I don't even taste salt on them. The honey mustard is tasty, but that's about it. Oh and I asked for ranch and honey mustard. Yelm'ers may think this place is nice, because there's not a lot in Yelm. But that's no excuse for giving a bad restaurant a good review. The "loaded" potato skins were "bare" with very little cheese and hardly any bacon. I had asked for no sour cream, maybe it's the sour cream they "load" on. Although I do admit, the potato part tasted good. But that credit goes to Sysco and likely the microwave. The $15 burger was worse than a $6 McD 1/4 pounder. Bland, flavorless meat. Over cooked from how I ordered it and the bun, although stamped with the restaurant name, tasted factory made. The fries were coated in a ranch sprinkle, nothing on the menu tells you this. So if you hate ranch, expect to be disappointed with the french fries. The $6 sliver of chocolate cake was from Sysco, a bulk food supplier. The taste of cheap quality chocolate was not improved by the super boring "can" whipped cream, that they claim is "vanilla infused". It was actually "air infused" To top it off, a soda was $3.50. That is the highest price I've "ever" seen for a beverage in a restaurant. The atmosphere is hallow and bright with sounds you'd expect in a bar, not a restaurant. Likely why they call it a "lounge". So expect lounge food at fine dining prices. It's not acceptable for people to think anything about Uptown Lounge is acceptable just because of the fancy menu and stylish furnishings. It's pretentious without cause, a spot for people who truly have no standards, and you'll need deep pockets. $60 for dinner (no cocktails ) for two should be a great dinner, and a great experience. Uptown just doesn't provide that. You'll also need lots of patiences, since service is slow. I suspect a very small kitchen staff who can't keep up with a full restaurant. A note to the waiter, the $2 (3.34%) tip was for your lack of empathy for my dissatisfaction which should have been clear by my unfinished plate, and for making me wait 15 minutes, after clearing our table, to bring me the check. Then another 5 minutes to come back to pick it up. Thumbs down to "Uptown Lounge" of Yelm. read more

Made a reservation with the female manager for trivia night for 6+ who advised they COULD accommodate our party by putting a few smaller tables together since large tables were full. Arrived at UL with party (all traveling various distances)and no reservation was recorded nor was my name written down anywhere insinuating I had never called in advance. Female Manager lacks serious customer service skills, is argumentative, and was also sure to add her sny comment as I left in front of the crowd of customers waiting to be seated. My saving grace was I made the call on a recorded line from my work which can be forwarded on to her supervisors for their review. Sadly We have gone to UL many times but after this display of blatant rudeness NEVER again. How embarrassing for UL to have an employee like this at their establishment. read more

Comfortable, airy for conversations, stylish, large spread of TVs, wide variety of food and drink selections in lengthy food and drink menus. We always split entrees as portions are large +++. Salads are our usual choice, especially Chinese chicken. Excellent, friendly service. They know you when you return. We live in Olympia but Uptown is our favorite adult bar in the area worth the 20 minute drive. read more

Went here tonight for the first time and will definitely be back! From walking in to when we left it was such a great experience! The manager (I'm guessing since he was wearing something different from everyone else) who sat us didn't stop working the entire time we were there with helping bus tables getting people seated and bringing food out even! Chase our server was hands down one of the best servers I have ever had! We had him pick out our entrees and his picks were amazing! The best thing on the table was the theater popcorn from next door. Over or undercooked and either bland or burn-your-tongue salty. I was very excited to try this place as a friend had told me about several visits that were very good. We went together today after seeing a movie. Unfortunately, they must have had a very off-day as we were both rather disappointed. The Cedar Plank Salmon was a little smaller than I was expecting, but not too bad for the price. That's the best I can say about it though as I left half of it on my plate due to the fact that it was undercooked. I had to pick around the edges or cut off the top 1/8" to eat as the center was cool, almost cold, and raw. The potato/corn/pepper mix was okay, if a bit dry. The zucchini/squash/greens tasted good, but were overdone and limp. The Nachos were my friend's favorite - homemade, thick-cut potato chips instead of tortilla chips, their own cheese sauce, jalapeños, steak bits with sour cream, salsa and guacamole on the side. He said the steak was good, but that's about the end of the compliments on this as well. As for the place itself - it looks nice, but during the day that 25+ foot tall wall of windows made for a VERY bright interior. I also had to leave the restaurant, go past the ticket counters, snack counters and down a hall into the theaters to use the bathroom as there is no separate one for the restaurant. The menu was a good one but the execution was also spotty - my hearty turkey soup was lukewarm and only had two small chunks of turkey, my friend's grilled cheese sandwiches were overly dry, and my other friend's salad was dressed with balsamic instead of blue cheese on the side like she asked.
