Did anyone know this salon suite building existed? I sure didn't! Parking: very convenient Entering the building: everyone is greeting by someone at the front desk who will escort you upstairs to the suite you are searching for. As a first time visitor I appreciated this gesture. I visited the LIVING WHOLE COMPANY in suite 217. As the young lady showed me upstairs she pointed out the restaurants and refreshment bar along the way. Like most salon suites each is unique in their own way. I noticed many business owners tending to customers. The restrooms were clean and stocked with toiletries. I sat outside the Living Whole Company suite and waited to enter. The room was beautifully decorated - zen and quiet. Stephanie provided great service. My polish change appointment went excellent. I paid roughly $50 total. Extremely well-kept menagerie of salon businesses. Beautiful aesthetics, superbly clean. A concierge greets you at the desk in the front lobby to help you find your suite. Aesthetics are chic, feminine, and inviting. Restrooms are pristine. There are coffee/snack stations throughout, if you'd like to treat yourself to a complimentary snack. I've only been here once to try a body waxing provider (shout out to The Silky Peach for their excellent service), but there's a few more businesses on their directory I'm interested in checking out. I researched tons of places and recommended Lauren Holmes to my wife. She visited her once and loved her - amazing haircut. The sucky part is the follow up - my wife reached out multiple times for an Appt but she didn't respond, and when she eventually responded she didn't even share her availability. Not sure if it's my wife's race, or what, but TERRIBLE service. I wouldn't recommend Lauren to anyone! read more

*Uptown salon is a salon with several different independent business so this review is really based on what you need and this is based on my experience.* The front desk receptionist is really friendly and helpful! I came in to get my hair cut (and I was in desperate need for a haircut) and for personal reason the lady I scheduled with did not show up. The receptionist was very understanding and she immediately try to get someone else to do my hair and luckily she introduced me to Isabelle. Isabelle already had her day full of appointment and she managed to squeeze me in before her next client. Not only did she cut my hair as fast as she can (I'm a mom so I can't stay too long getting my hair done) she gave me exactly what I asked for! Isabelle is friendly and doesn't make awkward conversation. I'm very happy with the service I received here and I will definitely get my haircut with Isabelle again (she listen to you and what you want. She also offers suggestions to make sure you get the cut you want!!!) I would definitely recommend uptown salon and to check out Isabelle if you want a cut & style. read more

I'm surprised this salon doesn't have more reviews, because my experience here was too good not to write one. I've been on the rocks about cutting and coloring my hair all summer, because with my college student budget, I wanted to find a decently priced salon. The last time I got my hair professionally done, I paid a great amount and wasn't completely in love with it as the color was hardly noticeable so I was a bit afraid this time to break the bank again for another hair session. My friend actually introduced me to Elizabeth - who's in charge for my hair that I loooove. I looked up Elizabeth and she had a Groupon deal which offers Cut & Balayage or Full Highlights for $89. Compared to most salon prices, it's hard to find better than that. Even some other Groupons only offer partial highlights or color touch ups. So I called Elizabeth and she was able to schedule me two days after! I like the concept of this salon because they offer different services and each stylist gets their own room. My experience was very intimate as I was the only one in Elizabeth's room. It has a huge window and natural light shines through it; the overall ambience was just so relaxing. She asked if I had photos and took a good look at them to make sure she understood what I wanted. She did an amazing job cutting and coloring my hair - it was exactly what I was going for. She was very patient and took her time with my hair and I'm extremely happy with it. I can tell she knows what she's doing and respects her client's wishes. Her sweet personality was a plus! I just moved to Houston 6 weeks ago with a serious need for some hair TLC. I was new to the city and had chosen The Woodlands as home base, so I hopped on Yelp and started hunting. Luckily for me, my search led me to Uptown Salons and Isabelle Magro. She made me feel so at home- both in her space and in a new city. She also made me feel beautiful, and coached me on how to keep my blonde hair healthy with a chlorinated pool in my backyard. She fixed my choppy layers and gave me advice on growing out my lowlights the right way. She's a fantastic conversationalist (meaning she doesn't force it but also contributes), plays soothing music, and is very gentle with foils and styling. I've had some rough experiences in the past with waxing, so I'm pretty wary to get my eyebrows done (I used to have an eyebrow piercing that causes one side to grow out slowly- so when they get waxed incorrectly it stays bald for too long ). Today I asked Isabelle if she would wax them, and she did so with perfect symmetry and minimal pain. I'm really happy to have found her- I must have had some good karma coming to me! If I could give this place zero stars I would. I've been a customer here for several years (my stylist, April, is amazing and I would follow her anywhere). However, if you have a service animal make sure to bring your vest, IDs and paperwork because if not, you will be accosted at the door by the front desk lady. She will the stalk you around (even stood outside the restroom) waiting to kick you out. When informed that a service animal does not have to prove their merits of service, she broke out some papers that she printed off of google (real official) and continued to be aggressive, hostile, and unyielding. So, as I sat in tears, during my appointment, leaving my dog in the car (thank God it was a cooler day, with the windows down) she persisted to walk back in forth in front of my stylists window and addressed me as I went in and out to check on my dog. Even making the ignorant remark "Don't you have anywhere else you can leave her besides the car?"... Lady, no, how do you think I got here? Just rude, rude, rude. Not all wounds are visible, and sometimes people can be struggling just to make it though each day. I can honestly say my day was made far worse by this establishment and I hope my stylist moves. I won't be back. As a warning to all of our veterans with a service dog, don't come here. You won't be welcomed. read more

Isabelle Magro at Uptown Salon is fabulous and highly recommend her for color, cut and style. I moved to The Woodlands a year ago and we all know it's hard to find someone you trust to do our hair. I went to one other salon recommended by my realtor for a bit and never let the woman cut my hair and always left frustrated with the service. So started searching and found Isabelle highly recommended so I gave her a try. The first visit I knew she was seasoned and competent she made me feel comfortable enough to cut my hair on the first visit along with color and blow out. Zero starts if I could...I accompanied my friend who in here to get a haircut and was stopped by the rude lady in the front. She is the owner and she made it clear that my friend's service animal was not welcome because she did not spend $50 on a vest for her dog. This woman kept insisting that a vest for the service dog, and even claimed that this was the law...spoiler alert, a vest is NOT required. For a business owner, this woman has no problem alienating an entire veteran population. The stylists are all amazing, but this owner is absolutely rude and entirely ignorant of the law. Avoid this business at all costs. read more

I have been having my hair cut and colored by Dana of Dana Designs (now at Uptown Salons) for many years. Dana is a very talented stylist who is very good at listening to your ideas for your hair and then using her considerable skills to translate those ideas (with her great suggestions) into the perfect look for you! Many times over the years she has helped me change 'my look' without the extreme and drastic (and scary) changes that I have unfortunately experienced with other stylists. I would definitely recommend Dana to anyone interested in looking their very best! read more

This was my first time going here, I went to Michelle to get my haircut. I had very very long hair coming in and knew I would need at least a couple inches cut off. I told her to cut the dead ends and she held up 3-4 inches and said that's what would be cut off, I told her that was fine and she could cut that off. She then just chops it off and says she will even it out/style it after she washes my hair. She washes my hair and I am turned away from the mirror the whole time, once she is nearly finished I look get turned back to the mirror and see she's cut more than double what she had told me she was going to cut. My hair was down to my hips and it is now above my breasts, I am very unhappy with what she did and very disappointed that she just cut all my hair without telling me or showing me what she was doing. I will NOT be returning, at least not to Michelle, I told her what I wanted and it is not what she gave me. read more
