From the makers of urban Vines, welcome Urban Apples. A great setting near Grand Park will surely make this spot flourish. The menu is German food with a wide selection. We had a giant pretzel and sauerkraut balls along with our flights of cider. My favorite was the cranberry and the basic cider. Hubs liked the ciderita and the pineapple. There are several picnic tables on the patio and a large indoor seating area. A second barn appears to be an event space. Food was great! we got all the appetizers- sauerkraut balls were the highlight- I thought better than the Rathskeller. The staff was super friendly. The apple brat was amazing as well. The potato cake was very good and the applesauce was even better. First trip, but wont be the last!!! read more

Delicious ciders. Ordered chicken & waffles and side of applesauce. The applesauce was outstanding- cinnamony and great texture. The chicken, 3 pieces, was moist, well seasoned and breaded perfectly. The waffle was dissapointing, light & fluffy, but nearly tasteless Lacking salt and vanilla flavors. The syrup and whipped cream were nice, but couldn't save the waffle. read more

When you have a band inside, turn off the music playing on the speaker outside. We are sitting outside and hearing a band/the radio at the same time and it is not a good sound. The band sounds great when I go inside, but I can't hear them because I hear the radio on top of it. read more

A nice place to relax & refresh unlike others! A great selection of Ciders and also selected wines, cocktails and beer for those not sure about the cider craze. I've tried the Saucy Cranberry and Ciderita and recommend both. Still not sure, try the cider flight! The non-alcohol traditional apple cider was enjoyed by some in our group as well. Friendly staff, great outdoor space that welcomes dogs and fun menu. The freshly-baked pretzel was huge - great for sharing. Plan to go back and enjoy live music indoors soon. read more

Nice place. Good drinks. Tasty food. Bummed that the music playlist didn't lend itself to relaxing and chilling on an early Saturday. I'm all for 80's rock like Motley Crüe and AC-DC, but hair metal isn't really conducive to midday relaxing... maybe more for a late Saturday party atmosphere. The only thing keeping this from being 1 star is the cider, which is still fantastic. They have also improved the noise dampening over the few months they've been open now, but the food has taken a turn for the terrible. The German menu has been replaced with generic American cafeteria food, where most of the sandwiches and salads look prepackaged. I got the tenderloin and it was nearly inedible from being overcooked in old oil with the only redeeming thing being the chips, which I'm pretty sure were from a bag of kettle chips. I may be back for the ciders but never again for the food unless they make some major changes. read more

We drove over an hour for a special Mother's Day trip to Urban Apples. our experience was horrible! The staff were rude and we were told the kitchen was closed for half an hour unexpectedly. Their ice cream machine was down and the "arcade" consisted of three games. It was such a horrible experience that we ended up having lunch at a fast food place down the street and had better food and service! We will not be back! read more

The Venue is fantastic. Great spaces for all. Had the pretzel and cheese it was good. The servers were pleasant and informative and personable. Great service, they get the 2 stars. The ciders were not good. Tried all eight between the two of us which included the slushy one and they were SUPER sweet, which is not for me. Also three of them had an odd after taste, the peach, pineapple and plain apple. We are hard core cider fans but it was a no for me. Everyone's palate is different tho. read more

My wife and I have been fans of Urban Apples as a fun place to have a hard Cider and just hang out for a while. When they first opened they had some Wonderful German sausages and appetizers. Then they changed the menu. Don't like the menu as much but we kept going. Our visit this week was awful! Their food was not edible. My steak sandwich was so over done it was like shoe leather. And her Pork Tenderloin was actually burned. Not fresh. Just a frozen cutlet deep fried to a non edible puck. The fries were OK . Something has changed at this location. And NOT for the better. Try the Cider but do not order the food. Even the service was poor this time. They use the software that requires you to answer the question about TIP at the counter. Yet they don't even bring it to you. You get a buzzer and you have to pick it up even if they are not busy. Hopefully things improve. If not, we will just look for another hangout. read more

ordered their special cider slushie , ice cream with donut and they were out. same price. then ordered food. no one said over and hour. checked after an hour told next. 5 people later went up and finally it was dropped and they ran without talking. asked why not told and basically brushed from the 1st to 2nd to 1st to 3rd person with sorry nothing we can do. over $150 later and they dont care. Ordered two flights and food at the counter. The guy who took our order was great. However I can't say the same for the lady that delivered the food. She slammed the food trays down on the table without looking at us or speaking to us and walked away. To make matters worse the sauces we ordered were missing and the food was cold. Didn't even feel like they tried to heat it up. We left the food and ended up going elsewhere. It's a beautiful place to grab a cider. It's unfortunate the staff member was rude and the food was completely cold. read more
