I'm glad Urban Barn moved to this more visible location in PoCo. They used to be hidden behind the Home Depot just down the street so not very many people noticed this Canadian home and furniture store. I'm lucky enough to have a brother who asked me to design his new house's living room and entry hallway so I was glad to know the outlet for Urban Barn reopened just down the street in the newish Freemont shopping area in Port Coquitlam. The store is big enough to offer a good selection of contemporary furniture (they also have some Scandi and some MCM, which is more my style) for both homes and condos at reduced prices. As expected from an outlet, some of the furniture were floor models from their other stores so buyer beware; some have nicks and the colour selection is limited (when we were there, most of the furniture on the floor were beige and brown so not a very interesting display.) They also have a good selection of home decor (i.e. throw pillows, blankets) for reasonable prices, great for Christmas presents. Their delivery costs are reasonable at $135 (for up to 5 pieces of furniture) and new furniture come in every Wednesday and new decor every Monday. This store is a much better choice than the giant chain furniture stores and an acceptable alternative to higher end furniture stores. read more

BIG FAN, why, because this location is their outlet location, what does that mean?? It means you may get a piece of furniture you normally wouldn't be able to afford at a great price - the compromise is that it may be dented, scratched or a mismatched piece, but that doesn't mean it's not repairable! The service is outstanding, friendly and keep in mind their inventory changes weekly, so if you see something this week, and don't buy it, it may not be there the following week! read more

This location has beautiful stuff and a great price but they offer no warranty on their furniture and have poor customer service if you need an item delivered. If you are looking for new furniture and don't want to have to wait around for it, I would suggest EQ3, Structube(online), Crate and Barrel or allmodern.com. If the item is in stock online, it would arrive faster than the in town delivery service. It ended up taking me 11 days to get my furniture and would have taken 15 days if I hadn't escalated the issue. I live 20 minutes from the store. My sofa is ripping on the lower back corner and the stores only suggestion was for me to return it, again beware that there is NO warranty on their furniture. read more

I had an absolutely amazing experience here! I was in the market for a new couch or sectional but didn't have a lot of money to spend. I had found a sectional on a competitors website that I would pretty sure I was going to buy. A friend suggested I check this store out because you just never know. Soon as I arrived I discovered that all the sofas were onsale for an extra 15% off their already low prices! Bonus!! The manager Jimmy greeted me and introduced himself right away but he wasn't pushy. I identified what I was looking for and he showed me a couple options that didn't work for me. I fessed up to having my eye on something that was online but that I was nervous because I wasn't going to be able to test it out. He immediately grabbed a measuring tape to help me measure what range of seat height and depth would be most comfortable for me to keep in mind while shopping. He totally went above and beyond to not just inform me about what would work best for me at Urban Barn but what I should look for any where! Which was very helpful as this was the first time I was buying a new couch. Jimmy was very friendly, kind, helpful and offered no pressure unbiased customer support! In the end I decided upon a beautiful brand new couch that was at the outlet location, there was nothing wrong with it, it was on for a very steep discount just because the fabric was discontinued! I had a very tough week, tough month for that matter and my experience at the Urban Barn clearance store was an absolute highlight!
