    Bacon Burger and House Fries
    Jayson H.

Last Friday I went there for lunch. I heard about how good this place is so I went to try it for lunch. I ordered the bacon burger add pickles and mayo with fries and a cup of cheese from the gas station next door. I enjoyed the food it tasted really good and it's another favorite burger of mine. It's now my favorite restaurant in Hinsdale. I recommend it if you're in the area!

Out and about town and came across this establishment. Was a little skeptical because its literally attached to a gas station. Grabbed a breakfast burrito sans the potatoes & jalapeños. Burrito was decent for the price. Wanted a hot tea to go along with the burrito, but they pointed me to the gas station mart. That was a little weird so I settled for OJ. While we were there we seen what looked too be one of the best burgers I have ever seen. Burger was literally huge, and served with great looking onion rings. When I town again, I will return to Urban Counter to try the burger.

"For people on the go" - Urban Counter I guess my first mistake was I didn't get it to go and set down to eat my food. So not worth driving out the way to come here. the only way I would ever come back is I moved within a 5 min driving distance and had to walk inside to pay for gas. I don't want to downplay it like it's a gas station with an a McDonald/Burger King attached to it. I walked in at the start of employee team meeting. I ended up having to turn on music to drown them out. Although I only got water. thought it was annoying I had to walk out of the restaurant down the small hall into the regular gas station and across the large gas station floor to get water/pop.(but at this point I'm probably just nick picking as I just didn't enjoy the food) Blue Cheese Burger- I think if I had gotten the Bacon Burger this review might be complete different but I ended up going with their "signature" blue cheese burger. Things to note I threw half the sandwich in the garbage before walking out. YEP! As visual good as the burger looked. It just reminded me of that one family member that buy some really cheap patties that come in a box 50. this was quantity over quality at its best. I'm sure a rep would defend this but these are the only kind of burgers I throw away. The only redeeming quality is that it was cooked exactly how I asked for it. (Medium) Mozzarella Cheese Sticks - Frozen from a bag Onion Rings - Frozen from a bag I'm sure we all have had frozen from a bag food that we love but this wasn't it for me. I ended up driving down the block to Whole Food and picking up a smooth and kicking myself for not just going there in the first place and grabbing something from the Hot Bar.

My expectations for Urban Counter were modest. I hoped for a decent lunch in a clean setting for a reasonable price. What I got was a very good lunch in a surprisingly stylish spot for a good price. I came in to Urban Counter through its separate entrace from the BP station to the right. On entering, I was really surprised at how nice it was inside. They've got a monochromatic color scheme which works very well and lends it a contemporary feel. The quality of the decor seemed about on Chipotle-level if not a little bit nicer. I ordered my bacon cheeseburger (medium) and fries at the counter, and walked through a 20 foot hallway to fill my cup at the fountain drink dispenser in the gas station. That was a little odd, but I suppose it makes sense to not duplicate functions between the two locations. When they brought my meal to the table (about 5 minutes later), I was really pleased with the quality of the burger. It was cooked as requested, maybe even leaning towards medium-rare. That's really unusual at a place like this - they usually err on a level or two overcooked. The bacon was super thick and tasty, and the onion ring which served as a textural element on the top bun was filled with a tasty, though not too spicy, roasted jalapeno salsa. Overall, the burger was excellent. The hand-cut fries were a little less successful. They had good color, and were twice fried as all good fries should be, but the end result was not as crispy as I prefer. Perhaps if they were cut a little more thin they would have worked better. They were well seasoned though. I did some price comparisons with my five guys, who set a good benchmark for the fast casual burger spot. My meal at Five Guys would have cost about $2 more, and I'm certain the burger ingredients were better at Urban Counter (especially the bacon). Five Guys fries are definitely better. I can unquestionably recommend this spot for lunch. If this were a standalone restaurant in downtown Hinsdale, it would be easily the best option of its type (vs. Dips n Dawgs and Doggie Diner). But as they say - location location location.

Surprisingly nice interior to this place.

Food is fine but Jesus Christ, I would of never guessed it would take 20min to make 1 bacon sandwich.

Their turkey burger was fantastic; not dry and very flavorful. The tater tots were hot and fresh. Really no complaints about this place.

Another great dinner at Foxtail!…read more We had to come back to try more of the menu, and this time we ordered: * Pork belly bruschetta: 5/10. Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. The pork belly, ciabatta, and balsamic were all good individually, but together the flavors just didn't work. It felt mismatched... * Colorado lamb kebab: 10/10. This is one of the more $$ entrées on the menu, but it's absolutely worth it. The portion was generous, the lamb was high quality, and the artichoke pesto paired really well with the rich, gamey flavor. The roasted pearl onions were a great addition too. I would definitely recommend this dish. * Foxtail paella: 8/10 flavorful orzo paella loaded with seafood. Definitely a sharing type of entree! Always a great time at Foxtail with great food and great service!

I reserved a seat at the bar. I was seated and immediately greeted by my server. I decided to start with the happy hour manhattan- it was delicious. They use apple brandy, I was somewhat skeptical initially- buy my server/bartender assured me that it would be good. I then tried the fois gras mousse with the seasonal compote- blueberry. It was an absolutely fantastic choice. The mousse was so incredibly creamy and the compote was a perfect compliment. The restaurant itself is charming- what I would expect a small French brassiere to look like. Looking forward to my next visit!

Service was great but I was puzzled that they changed utensils after each course but failed to scrape away the breadcrumbs on the tablecloth. Standouts were the main dishes: the halibut worked super well with the grapes in the sauce (what an unexpected surprise!) and trout amandine was very good as well (wished the skin was crispier though). For two girls, we ordered 2 apps, 1 salad, 2 entrees and shared a dessert and it was just right. We didn't feel like the meal was overly heavy or over salted, which is such a nice departure from our experiences of late. One piece of feedback is to perhaps warm the seasonal apple tart. It was very good but also very cold! We will be back!

This spot is marketed as a "neighborhood steakhouse" ended up feeling more like "modern american faire" to me. The menu offers a variety of meat cuts, seafood, salads, handheld items, elevated apps and more. The inside feels like a sophisticated bistro with a cozy atmosphere. For drinks, we started with the Bee's Knees & Smoked Apple Butter Old Fashioned. The Bee's Knees was perfectly balanced and flavors played well off each other. The Smoked Apple Butter Old Fashioned utilizes one of his "jam session" products which was fun. The flavor was a bit more spiced than I was expecting and could have used a bit more of a spirit punch. For appetizers, we started with the Toasted Ravioli and Crab Cakes. The portions were smaller but the flavors were fresh. Hearing Chef Paul Virant is from St. Louis, connected some of the fun options like Toasted Ravioli. The insides had the perfect meat to cheese ratio and the red sauce was nice. The Crab Cakes tastes fresh and I loved the sauce on top with it. After apps, we decided to share the Vistro Burger. This burger is rated the best burger in the Western Suburbs and I now understand why. Burger, Caramelized Onions, Bacon, Pimento Cheese, and a soft bun is put together and burst with flavor. The burger was a bit messy but just made me want to enjoy it more. Our server was nice to split the entree into two portions for us. For dessert, we ordered the St Louis Gooey Butter Cake which was phenomenal! We also got the Mexican Chocolate drink to share which was the perfect nightcap. We were also celebrating a special event so complimentary champagne & a blondie dessert were given to us. Overall, there are some great pieces to Vistro Prime. The burger has a reputation for a reason and is well worth a trip to try. Some appetizer & drink portions were a bit small for the price point but flavors were good. Our service was good but not amazing sadly for having dined at an earlier time. Either way, I'm so happy I was able to experience another one of Chef Paul Virant's amazing spots!
