Been going here since I was a kid and till this day it's the best diner I've ever been too. Their breakfast is incredible and typically get an omelette or a skillet. They cook the hashbrowns to your liking and their biscuits and gravy with homemade biscuits is the best I've ever had. Even better than the south. Everytime I go to another breakfast joint I get biscuits and gravy and they never match Pages. For lunch it's always the turkey BLT with fries. It is a masterpiece of a sandwich. The service is always great the people are kind, they remember who you are, and will mess with you a little like you're family. We arrived at the restaurant and we're waiting for the rest of our group. We were seated I. The only table for 6. A couple of minutes later 3 people walk in and Sit at the counter. They keep staring at s like we were aliens. Next thing, this guy is taking our coffee tea and moving us to a table for4 telling us out party wasn't here and they need the table for 8. Our party of 6 was already there, and there are 3 people sitting where we were sitting. We went to egg harbor much better. My boyfriend and I came to Hinsdale on a Monday to go to the farmer's market. Unfortunately, a storm was coming in, and the market started to close early... we had not had lunch, and it started to rain, and this was literally the first restaurant we saw other than Corner Bakery, and I would rather support a small local place. We had no idea what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised! The food was very good, really cute little diner vibe and attentive staff. There were 2 ladies and a guy working, and they all just team helped the tables, no waiting for your server. Just ask whoever you saw, and they would help you. To note, the place is super small, and the only seating they have is either booth or up to a counter, with bolted in bar stools. My guy is a big and tall guy, and we were a little nervous, but sitting up to the counter worked fine. read more

I love this place. It's got everything you expect in a diner, clean, great food, great waitstaff and jam packed with local residents who've been going there for years. I'm on my seventh visit, with four of them just recent. I'm sampling the menu and every different meal has been a hit. Today, I had the skirt steak, cooked to a perfect medium rare. Eggs poached with firm whites and runny, gooey yellow. Home made hash browns, no frozen bag involved, fresh and cooked crisp on the outside and creamy in the inside. I doubt if I'll eat at any other diner when I'm at home (I gravitate toward local diners when I'm on the road). Directly across from the downtown Hinsdale train station, parking can sometimes be tough, but it's worth every minute you spend finding parking, and waiting in line (turnover is quick so you won't wait long). The only reason i can imagine for any good reviews about this place: folks are so well-known that they command polite service or they do not care if a restaurant's waitstaff is rude. After about a half dozen visits over the past two years where my father and i get together in Hinsdale for breakfast, we can honestly say yesterday's was the last ever. Unfortunately, i picture the sour old ladies and their Americanized (by which i mean, discourteous) busboy cheering to learn we will not return. I mean, based on the overall way we're treated, it seems apparent they do not like us. Which is odd, as (although we are definitely particular about details) my father is a notorious over-tipper and we have both been very kind to the Page's team. They should be so lucky as to be able to lose good customers, such as ourselves. Every single time we go, the visit begins with their overbearing attitude about where we are allowed to sit. Understand that they do not seat you (saying, instead, "sit anywhere"), but then go into a conniption fit if you should need extra table space to work on something and -- God forbid! -- choose a table they deem too big for the size of your party. Each visit also includes at least one significant error. Yesterday's was the omission of fruit from my order even though she literally asked if i wanted hash browns or fruit. Sadly, i was so discombobulated by the other issues that i forgot until i was at home that they had cheated me out of food for which we paid. On every single visit in recent memory they have forgotten an item. Sometimes we get the item after reminding them to bring it and sometimes not. (The visit before this, they forgot to bring my juice, but STILL TRIED TO CHARGE US FOR IT.) Honestly, the snobby attitude about seating (and their consistent lack of common decency in customer service) would be enough to make this a never-again destination. But the straw that broke the camel's back today was when my father was in the restroom and they were clearing his spot of dirty dishes. The mean, gray-haired lady used my dad's dirty napkin to pick up the jelly packets he did not use and proceeded to PUT THEM BACK IN THE JELLY STOCK TO USE FOR A FUTURE CUSTOMER. What the heck?! Then the busboy came along and did the EXACT SAME THING. I don't know which was worse: old angry lady picking them up with my father's dirty napkin or the busboy using his dirty, ungloved hands to do it in the midst of clearing germ-laden dishes & silverware. Absolutely disgusting. Aside from the insufferable holier-than-thou vibe, the above, highly unsanitary practice of passing on microbes from one customer to any of their following customers who believe they are getting clean, previously untouched condiment packets is a bridge too far. (For those who don't know, Illinois health code requires that all previously handled items, whether open or not, be discarded immediately after the customer's table is bussed. THEY SHOULD NEVER BE REUSED.) SEATING: Not well designed, staff is haughtily territorial FOOD: Interesting recipes, many are prepared at amateur to substandard level SERVICE: rude, arrogant, forgetful SANITATION: "Quick, call the Health Department!" P.S. In the hot summer months, the place is sweltering so they keep the front and back door open. They will lie and say the AC is broken and "currently being fixed". Don't believe them.
