I took a short weekend trip to Page and we only had time for one meal. While Page isn't a huge…read moretown, a couple of spots were in contention. We decided on Gone West Family Restaurant based on their solid reviews and we thought that American food (especially with a Western theme) would be the way to go. When in Rome! We stopped by on a Saturday evening for dinner. Parking is easy in the complimentary lot they share with several other businesses including a Chinese restaurant right next door. Ambiance (4.5/5): Pretty much what I was hoping for. Gone West is a spacious restaurant with one large dining room and another large dining room. The difference? The one in the back has a stage where they play live music. So, if you want a quieter atmosphere, choose the first room. If you want to enjoy some live music while you dine and drink, choose the back room. We sat in the back room. A band played various covers while we were there which we enjoyed. The decor is also awesome with a lot of Western and country decor including John Wayne, Johnny Cash, and more. Service (4/5): The hostess was super nice and accommodating which was a nice way to kick off the experience. Our waiter was pretty solid. He could have stopped by a little more frequently, but overall, did quite well. Drinks (4/5): I went with an Arnold Palmer (they only had pink lemonade unfortunately) so not a lot to right home about. With that being said, they have a decent beer list and several cocktails. Food (5/5): I went with the Chicken fried steak sandwich with spiral fries. CFS on a sandwich?! I couldn't say no. Country fried steak is one of my favorite Southern dishes, but I've never had it on a sandwich before. Check out their concept: breaded steak on a bed of mashed potatoes topped with green onions, gravy, and a fried egg with your choice of side. This was a great sammie! It was quite messy, but given how delicious it was, I didn't mind. The fries were delicious too, and it was a generous portion. The type of portion where you can easily have leftovers. Everything I was hoping for and more in this dining experience. While the food options in Page aren't vast (and as impressive as larger cities), Gone West should be at the top of your list!

Nothing that really stood out. The wood fired pizza was undercooked. My husband had the buffet and said the line rib and wings were good but the rest, eh... Service was ok, though not especially memorable. We had a coupon we forgot to give the server before she rang it up and she wouldn't re-ring the sale and give us the discount. Disappointing. Would I stop again? For the scenery, probably. It's worth grabbing a table just to soak in those incredible lake views. Sometimes the view is the star of the meal, and today it definitely stole the show.

We shared calamari and we are calamari snobs. I wasn't expecting anything great but it really, really was. The crunchy (fresh?) batter was cooked perfectly crispy and the squid meat was not tough. They served it on top of sliced pepperocini, which we kept using throughout the meal. The sauce was delicious too. Now any chef/cook can have an off day, but if the oil is the right temp and they stick to a prescribed fry time, you should experience the same great result. My husband had the Reuben, and he is a Reuben snob. The thickly julienned corned beef made for a little bit of messy eating, but he said it was good. His sweet potato waffle fries were crisp and not too sweet. They stayed crisp throughout the meal. I believe these were frozen but they chose a great product to offer for one of their sides. No shame in a good, coated, crisp, frozen sweet potato waffle fry. I had the desert dipper (French dip to many of us.) It was topped with sauteed mushrooms and onions and the aus jus was really delicious. Not too salty and with a rich flavor without being oily. Again, a product which I would be shocked it if wasn't purchased, but they made a great choice! It doesn't rely on salt, which many chefs turn to to cover less-than-stellar food. My side was a side salad. Mixed mesclun lettuces (with the occasional wilted, icky looking leafs) that made either this batch of lettuce one day past it's prime or needed to be gone through a little closer. The salad was topped with a generous portion of very fresh cucumbers, carrot shreds, cherry tomatoes, cheese and croutons. I was pleased with the overall quality and presentation of that simple side salad. In our previous trip my husband had the quite-curated turkey sandwich and he said it was very good. I just had the truffle Parmesan fries which, like the waffle fries, were crispy and very good

We arrived about 6 and waited about 20 minutes for a very nice booth. We split a pretty good-sized house salad. It was fine. I had the trout with asparagus and sweet potato fries. Fish (lemon pepper and salt) was tasty and perfectly prepared. Asparagus was also perfectly cooked, still a bit of crunch. The fries were too limp but tasted good. My hubs ordered the ribeye. Looked so juicy and charred but was a bit tough. Flavor was great and it was a gigantic 16-oz. portion. Coffee was tasteless, unfortunately. The absolute highlight of the meal was the pie! The apple pie is the best I have ever eaten. The filling contained nice slices of apples, no mushy stuff here. And the crust was incredibly flaky with a bit of sugar baked on top. My husband ordered the cherry pie à la mode and was quite pleased with the pie and two little scoops of ice cream alongside. Nice staff too! This place is popular for a reason. It HAS to be that incredible pie.

I was pretty excited, paid ~ $22 for this meal (added extra tofu). However, this place was nothing but disappointment for the price and quality. The food tasted fine - but it was extremely greasy (understand it is fried rice, but still). It had less veggies and there were like two basil leaves - basically not what one would expect. Well, now comes the packaging, for this premium price why would you not pack it in a compostable box, but a styrofoam box with foil paper in it. I was not happy with the wastage created - also a compostable box would have absorbed some oil which would have helped me and this review. Unfortunately, I would only probably not recommend this place much, coz it's not worth the money and did not seem as a healthy or wholesome option for vegetarians. They took my order on my phone and quickly got it ready, that part was great. Thanks for saving me some time. The restaurant looked just okay, nothing fancy. Otherwise, this restaurant is conveniently located in the downtown / restaurant / shopping area. Plenty of parking spots and pretty close to Horseshoe bend (one of my favorites from the trip :))

TOURISTS BEWARE.... This place is a restaurant SCAMMMMMM!!!!…read more I only post review if they really deserve it.. good and bad.. Their food sucks so bad we didn't even eat half of it. Then the service sucks.. so you know you are not going to give them tip. But then you will see on your receipt, 18% Gratuity added automatically. I asked the waiter and she said that for 4 or more party, 15% for 1-4 party and or if you order the BBQ combo.. WTF?? Isn't this a BBQ place?? And don't force us to tip specially if the food and service is Bad. There were three customers complaining bout the gratuity. The menu is expensive.. specially the beef combo. You get two short ribs, a slap of bulgogi and shredded beef.. it all tasted the same... horrible.. like eating softened beef jerky. Except for the short ribs. They marinated it with kalbi sauce.. and the water was really cold. That was the only good thing.. Stay away from this place.. better eat somewhere else.. Don't be like me and other customers. Trust the review from other website.. I didn't get to take a Photo of the grill.. we left most of the meat there just so they can't re-use or re-serve it to other customers. This place sucks.. trust the reviews of real customers not of those paid reviewers.
