Taken my dog here before, but pick our dog up from here after a two night stay and he came home with loose stools and his nose was pretty raw like he had been in a fight or something. No one told us there was an incident. Place smelled terrible and not very clean as it had been about 6 months ago. Kind of disappointed in the slide of care for this place. read more

Will not be taking my dog back! $300 VET BILL AFTER LEAVING OUR BABY HERE! We were in need of a last minute place to board our baby girl for the weekend. The reviews were mixed for this place so I figured we would give it a try and see how things went. First impression was not great, the building is dark and hot and stinks. It smelled like dirty animals mixed with bleach, like they attempted to "clean" but clearly failed. The owner had Great Danes and other dogs hanging around the front desk barking while I tried to check my dog in. They asked for weight because they charge more for larger dogs. We had just weighed her the day before and she was 45 lbs. ($18 a night in a medium size kennel), not even 5 minutes after dropping her off the owner sends me a text message saying she weighs 70lbs (Yeah the F right..!!!) so they would be charging extra (for the same size kennel, and we provided her food.. soo why the extra change I have no idea.) I said it was fine, It is what it is. (The vet weighed her after this 4 1/2 day stay and she was 33lbs!!!!!) Upon drop off, I had specifically told the woman NOT to let my dog interact with other animals. For one, I did not want her to catch anything and two, I know she can be a bit mean with other dogs. However upon pickup the male made the comment to me "she didn't play well with the other animals..." are you serious...? How would you know if I told you NOT to let her... My poor baby stunk horribly when I picked her up, she was thirsty and had abnormal poop. We gave her a bath right away but noticed several sores and a rash all over her. I dropped her off Thursday evening and picked her up Monday afternoon, today is Tuesday, she has been itching like crazy and I have to take her to the vet. (She was infested with flees and ticks and had sores and infected bites all over her!) If you love you dog do not leave them here!! read more

The facility is very small with somewhat crammed kennels. There are 3 tiers of kennel sizes and they all look clean and neat. Prices are pretty decent. The staff is very friendly and caring. I've brought my jack russell and chihuahua for daycare a couple of times and they hangout in the indoor play area. I plan on boarding my dogs here when I go on vacation. Overall I would recommend this place for anyone needing boarding while in Yuma. read more

Just yesterday 7/27/19 we dropped our medical dog here under owner care went to Mexico for dental emergency, on our return we received a call from him stating he put our Emma out to potty alone went back in leaving her in an insecure area and she got out. We personally believe he took her and is keeping her. If she truly ran of after 18 solid hour looking calling for her everywhere still no dog when I informed him of our call to animal control suddenly he was out looking for her for 20 minutes, I returned to the office to see if he found anything he was sitting doing nothing I heard a bark in back asked if I could look he refused she has a bark completely like no other dog I kid u not she was there. If you Love your pet I would stay away! Dirty, Dark and Dingy in the Kennels. No water for my two doggies while spending the afternoon. Don't think they ever got outside to potty as they were dying to go the minute we picked them up. Brought our dogs through the back following the employee and the Great Danes in the entrance jumped up and tried to bite my doggie I was carrying. Stinks in there, owner at front desk is rude. I have 3 miniature Dachshunds. I have never boarded my "babies" before. Always had a friend come and dog sit. Two were older and one of them was blind. Victoria and Danny took such good care of them. My third dog has issues with other dogs and she came home and told me she really likes Great Danes, they make good friends. Go figure. Try it for yourself. This was the first time we've boarded our dog since we moved to Yuma in January. I looked up boarding facilities and found a few online but unfortunately, most of them had pictures/reviews of their grooming services but not much about boarding. Urban K 9 had the best representation of their boarding facility online and they were very nice and informative when I called. When we first drove up to drop off our Jack Russell on Monday, we were a little hesitant due to the appearance of the outside of the building but after walking inside we felt better. The staff was very friendly and the dogs we could see from the lobby looked well taken care of and their spaces looked clean. We were still a little nervous because even though our dog is 10 years old, this is only the second time we've ever boarded him. He's dog aggressive so we've always been afraid it would be a problem but they assured us he would be taken out by himself and wouldn't come in contact with other dogs. Today when we picked him up he was clean and seems to have been well cared for with no apparent signs of distress. His blanket and pillow were in good condition as well. It didn't take him long to settle in back at home, he was a little shaky on the way but in no time he was relaxed and happy! We will definitely feel comfortable leaving him at Urban K 9 the next time we go out of town. (4 stars instead of 5 because it was just our first time impression) read more

This place is the best! The owner Victoria is an absolute animal lover and you can tell. I have been bringing my boxer here for over a year for day care and he loves playing indoors, outdoors and with all of their fun toys. He is wiped out and sleeps like a baby when we get him back. Urban K9 is great about understanding what dogs can or can not play together and makes sure that your pet will be safe while at their facility. I have never boarded our dog here, but would not hesitate to do so. I can't say enough great things about Urban K9 and the owners, Victoria and Danny. read more

This place is a life saver. They have helped me so many times I cant count. They are flexible whenever I have needed a late pick up or early drop off. The facilities have different sized kennels to accommodate smaller pets and a 'play area' for more social animals. I have Great Danes and they are the only place that I know of that has the staff mentality or facilities to deal with large dogs. They have a secure running area for outside time and it is large enough to satisfy my beasts. They know my dogs and their personalities and they adjust their practice to personalize the service for their individual needs. The recognize me by my dog's names because that is who the service is for :) My dogs LOVE going here. They love the staff. They love the other danes that they get to play and socialize with. I have used them over 20 different times and will continue to do so in the future. read more

Out of desperation we dropped out dog off here. We usually use another place but they were closed. The had our dog from 18 Aug - 25 Aug. We always research reviews on everything. Well, the reviews on their web page were obviously either self written or written by friends or family. First of all, the place is disgusting and stinks to high heaven. But, most kennels have an odor. When we picked up out dog Gizzy, she stunk so bad of urine and feces. Thankfully I had brought a long an old sheet to put on the back seat. We had to roll down the windows just to drive home. My wife was literally gagging and holding her head out the window. No exaggeration. I actually gave her my coffee cup to throw up in. Now I'm not one of those people who treat their dog like a human. I dog is a dog is an animal. With that said, it makes me sick to think of what she went through being there. When we got home we threw away her blanket, bed, collar and that sheet and gave her 3 baths to get the smell off of her before she was allowed in the house. Also, she was supposed to be given her meds, which we are sure they didn't do. Now, how does a dog urinate on its own head? Well they have about 6 or 7 great danes walking around constantly so obviously, one or more males were urinating on our small dog. Yesterday I had to take her to the Ironwood Vet because she has developed some kind of cough or lung issue. THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING AND SHOULDN'T BE IN OPERATION. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THIS URBAN K9 PLACE. I immediately added my review on their website, no surprise, its not there. Only a bunch of excellent ones. I'm telling everyone I come in contact with about this place, including the vet and everyone in the office. You have been warned. read more

Horrible dog grooming. I came across this place because of the reviews I read, clearly they don't mean anything. If they ask how much you want cut off and u say half an inch then it means the will buzz it down to almost skin. They don't even deserve one star. read more

Wish I would have read all the reviews first. I was referred to them by my vet so figured they were a clean safe place. Can't say I was impressed when we went to drop them off, but the lady seemed like she really cared for animals and that was most important to me. When we picked them up their beds had all been washed and I noticed my dogs had been given a bath. We didn't pay for that so I did wonder, but I was recovering from major surgery so didn't really think about it. As I am slowly getting more active and can do some things on my own now, I noticed something above one of my dogs eyes. Pulled it off and it was a bug, thought that was weird. Then I saw another one and this one had it head inside my dogs skin so I knew it was a tick. I didn't realize the first one was because in all my years of having dogs and cats I have never once had any of them get ticks. So I searched him and found 5 more. My heart is just broken. This poor dog has had ticks for 2 weeks and because I was bed ridden I could not tend to them properly. I called my Mom as we boarded her dog with mine and she found a good dozen on her dog. There is absolutely no way these dogs could have gotten them anywhere else as the only time they were together was the 4 days they were at Urban K9. My other dog is black so I can't see if he has anything, however he was laying on the couch next to me and one jumped on me. So 3 dogs, 2 who live together are infested with ticks. I called Urban K9 today and asked why all the dogs were given a bath and was told one of them most likely pooped in the stall. I know that didn't happen. All 3 dogs will hold it forever, the black one can hold it for days as he will only potty outside off a leash. I was just shocked that they had no empathy. I was in no way blaming them, although it is beyond obvious, but I now have to fumigate my house, my yard and pay to have my dogs bathed and get them medication at least for a few months to ensure these ticks do not come back. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The very least they could have done was have some empathy. read more

New to the Yuma area and needed a kennel for a Friday to Monday trip. The employees were nice and welcoming but the facility is small in my opinion. I may look at other options for boarding in the future. Not sure how long the owners have been in business but I would hope they look into a larger facility because they seemed busy. read more

I was very grateful to find a decent place to look after my little dog while I had dental work done in Algodones. I was surprised to see the negative reviews as my experience was wonderful ~ from the first phone call it was obvious these folks LOVE dogs and I had complete confidence & peace of mind leaving her with them. While not "white glove" clean, bearing in mind that this was a kennel and not a vet's office, it was certainly acceptable. I have paid a LOT of money for doggie day care in other cities where they basically just kept Tinkerbelle in a tiny cage for the day, but given unforeseen circumstances it couldn't be helped. However, here she had plenty of room and the opportunity to play with other dogs. Will use this facility next time we are in the area and need to be gone for the day. PS: I felt so bad when I inadvertently kicked the desert tortoise sunning himself in the lobby by the front door, so watch out for him :-) read more

they are soooooo awesome! we left our furry baby here for almost 3 weeks while we were on vacation and they took such good care of her! finding this place was a little hard since it's in the industrial area near kennedy pool, but it's probably me since i could never find anything! lol. found this place from the yellow pages and they have a website which was a ton of help! on their website, there are pictures of the kennels or suites and condos as they like to call it...prices of boarding and grooming! dropped off our little girl and she was greeted by other furry friends! they keep the dogs on the same feeding schedule like home as you would feed them, take them outside for bathroom breaks and play time. this facility is also air conditioned so it was perfect since summer was creeping up on us. they offer discounts for a certain amount of days, the longer the stay, the bigger the discount! our dog was also groomed so when we picked her up, she was all ready and it was one less thing to worry about besides unpacking from our vacation. i would definitely recommend them from boarding and grooming! read more

I spoke to a gentleman who did not identify himself by name. I asked if I could book a reservation to board my GSP for Thursday, 1/9/2017 and inquired about a late check out for around 8 pm that evening. He responded by saying, "We don't normally do that", even though the website clearly states that that they do, but it would result in an overnight charge, which I was fine with. This individual insulted me even further by asking me specifically why I would be picking my dog up so late and then said, "it's not like you're going to pick them up around 10 because that would be a problem"! I was floored; clearly, it's none of this person's business why I would be boarding my dog so long as I met my obligation as a customer by paying for the services that I received. It's obvious that this individual needs to learn how to communicate with the clientele without being so offensive. I have boarded my animals several times before and this was by far the worst treatment I have ever received from anyone, ever! If this is how they relate to people, I can only imagine how they treat the animals when the owners are not around. read more
