Real Chics was a great spot for Sunday brunch! The food came out fast and everything was really good. We ordered the mimosas, and I loved that they bring you a whole bottle of prosecco along with the juice of your choice so you can make them yourself. Very Disappointing Experience!! I honestly don't know where to start. We had made a reservation for 12 people over two months in advance, and the restaurant confirmed it again on the day of our visit. We arrived on time at 6:30 PM expecting to enjoy a nice evening together. Instead, we were told our seating wasn't ready. They had a private room with seating for only eight, despite knowing we had a party of 12. As more of our guests arrived, we repeatedly asked about additional chairs and were told they didn't have any available. We were even offered the patio as an alternative, despite the weather being extremely hot and humid. After approximately 45 minutes of trying to get enough chairs, we finally got everyone seated. Our server began taking our orders around 7:10 p.m., only to tell us they were already out of several of the entrées on the menu -- including the chicken, pork chops, and seafood pasta. Unfortunately, many of us had planned to order those dishes. And seriously you've only been open since 5pm serving your dinner menu. We adjusted our orders and patiently waited. Then we waited some more. An hour passed with no food, no appetizers, no manager checking on our table, and no apology. Eventually, our server came by to ask about drink refills and told us our food was on the way. About 10 minutes later, he returned and told us they were now out of salmon, which was another major portion of our group's orders. At that point, we had to change our orders yet again. We waited another 15 minutes and still had not received a single thing to eat. After being gaslit for approximately 2 hours in the restaurant, our entire group ultimately decided to leave. What made this experience even more disappointing was the repeated response that they were "busy." Being busy is understandable, but accepting and confirming a reservation for 12 people means you should be prepared to accommodate a party of 12. We were not asking for special treatment -- we simply expected the reservation we made and confirmed to be honored. We really wanted to support a local Black-owned restaurant and experience the cuisine that so many people have spoken highly about. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing. We left feeling ignored, frustrated, and completely disrespected as paying customers. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because there were multiple opportunities throughout the evening to communicate with us, acknowledge the situation, or simply apologize. Instead, we spent 2 hours waiting (lied to) and left without receiving a single item of food. Unfortunately, this was not the dining experience we expected, and we will not be returning. read more

I was lucky to find parking across the street, but if you are taking the bus, it's super convenient. I will say that I was excited to try this restaurant, however, this was the worst dining experience I have ever had in my entire life. My group had a full reservation for two groups, one for 8 people and the second for 4 people. Both at the same time, and what we were guided to do by the person we spoke with. Earlier in the week, one of the ladies from our group called to confirm reservations were set, and to see if they could place our groups together. The lady assisting on the phone said that if we didn't want to sit near the live music, this would not be a problem at all. This was on Monday....Now comes Saturday the day of our reservation, and not only did the hostess look completely confused at us checking in, but she had no idea where she was going to seat us. My friend and I repeated our names for our reservation, and that we had confirmed multiple times through the week. She responded yes, our names were on the list, but again they were very busy and to give her a minute. This immediately was a red flag, in what world would it be okay to tell someone with a confirmed reservation that you need to figure out their seating because they got busy with a crowd? The hostess offered us patio seating, but it was so humid and rain was creeping in. Also to note, we did not reserve the patio to begin with. The hostess finally placed us in the "private dining" area where our table for the 8 top we requested was set up. This area was small, but the massive table in the room allowed for at least 4 more chairs, and we would not have needed another table at all. When I mentioned this to the hostess, the hostess snapped, "we don't have any extra chairs". Two members of our party didn't come, so we didn't need the extra seating, but the attitude we received was ridiculous. Next comes the dinner service - or lack there of. With a 6:30 pm reservation, we finally were seated around 6.45 and got our server, Mason. Mason was gone so quickly I didn't even get to see what he looked like. We didn't see Mason again until about 7:15 pm. Before we can even place orders, we are told there is no more chicken - of any kind, no seafood pasta as they ran out of cream for the sauce, and no pork chops. Fine, so we all make do, and place our food orders; we also order drinks as we had not had anything offered to us but water at this point. At 7:45, still not even drinks brought to our table, one member of our party had to find someone to get things moving. We finally are delivered our drinks. At this point, its been well over an hour and nothing delivered but water and drinks. At 8:25pm, over an hour after placing our orders, our server comes in and says that there was a miscount on the salmon, and that our orders would be subbed with red snapper. But not to worry as there wouldn't be an upcharge. This was beyond infuriating! For 1., the Salmon dish was over 30.00 and the snapper was 21, so why would an upcharge even be mentioned, and 2. why would there be an upcharge when it was the error of the chef and not us intentionally subbing our dish with that replacement? Mason leaves out again after we say fine and to please bring us the orders. We also asked if they had bread, to which he replied yes for the pasta....but he brings some and its so hard its not even edible. Finally, at 8:55 we had had enough. NO FOOD EVER CAME!!! We all got up, collected our belongings and prepared to leave. On the way out, we asked for a manager and the ticket for the drinks we had received, which was only 4 drinks, and paid the tab. The alleged co-owner, Ron, appeard irritated we were leaving and said he was preparing complimentary shots for us but I didn't see anything in front of him. Mason was also very irritated that we had gotten up to leave. For over two hours, no one checked on our group, offered apologies for the delay, nothing at all from anyone. I know the owner is Justin Clark so I am not sure who Ron is, but I pray that he sees this. If Ron is a true "co-owner", Justin needs to not ever leave him in charge cause this was the most horrendous experience ever. read more

We(four people)had the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer- delicious(golden raisins added the perfect amount of sweetness).; shrimp and grits, seafood imperial and catfish were wonderfully presented, amazingly prepared and just simply delicious. My wife and I came in here on a Friday at 6:30. We had reservations, but didn't really need them, as the restaurant wasn't very busy yet. More people started coming in after we had ordered, but it would have been easy to have secured a table just walking in. The bar is very nice with one TV and the ambience of the place is upscale. We were promptly greeted by our server who took our drink orders. I got a Blackberry Bramble with bourbon. I really liked it. It had just the right amount of sweetness that perfectly combined with the bourbon to make a good sipping cocktail. We ended up ordering the Farmer's Veg (vegetarian) for an appetizer. I assume the vegetable in this dish is seasonal, but I'm unsure. It ended up being roasted cauliflower with labneh and it was good. For my entree, I chose the Kung Pao Cauliflower (vegan). It's served with kale salad, spicy Thai chili and cashews. It was delicious and it had a good kick to it. My wife got the salmon with sides of green beans and macaroni and cheese. The sides were also good and she enjoyed her salmon. We didn't anticipate the size of the Mac and cheese, and we ended up taking the leftovers with us. For dessert, we had ordered the bread pudding but our sever accidentally put in for the blondie. We went ahead and just went with it and it was good. Other than working out some minor kinks like the incorrect dessert order and our plates being taken (and then replaced before we used them), this place is fantastic! I'll definitely come back to dine here again and it is a great spot for date night or a special occasion. I was recently introduced to Urban Cafe' and the review was impressive. I knew I needed to make my way there sooner than later. Upon my arrival I was smitten by the upscale appearance of the restaurant. It looked quite nice from the outside and as I stepped in I loved its decor. Parking was a bit challenging at first as it sits on the corner of a very busy area and the parking lot which is quite small was full. As I backed up to park on the street a spot opened up directly in front of the restaurant (Thank YOU, LORD!). I was warmly greeted by the host and as I made my way to the area with my party, I caught the eye of one of the chefs and he greeted me with a welcoming smile. Alrighty then, he had me at hello! The private room was also beautifully decorated and quaint and expressed just the right intimacy for a wonderful brunch. I was there for a small birthday celebration and the staff treated us like royalty. They even stored the birthday cake in their refrigerator while we dined and celebrated (how's that for hospitality and hometown flair)?! Our server was professional, knowledgeable of the menu, accommodating and offered suggestions. The food as well as the ambiance was on point! The menu had quite a variety of dishes and many were out of the box including sticky duck wings, oxtail bahn mi, brown butter pancakes, lox, seafood benedict, crab omelette etc. The shrimp and grits were also phenomenal with THE best collards ever...In other words, seasoned to perfection and oh so succulent! The place usually has a line out the door on Sunday's and does have really good food. The hostess and servers and bus boys are awesome but good food shouldn't keep you coming here. The owner is an 40yr old toddler that should take some HR courses as well as some etiquette lessons. He treats his staff horrible and alot of his staff are 17-24yrs old yet he refers to them as pimps and their hoes and how can he be like them. He allows his personal relationship with the co-manger to overflow into the workplace, good, bad and the ugly. You don't get to the top by stepping on others especially when your twice their age...shame on you. I will be honest and say I entertained thoughts of having a "discussion" with him in person but I need to practice what I preach. I have chosen instead to hit him where it hurts...the pockets.
