My girly friend and I went for a Thursday Girl Dinner after work! We arrived around 430 and there was still a decent amount of parking. We were warmly greeted and had the best waiter! Plenty of seating but did fill up around 6pm! I got a lemon drop mocktail, which was absolutely delish! I think it was plain lemonade, but I'm not complaining. I also chose the petite steak salad, truffle fries and we shared a goat cheese round. Absolutely loved every single item. I will absolutely be back for that steak salad. It was tender, grilled to perfection and was just DELICIOUS!

What a great place. We needed a little lite bite this morning and wow they did not disappoint. Chicken and waffles. Best freaking waffles in the city. Like no one has better. Go get brunch here. My wife had the salmon salad. And it was amazing also. We will be back for sure

I had a great dinner at Incline on 9th with my girlfriends. It was a beautiful day and we were seated on the patio. I had the "Boy Dinner" Adult Happy Meal. I really enjoyed the burger and fries. I had the Devil's Kiss for my drink and I would definitely get this again. Our food came out quickly and our server was great about checking in. I think both the "Girl Dinner" and "Boy Dinners" are good deals for what you get. We went on a weekday evening so it wasn't that busy but I would still recommend making reservations as it got busier over time. We are already planning to return!

Incline on 9th is a fairly new restaurant, located in the West Bottoms area. I've seen multiple event advertisements over the last few months, and decided to stop in for Happy Hour one Friday. The menu offerings are very diverse, there's something for everyone. I had the birria nachos and rangoon fries. The nachos were my favorite! They were smothered and covered with slow cooked meat, queso, jalapeños and pico. The price point didn't feel very happy hour-ish, but I'd be okay paying for them again. The waiter was so friendly and did a great job helping me navigate the menu. I will be back

Definitely an interesting place. The menu has a lot on it to make your mind go in all directions. Lunch is light during the day but haven't tried dinner time. I got the sloppy Ralph and it was good I think the menu is good, but the prices seem to be high based on location and KC in general. Willing to try it again

Finally gave Incline on 9th a try for brunch, and boy am I glad I did! From the moment we entered the door, the staff were so incredibly welcoming and helpful. We got a great run down of the menu from our server. Incline on 9th is more sophisticated and upscale than I was expecting out of the West Bottoms. The dinner menu especially looks to be on the fancier side. As for brunch, they have some real creative and unique options such as breakfast soup and grilled cheese & tomato eggs Benedict. The latter was totally delicious -- loved the tomato "soup" hollandaise on top! They also have a great brunch cocktail menu. Highly recommend the BOC. They host drag brunch on the weekends! Tons of fun, and a great way to be introduced to this place. Super inclusive and welcoming space. They have a small parking lot next to the building, or there's usually street parking available on 9th. Can't wait to come back and try more!

Fortune favors the bold. That being said, I definitely played it safe and ordered the biscuits and gravy at brunch with friends and ended up with a lackluster meal. However, my friends had the breakfast burrito and the rib sandwich. Both meals were excellent. The best part however, was when they cleared the table and I declined a to go box the server picked up on my disappointment in the meal and really tried to make it all right for me! He asked for my feedback, made sure that I wasn't leaving hungry and even comp'ed my meal. I really got the I'm that they're just trying to figure out what tue public wants and how to pair that with their team's skill set. Overall I'm happy to go back and give them another go.

I was looking for a new stop in KC and came across Incline on 9th. Thanks to the other fine reviews it looks like I found a place that I want to stumble into more often. I went for lunch on a Wednesday and the lunch crowd was light. I ordered the Sloppy Ralph which is their spin on a traditional Sloppy Joe and they hit it out of the park. Very flavorful but a good balance of sauce so you can still taste the meat. Paired with a side of hand cut fries ($2 upcharge) and a Valtrex (Tequila and Mezcal cocktail) I was sold. The bartenders who waited on us were excellent, the place had a cool eclectic moody vibe. This is a must try place. Tucked away in the West Bottoms with plenty of parking.

This was a cute spot. Went here for a Galentine's event and the food portions were good as well as the drinks! Have to come back for another visit. Service was fast as well

Really excited to checkout the new restaurant in place where EJs used to be. The restaurant has very eclectic decor. I feel like they were going for setting up instagrammable backdrops. A nice mural is centerpiece wall where restrooms are behind; Then there red booth/chair deco space and an earthy high table corner. The bar has plenty of space as well. When you view the menu, I became curious about the prices. Again there's a cash vs credit difference. I thought it was because of the convention & tourism but that should be for restaurants so I was told because of use of credit card which means I'm paying the machine fee. I'm glad it's up front because it gives me the option to leave. We enjoyed the shareable : Rangoon fries.. literally crab Rangoon dip.. this was very delicious. Real crab meat. My chicken sandwich was definitely topped with plenty of mozzarella, melted and thick with arugula and pesto spread. The bottom part of sandwich was soggy from the juice but Preston got me another brioche bun. I didn't get much flavor from the chicken itself. My mom devoured her cod fish tacos. I tasted a corner, for me the fish was very crunchy but flavorless. I tasted oil more than anything so I'm guessing with the toppings: corn, hibiscus aioli, cabbage; it would've been better. Preston was great. Everyone is very hospitable.

Food: collectively we decided that these folks can cook!Plates were devoured. I enjoyed just about everything. I wasn't a fan of the chicken if the waffles but I was on an island to myself with that opinion. The incline burger done medium, no aioli, add carmelized onions was chefs kiss. Drinks were a miss but remember the food was center target! I still gave 5 stars because service and food was great. It was relatively quiet when we went. Perhaps because it rained but we enjoyed. They have a cute mural on the wall which is perfect for photos. Service was awesome. Zero complaints. They were so attentive and kind. We will be back and back again!

Does anyone remember the Wordsweather cafe? They had the best Rueben in the city. Incline on 9th is in that space. Popped in early evening on a Saturday. Quite a few tables were occupied - which is a good sign. Sat at the bar. Bartender greeted me immediately and served me a water. Solid cocktail, beer and wine selection. Ordered the fish tacos and purple kettle chips. The 3 tacos were served in flour tortillas. The fish were breaded. The cod was meaty, flaky and well battered. Good size portion. The kettle chips were crunchy and addicting. Limited gf options. Pescatarian options- salmon, fish, shrimp, scallops, etc. Lots of beef and pork on the menu. Even lamb. Prices are spendy and don't match the casual bar feel. Street and lot parking next to the building. If you're in the area it might be worth a stop. I'd come back for happy hour or a late night bite.

Decor lounge type clean very well decorated and table wear upscale! Service - excellent attentive and knowledgeable about the menus and drinks. The cocktails were balanced. We had two servers as we arrived and stayed between shift change. It was clearly evident that the team was well trained as the drinks came out exactly the same! Food- the appetizers were as delicious as they presented. I am so excited to come back and try their dinner and brunch menus! This place is a great new find! So glad to have a great North side neighborhood restaurant and bar!!!!

That changed yesterday, when Diana Condori, the bar manager, was named a 2026 James Beard Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service semifinalist. As we love supporting restaurants and bars that receive that kind of recognition, my wife and I headed to Fern Bar that evening. I was especially curious what exactly a "sugarcane and agave bar" meant. We arrived around 5:30pm and found only a handful of guests inside. After congratulating the bartender who first served us, he mentioned that Diana was working that night and would stop by to meet us. During our conversation, Diana shared that she didn't even know she had been nominated. She woke up Tuesday to a call from owner Bryan Arri, who said he had big news and was coming over. Her first thought was that something terrible had happened--like the bar had burned down. Instead, he showed up with coffee and told her she was a James Beard honoree. Diana is originally from Bolivia and has lived in Kansas City most of her life, with the exception of time spent in San Francisco during the pandemic. She further refined her cocktail craft through local pop-ups in Kansas City under the name Condor's Cove. When Bryan was preparing to open Fern Bar, he reached out to bring her onto the team. The printed cocktail menu immediately reminded me of the Monarch and the Mercury Room--not surprising given Bryan's background at Manifesto and the Monarch. Thoughtful, intentional, and clearly designed for people who appreciate serious cocktails. We planned on having one or two drinks but ended up staying for three, thanks to an outstanding lineup and a memorable conversation with Diana. We tasted: * No Fly Zone - Rum, agave, pineapple foam * Mr. Collage - Smooth, elegant, egg-white cocktail * Three Negroni Lunch - Bitter, boozy, and beautifully balanced * Pendergast No. 4 - Complex and spirit-driven * It's Bananas - Banana liqueur with bright tropical notes * Off the Rails - Creative and well-executed rum/agave cocktail One downside of many cocktail-forward bars is the lack of food, but Fern Bar offers two varieties of mini burritos for $4--just enough protein to keep things balanced while indulging. Great concept, exceptional service, and truly memorable drinks. Check it out--and be sure to say hello to Diana.

Second I tried the Neo Cosmo (white rum, strawberry, cacao, coconut, rose hip, lime, bubble) which was good and was a fun drink with an ice cream shaped cup and a bubble on the top (meant to look like an ice cream cone).
