O'hare is pretty terrible when it comes to food, and this place is the last worst, I guess. Unfriendly service: I was going to get a bowl and sub the rice for price, but the wouldn't allow that, so I got a salad plus chicken - $23 for lettuce and fried vegetables in preserved lemon juice. Given that my expectations for airport food were quite low, Urban Olive, which is located in the food court of O'Hare Airport's Terminal 5, turned out to be a pleasant surprise. While the menu was limited, all three of us found something we were happy with. I had the Falafel Platter, which came with rice, tzatziki, hummus, and cucumber salad. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. My husband opted for the steak, and our daughter chose the chicken, both were satisfied with their meals. We were simply looking for a quick, decent bite to eat, and this spot delivered. Prices were reasonable, especially for an airport, and the food was relatively healthy, too. It was good. I was traveling Southwest and in the email they send out beforehand, it noted that after a certain gate number there are limited food options. This was right before I headed to my gate in the land of few food options, so I decided to grab something here. The food was good, if small (especially considering the price), but I expect to be price gouged at the airport so it wasn't anything that surprised me. The chicken was good although not very strongly spiced, so I am glad I asked for the tzatziki, hummus, and salad on the side to add it in myself. Service was friendly and fast. My only complaint would be that they only had forks and knives (unless they were just out), and that isn't super helpful to me to eat rice. read more

I spent $37 for two pitas and found out AFTER I ordered that they were out of hummus!! Hummus comes standard on all of the pitas, it says so on the menu. This woman in the photo needs to be fired! She doesn't speak English at all well enough to be taking orders and is stupid and lazy! She had multiple opportunities to tell me there was no hummus, and we would have ordered something else! My daughter wanted no cucumber salad and no tzatziki sauce on hers, and I kept repeating, "but she DOES want hummus." Then a few minutes later they asked again and I clarified again "no cucumber salad or Tzatziki sauce but yes hummus. I talked slowly and repeated so she could understand. Then she said something on another language to the other lady making it. My daughter's pita sat there with just tomatoes on it and I asked why there was no hummus on it and THEN they said they didn't have any! I told her she should have told me that. The man in the photo came out and asked what was wrong and I told him that she didn't tell us there was no hummus and he offered to put chickpeas in. I said yes I definitely want chickpeas then on mine. There were NO CHICKPEAS! Also THERE is no cucumber salad, which I very clearly said I wanted!!! I got a plain, dry pita, with an inch of mushy vegetable mix, and that was it! How can you screw up BOTH sandwiches?? Also, the vegetable mix either has way too much salt in it today, or they sabotaged mine and dumped a ton of salt on it. It was absolutely inedible! Not a little too salty. Like absolutely inedible. I had to throw it away! So for $37 I ate dry bread and French fries heading into a 9 hour ordeal where food will be closed at my next layover. Of course, we had walked 10 minutes to our gate before sitting down to eat and there was nothing we could do. This was the worse airport food, I have ever eaten. I really did not eat just tasted it. Sounded good steak pita, fries, hummus, taatziki and cucumber salad. Steak was cold tough and tasteless. Very small menu and not much for salad options. Wanted the Mediterranean salad but once I saw the old wilted nasty looking leaves and browned up cauliflower and unidentifiable brown stuff that the staff couldn't tell what it was either, I told him to scratch the Mediterranean and get me the Greek since the romaine lettuce at least looked a bit more lively than the wilted and left out too long Mediterranean salad. The tomatoes are huge chunks, not bite sized, forgot and didn't think I would need a knife. Ate the tomato like an big Apple slice. The herb feta tastes decent and some of the yellow peppers were fresh and tasty, some were older and darker in color and didn't have the fresh bite of the brighter yellow peppers. At least the romaine lettuce looked crisp and green, much more so than their Mediterranean salad. Urban Olive offers a good variety of salads and Mediterranean dishes. I chose to get the steak plate with the rice. It came with steak, rice, salad, and humus for about $14.50. It's a pricey meal, but it was decent when shared with my husband, especially in conjunction with the 4 WowBao buns from next door. The steak came out cooked medium, and the rice was pretty standard. I liked the tzatziki sauce, and the cucumber/cilantro/tomato/onion side dish was a fresh combination to complement the other components of the meal. The humus was not very good. Overall, the service was subpar, especially as the credit card was not working that Wednesday morning (around 10:30am). The seating area was nice and clean with plenty of outlets to recharge electronics. The bathrooms, on the other hand, could use a more maintanence. read more

A good food option in Terminal 5! Pitas, salads, and other Mediterranean Faire. I was happy to get a good salad before heading to China where it will me hard to get good vegetables! The Mediterranean salad was pretty good, it had artichokes garbanzo beans, and tomatoes. Dressing could have been more flavorful but at least it all tasted fresh! The pitas were on the dry side but everyone seemed happy with the rest of their food. Ordered the chicken pita, a salad and two bottles of water. I stood by the counter for 20 minutes waiting for my food while the employees served multiple people that got their food quicker. In all fairness, I think my order was called out once, but the guy only called it out once and didn't ask if I was waiting for my order, despite the fact that I was 1 meter away from the counter... When I finally got the food I only got 1/3 of the order and had to specify again what I had ordered. The pita bread was dry, the chicken tasted burnt and had a rubber-like consistency. The fries were lukewarm and could've used used some more salt. For a total of over $35 plus a $5 tip I left with the feeling that I had wasted my money.
