My daughter loves this place. She can get trendy items for not too costly and can wear them for awhile. We did just buy a shirt that 1/2 way thru the first time she wore it, it ripped so now I need to bring it back to UO. That is not acceptable. We usually have good luck with the items we buy. Employees are very friendly and helpful and that is a big plus. I'm happy to help her buy items that look good on her (most everything, by the way). Aside from having a men and women clothing they also have a home décor. I really like the jacket that I bought when last time I came here. I really like the quality of the fabric. Its 100 percent cotton so it is comfortable to wear. I came here again to buy another jacket. I also buy one jacket for my sister. She also like the jacket. I came here by afternoon and I am the only one customer so some staff assisted me. I went straight to the jacket area and ought 3 jackets with different design and color. Since they have home décor I look for some frame. They also sell frame with different design. I choose a flower and purchased it. I went to the counter and paid my purchased. UO is another basic hipster store with cool items that you can find at a Goodwill, resale shop or in your own closet if you're patient and crafty enough. Every now and again I'll spot an item that worth purchasing. What would you rather have, some ghetto wig shop or another Check Cashing place? UO has some cool things to wear or deck out your APT. The clothes are fun. It is a bit pricey but the quality is good. Like I said, the risk here is that you might end up looking like everyone else with what you get here. But I guess that is a true testament to your sense of style. I bought my art supplies here in this mall. They have a huge area of arts section. If you're an artist this place is the best for you.They have an expensive price (a branded) and a cheap price but with a good quality. I only bought cheap price art supplies because I have not enough money to buy an expensive one. I bought canvas and acrylic paint. I got a new friends when I'm looking a pen. She also an artist and make an art using canvas, bond paper and venom board. We got a long chitchat and share a new tips to each other. After buying everything I need we went to food court with my new friends. The food that we ordered was pretty amazing. We plan to go back here and buy new art supplies. read more

Today I learned that the jean jackets that I have been keeping in my closet for over 10 years can now be sold for $50 a pop. Also I found that olive drab military-style jackets (which I was wearing at the time) that sell for $50 at a army surplus store, just need white paint spattered all over them and sell for $110 (very modern art.) And that Nirvana shirt that I owned in 1993? If only I kept that- it now retails for over $40. Anyways, what's old is new again. They have fun books and cute trinkets that are routinely easy to find at UO and not at other similar shops. i think most of us have a problem admitting that we shop at the UO. And thats rightly so- given the craze of the 'hipsters'. Just get over yourself we are all hipsters- it took me a long time to admit that. Yeah UO has a lot to offer; I think it also depends on how you mix and match your wardrobe. I don't walk into UO and select an outfit right off the mannequin or buy up a ton of overpriced screenprinted shirts and slap them with pair of $100+ skin tight jeans. Please... I have taste people. It's all about the sale rack. I'm not gonna lie to you, sometimes you gotta pay the bills for something nice, but if you team that up with something of a lesser brand or quality you can get away with it. I also shop at Sears, Marshalls, Old Navy and Village Discount. It's all how you put yourself together- you can look like a million dollars if take your time and save your money. I went here to buy "hipster gear" for a concert I was attending in Wicker Park/Bucktown. And oh man did Urban Outfitters deliver... But apart from looking the part of a Bucktown/Wicker Park local, I was super comfortable in my hipster-wear, and scored an obscenely cute hoodie, some really fun candles (black currant? yes please!), and the most awesome chandelier thing in the whole world. And once I figure out how to affix said chandelier thing to my ceiling fan without breaking things, I'll be pretty psyched. Urban Outfitters is one of those weird stores where I'm not really sure if it's all right for me to be there. I almost feel like I'm sneaking in to my big brother's room to borrow his clothes and if I get caught, I'll get punched in the stomach. I want to feel like I belong, but for some reason I genuinely feel out of place. That being said, I have ventured in here on a few occasions (being from the neighborhood) to see what's going down and there were a few things I liked, disregarding my general awkwardness for the whole situation. The store is actually pretty cool with two different levels and that signature, laid-back, trendy feel you get with some of the other vintage stores along the Milwaukee strip (obviously not as individually retro as a boutique shop, but still fun all the same.) I am ALWAYS greeted at the door even if the employee is busy at the register and, on average, 65% of the staff is friendly. You'll still find your "too cool for school" guy that's more concerned with combing his mustache and folding shirts than asking me if I need help with anything (that was more of a vague, perhaps unjustified, generalization about no one in particular, but it has happened before.) If you're looking for a colorful plaid shirt, worn to the point of almost destroyed cowboy boots or overly priced cardigans, Urban Outfitters is your place. Either way, I still feel comfortable giving them a mediocre rating for their service and layout. I just wish I could get more out of their selection. And who am I kidding, I'll be back. read more

This is the best Urban Outfitters as far as men's selection and sales go. They actually have a ton of crap on sale every time I'm there. I'm over the whole 'funny Urban Outfitters t-shirt' (a trend so over the top you can now buy the same 'funny' shirt at Target for less than $10), but it's a great place to stock up on the basics like soft undershirts, hoodies, jeans, etc. People will bitch about how it's a chain and it's destroying the sacred integrity of the Wicker Park aesthetic...and then go next door to a boutique store and pay 4 times the price for exact same shirt. I will occassionally stop in to rummage through the sale merchandise, but this location has the least options in that department. I had never heard of this, how do you say, 'Urban Outfitters' until I walked passed it on a cold winter day in Wicker Park. What a cozy, 'ma and pa' type of place! Everything is 100% authentic vintage, nothing was over priced, and you can tell the owners are just laid back and cool, like you and me, ya know? This is the type of place that gets me for the individual that I am. See, I'm not like you 'regular folk.' I wouldn't be caught dead in a shirt from Spencer's Gifts, and Hot Topic is for pop-punk weirdos- but this place... They get me. For example, a shirt with a tree growing out of a heart with lots of 17th century crests on it may be too 'extreme' for you 'Average Joe's,' but I'm different. I march to the beat of a different drummer. Oh, and speaking of music, you won't be haring U2 blaring throughout the store like in your precious A&F or American Eagle. Sorry gramps! You might not be aware of it, but there's this little band called The Shins and they will melt your face off. Back to the retirement home for you, old timer. Its a struggle with this store. You hate having to pay the price, but where else are you going to find some of this shit? I'd strongly suggest against paying for anything full price at this store. I've only bought things here on sale, and even at that point it is still expensive. The last time I shopped here, they were having a first ever, 75% off already sale items. I made a killing. I bought items that were orginally priced at $40.00 for like 2.50. I probably spent a total of $15 dollars and got close to $200.00 of orginal priced items. MY GOD! The thing I hate about UO's is that they're all a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle different every time you step in. But I was THRILLED coming to this location for the first time. They had my favorite fitted tee's 2/28 again and I pounced on it. I was at the Woodfield UO not too long ago and was in love with a grey tee with purple deer but the sizes there were XS-M tops. They told me they could order it to the store for no extra charge which is normal for the chain. However, it would be about an hour out of the way to go back, and I figured I'd visit the Evanston store eventually and hope for the best. All UO's tend to have a little different selection of that sort of tee (which is a regular item type) and so I wasn't expecting to find my grey deer shirt, BUT I DID! And in my size none the less! I was SO EXCITED! What made me MORE excited was that I loved their selection better than the Woodfield store, and had trouble figuring out what my second tee would be! I was in LOVE with two other shirts, and eventually picked a rather floral pattern. I don't always go out of my way to buy clothes, even though I'm an intense window shopper (just in case) and I had no buyer's regret after wards. Also, I've noticed that UO's have been losing their sale sections, but this one had a super great one, I just didn't want to go buying a thousand things! They even had fragrances which I was shocked to see in the sale section. It's out of the way and quiet, a little cramped but not annoying. Their shoe selection was more men-based, so thankfully I wasn't looking for shoes. We were hoping there would be a bigger selection of Tom's but there were more Van's. Overall, SO ready to come back to this UO. Their apartment section is as large as I've seen them, and they have a lot more house wear variety than most. Stop in! read more

If Yelp allowed half stars, this would definitely be a 3.5 star review. This review is strictly for the Wicker Park spot as no one cares what chain anything you decide to Yelp. True story. This is by far my most favorite U/O location in all of everywhere. The size of this store is huge but nothing crazy and it feels like home every time I pop in. I know where everything I need is and I'm usually boppin' my head while I peruse. Soundtrack approved. Another true story: yesterday I went jogging around the 'hood and wound up here on a whim. And there went my cardio. Plus, my boyfriend is in love with the BDG cotton tees and tri-blend tees here. He's actually gotten me to love them too so I've started buying the women's BDG tees -- the cotton is out of this world comfy. Speaking of which, these tees (men & women's) are now 2 for $24. And at $18 a pop, that's highway robbery - go now! The staff is always very nice - not overly nice, they're still 2/3 hipster afterall, but behind the pork pie hat and/or blue eyeliner, they really do want to help a sistah out. There are always really random sales here too, a good chunk of the entire upper level is dedicated to sales merchandise and occasionally downstairs, they'll have a rack on sale. It doesn't have to be too spendy if you don't want it to be. I do love this location. And any place I can holler at a Munny as an impulse buy is a win in my book. read more

Urban employees are always too cool for school, obviously some sort of attitude requirement to become part of the Urban family, but these folks have helped me out with a smile and I appreciate that. I very RARELY rate clothing stores on Yelp, but the experience I had at Urban last night was definitely Yelp worthy. My friend and I went into this Urban that I go to most often since it's closest to my apartment. I've never really had any issues there, although nothing outstanding really stands out in my mind. However, last night, 10/2, a man was working the cash register (there was no one being run up) and I asked to see a pair of shoes. He told me he only had 2 other employees and I would have to wait ten minutes. I'm sorry, what? What happened to customer service?!?! Asking someone to twiddle their thumbs so you can watch the cash register or another employee can stock a shelf, is unacceptable. My friend who was with me and works at Anthro (as a manager) was also appalled. I forgot about the shoes...my dog was outside and I wasn't going to sit there for ten minutes. My friend purchased her items and gave him her discount card at the end (she had never used her employee discount as she is new at Anthro) and he pretty much gave her a pep talk about how she needs to hand it to him before he rings up the clothes. Clearly, this kid was on a power trip. If he was a manager, I am really worried about this Urban Outfitters going down the tubes! Here's an idea: Hire people that are costumer service oriented, friendly, and inviting. Not one who makes you wait, give you condescending pep talks, and treat you like a bum off the street. read more

You know what Urban Outfitters has, you know the prices,and you know if it is for you.. My gripe is the astoundingly rude and worthless staff. I am big on customer Service and UO has exactly NONE. I love their home selection, and their shoes so I cannot give them zero stars but lord do they need to fire everyone. I had one female staffer tell me umprompted they probaby have nothing that fits me; being a size 12 top and size 16 bottom I have no doubt that was accuate but I was shopping for a GIFT and did not ask. I have been there five times and I am just astounded by the poor customer service, last night I was waving shoes in the air yelling "Hello!" and assumed nobody was on the floor when the two other peope there ignored me. Turns out they both "work" there. I hope they do not get commission checking me out. Other occurences: Sales people blatantly ignoring all attempts to get their attention and chatting, acting put out when I "excuse me" into the convesation. Asking where something was ony to get a silent point an an eyeroll. Asking if they had more of a certain item to be told "I don't know, I haven't worked in a couple days" followed by a walk away. Getting dirty looks when unfolding a sweater and having the person snatch it up as soon as I set it down, and folding it with an obviously offended tongue click. Once I got a cheerful girl at the register; her smiling and not behaving like a complete jerk has convinced me she is their best employee ever. Do they train these people? I am so confused. Top picks: t-shirt selection, shoes, accessories, LeSportSac, and many items within the Lux label. Stupid: Urban Renewal line -- if I wanted you to wash a shirt I got from the Goodwill, then I would have paid you for the water and the soap, not $28, kthx. Hint: Go on a day when they take 50% off the sale merchandise. It doesn't apply so much to guys, since the guys' selections never seem to go on sale. However, there is a glut of girls' clothing and you can end up getting things for a fraction of what they originally cost. read more

Best men's selection of all UO's. They actually have the entire second floor devoted to men's stuff, not just a corner. The stuffs not that expensive, compared to other store with similar style direction. Service is the worst out of all the other UO's I been to but I never need help when I'm shopping anyway. You can get jeans and more options from Levi for equal or less so its no point. But they have a lot of tops, hoodies, jackets etc. They also have a ton of accessories too. Some novelty toys but Near North location beats this hands down in that department. Good stuff and for the first time I can say that you aren't better off shopping online at this location. read more
