Gift and her husband operate a lovely space for food, conversation, and discussion. The food is quite delicious and unique among local Thai eateries. The service was excellent from offering suggestions or details about their offerings to checking on my needs throughout my time there. The owners made me feel most welcome and encouraged my return. The only downside I see for this place is that it only has street parking. I encourage anyone who likes Thai food to come, eat, and be treated well. Oh yes. HAPPY HOUR - Thursday and Friday from 3-6pm. I am very happy that I found this place and, if you come, you may feel the same way. Give it a try.

Pronounced: Safah Cafay. Parking: 2 hours street parking (need to move xar), else paid parking garage 2 blocks away from the cafe. Restroom: 1, clean decent Ambiance: old Thai kopitiam spot with nostalgic ornaments This place is popular amongst office workers. Opening hours is limited: mostly up from 8am- 2:30pm, only Thurs and Fri: opened again from 3pm-6pm. Sat-Sun only opened: 10am-2pm. Recommended: Kai Gata: all day classic Thai street breakfast Hainan Hustle: classic Hainanese chicken rice Drinks: Pandan cold brew Latte (not on menu-asked) Herbal lemongrass It seems they mainly stock their more popular items, so some of the less popular options aren't consistently available. It has DJ for certain occassions, due to limited space, they set it up outdoor, by the patio. Service: friendly, decent speed I recommend this place for folks looking for nostalgic old town comfort foods. EDIT: Their IG informed to pronounce it as "safah cafay", but the owner informed that my review is incorrectly pronounce it as "safah cafay" (?)

Located in downtown and close to the office, we decided to check it out. We got there around 12:30 and they were already out of some stuff. You start by ordering at the counter and then find a seat. We tried to order the kai gata but they ran out of the roll and offered regular toast. Since I was not a fan of eating it with regular toast, I asked if they had rice, they said no, but offered porridge. This porridge was not like any porridge that I have had and I've been to Thailand and had porridge. The consistency was more like oatmeal. Not a fan. We got the Pork Pops and Hainan Hustle which were both very good. For drinks, I got the Nam Krajeab (Roselle Juice), which was very refreshing. I like the fact that it was not too sweet. Ordering was simple but the delivery was a little chaotic. Some folks received a number and some didn't; we didn't. There were 2-3 servers that continued to walk around with food not knowing who or where to deliver it to. At one point, they tried to deliver the same dish to us twice. I felt bad for the servers, they were doing their best with what little info they had to go one. They have one big table for a group but the rest of the tables is mainly for a single, double or up to 4 diners. Street parking only. Love their support against ICE, will continue to support this business for that reason, alone!

There is indoor and outdoor dining available. Cute interior and cute waitress/ busser, who I assume is the young daughter of owner. You order at the counter and your food is brought out to you. I went with the sukhumvit sunrise wrap. The sai oua (sausage) within was flavorful and the roti was flaky. I'm happy with what I ordered. I'll have to come back to try the bak kut teh (pork rib soup). I've had it once in Singapore and this is my first time finding a place that serves it.

I personally give it a 5/5 but my partner didn't like it so much so whatever ~ I have been wanting to try this spot out for a while so excited when we have a free day to come check it out. Parking is not too bad, there's a decent amount of street parking . We were lucky to find a spot almost instantly. The vibe is quite cute inside and you order and pay at the counter before sitting down. I definitely had to get the pandan latte. It wasn't super sweet so I did like it but I've been into like cold foam lately so idk maybe a bit of that would have been better but that's fine. I got myself a sunrise wrap because the reviews were hyping it up and I was not disappointed. It is literally so good. I love the roti wrap it's so flaky and add a great texture. The side salad was a good touch because the acidity make the dish more interesting. I enjoy the little sauce that came with it and pour it all over the wrap. It's somehow so simple yet so comforting. Highly recommend. Of course I got a kaya toast because how else would you end a meal. It was the perfect choice. Not too sweet but just the right chef kiss amount. Ugh I'm upset my partner took half. He did not really like his kai gata unfortunately. So this so similar to a Viet breakfast dish but the difference is the meat. And it was a bit light on seasoning for us but they did bring out some chili oil. This one also took a bit more time to come out. Just a heads up. Overall the service was fine, food will take time depend on what you get, but I like the menu a lot of some stuff are definitely worth getting. The price is also quite fair as well so you can get a bunch of different things!

We came for brunch on a Saturday after going to the farmers' market since we were looking for a dog-friendly place. Cute interior and exterior. We got the indochine deli board, the Kai gata, dipper's delight and the coffee. Our favorite was the pate and pork on the indochine deli board -it was like a deconstructed banh mi. The fancy pork and roast pork were delicious with the pate. The cucumbers and picked carrot/daikon were refreshing to lighten the savory pork flavor. Everything else was solid-we'd consider stopping by again next time we're in the area.

It was morning and needed a coffee and found this place nearby so I went in. It has a cool vibe with a southeast Asian menu, Thailand, Malaysia, etc.. The coffee was good and they had a small selection of breakfast items that were pretty good. It looks like they have a separate bar area and a street food style small bite menu for lunch and evenings. I think this place would be a good place to come back to.

Consistently great experience each visit. Their drinks, food, ambiance, and staff, all of it, amazing. It's a cute quiet place to work in the mornings. I need to go during one of their evening events to check it out later in the day. But I've had their cloud matcha (refreshing) and pork pops with sticky rice (sooo mouth watering-must eat with hands ). Just recently, I ordered their kai gata - meats and egg dish. All the meat juices and eggs simmered together -mouth watering. I love the touch of white pepper on it!! The baguette I got with it was crazy good too with a crunchy exterior and super soft inside!! *Eyes rolling back* And, every time I visit, I must get the kaya butter toast because Pandan. Duh! I'll need to find friends to bring for their large shared plates. Or just come really hungry one day I want to learn majong too, so I might check out their majong night sometime. It's a cute local spot serving allll the goods - drinks, food, and vibes. Definitely worth checking out. Thank you, always!

I think Sapha Kafae appeared in my Yelp feed because I had searched for Kaya Toast while I was in Hong Kong and Malaysia recently. That's the magic of Yelp algorithm, I'm guessing! Sapha Kafae is a family-owned cafe and brunch spot near the State Capitol on the corner of O and 14th Street. It has a big eye-catching wall mural on the exterior and you can't miss it. Street parking nearby and don't forget to feed those meters. The interior has a laid-back vibe with a bar tugged in the corner. We wanted to try everything on the menu because the ingredients sounds amazing! For this visit, I had Kai Gata, popular Thai street breakfast with eggs, savory meats cooked in a personal skillet serve with warm baguette. There is something about eating from a personal skillet that just elevate the experience. It was savory and filling! I enjoyed it thoroughly. We shared the Kaya Toast (A Must!). This is another popular breakfast or after school snack from Singapore and Malaysia. It's equivalent to a Peanut Butter Toast in US. Nostalgic for me. Nicely toasted with a good amount of Kaya and warm! We also shared the Pork Pops (Moo Ping), grilled pork skewers that's nicely marinated and comes with addicting dipping sauce serve with sticky rice. My son loved it and I thought it was okay for me. My son had the Hainan Hustle (Khao Mun Gai) with tendered poached skinless chicken, infused rice, comforting broth and savory ginger sauce. He finished the entire dish wiped cleaned! He loved it. I tried a piece of the chicken and it was flavorful. As for specialty drinks. I like the Black Thai with expresso, Thai tea and condensed milk. A balance of strong coffee that's mildly sweeten. We expected the Pandan Cold Brew to be greenish but it was made as a Cold Brew with Pandan flavoring? because it was like sweeten black coffee. We asked the owner and he happily added milk foam on top. That was very kind of him. Tim, the owner checked on us and told us about the place that he owed with his wife, Gift. I was happy to find out that they have Mahjong Night on the last Thursday of the month. I plan to be there if I can make it and try other dishes. I'm happy to see more fusion menu items with laid back vibe spot like this in Sacramento. Go out and support our local small business!

i love the interior and appreciate both the well-ventilated indoor and outdoor seating options! got the kaya butter toast which was a bit pricy but SUPER yummy. the saltiness of the butter really complimented the sweetness if the pandan jam, and the bread was toasted perfectly! lovely and friendly service as well. will be back to try more of their menu options!

Since that visit I have returned three different times, always bringing someone different to show off this excellent restaurant find located near 73rd and Stockton Blvd Engawa Fusion is such a special place-this restaurant is over 30 minutes from my house in Natomas in traffic ,yet that never stops me from trekking my way across Sacramento-I love this place that much. On this particular visit we started with 2 different sushi tacos-We had the tuna version and the salmon version-each priced at $11.00. Now I could write a novel explaining the virtues of these culinary creations but I will keep it short-the tuna and the salmon tacos are such the perfect bite-well balanced-well seasoned-surprisingly heavy in the hand while being light to the taste-it's truly been my favorite new food item discovery of 2026. Next we went with the Stir-Fry Udon and this cost us $16.00. I've described this dish in the past as a dish I could eat every day of my life and would be a very happy person. The flavor and seasonings are flawless, the noodles are cooked perfectly, great chew-a very slurpable noodle for sure. I can easily see why this dish is such a popular item on their menu. This restaurant was given a spot on Yelps Top 100 Places to eat in 2025-nothing in this visit did a thing to show that honor wasn't well deserved. In closing-I don't know if I could recommend this spot any higher and I plan many future visits whenever I want to show people how amazing the culinary experience in Sacramento has truly become. 10/10 experience. PS-Parking could be a bit of a challenge as they share a lot with an auto shop but all of my visits I was able to secure a spot-I am sure you will as wel

Yes, today was our first. I'm a sucker for excellent customer service and Cafe Burma and Mikayla had me at HELLO. LOL NOTE: I DIDN'T DO ANY PRE- REVIEW UPON ARRIVING. The husband wanted a Monday Date night and who am I to say No. What we had: *Planta with Chicken Coconut Dip. This planta is a crossover of naan with Mochi like middle with the prefect crisp served with an amazing Chicken sauce. Yah...will be having this again. Hubby had most of it because I was saving my appetite for what's to come. *TeaLead Salad - Yes its a MUST. The fried seasoned garlic is the secret to why this salad hits the palate in the most perfect way. The dressing is oil based which wasn't over powering or even greasy. The peanut was tastefully done. Yes - I ate most of it. Fresh ingredients in every bite. *Chili Basil Beef - at first glance, it looked like Mongolian Beef but far from the taste. The cumin, ginger and chili flakes gave this dish the wow factor. Mind you, I dislike ginger pieces and didn't come across one piece so they must have used ginger powder which I appreciate. We all know the benefits of ginger and I feel like I got a dose of it without biting into one. *PadThai - we were warned that the Burmese way come with a hint of sweetness and this was definitely true but notoverpowering. Husband enjoyed it, me not so much. The dishes came with extra large prawns. You can tell the prawns we're seasoned first hand before getting tossed into the mix. DRINKS: Husband had the coconut monsoon (rum with coconut flakes and I had Bite Dog HAZY IPA - yum. Prime location - corner of 16th street and J, street parking. Restaurant was clean and with a bar and open kitchen concept. What I would have liked: I wish the aesthetic of the restaurant showcased the culture. Wish the dishes were served in a more traditional serving plates. My eyes eat first so I would have appreciated the extra touch but the TASTE definitely made up for it. Will definitely be back! Need to try a dessert next time. Thanks for having us Chef Burma.

Staff had great energy the whole time, which helped because food kept trickling out over almost two hours The samusa was fine, nothing too special. The platha had a solid crunch with a soft inside, but the vegetable curry dip tasted more like lentil soup than anything else. All the appetizers came with a spicy, vinegary red sauce that tied everything together. The fried tofu was the best one though, crispy but crumbles when you bite it, and that sauce on the side made it even better. The tea leaf salad had a strong umami and sour flavor, heavy on the sesame like taste. The garlic noodles were bland on their own but worked as a base. For curries we got the lemongrass tofu, mango tofu, black pepper tofu, and burmese eggplant. The burmese eggplant was one of the best things we ordered, sweet and savory. Lemongrass tofu was the other one to get, balanced and not spicy. Mango ran sweeter, black pepper ran hotter. Skip the pineapple rice, it tasted like plain rice. The basmati biryani was great, it had flavor and held up under the curries. For dessert, we got the sticky rice with mango ice cream, warm rice, tasty ice cream, worked together well.

The restaurant is super cute and has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered and shaded which is perfect for warmer Sacramento months. They have a variety of menu items including a build your own bowl opton, tacos, nachos, sandwiches, loaded fries, musubi and an udon special. I ended up ordering the Umami Udon with special chicken as my protein ($13.50), a Build Your Own Bowl with fried rice, katsu chicken, the triple katsu sauce, and stir fried veggies with "The Works" ($16.50), and Musubi ($8.75). The staff was super friendly and helped me make some decisions for my order and recommended the umami udon special, which I'm so happy about. The food was made fresh and took a little bit, but was packed with care and was nice and hot. I took it home to enjoy and the food was still hot and the portion sizes were really generous. The Umami Udon was amazing, it had perfectly cooked udon noodles that had a great chew in a creamy teriyaki sauce with smokey bacon, mushrooms, onions and garlic. It was a great mix of sweet and savory and lived up to it's umami name. I would order this again and again, it was so good. The Build Your Own bowl was also delicious and I can see why the chicken katsu is a customer favorite. The veggies were fresh and the fried rice was really flavorful. The Spam Musubi had thick slices of spam with a nice marinade and came with sauces for dipping. I'll definitely be back again soon, and while I want to explore more of the menu the umami udon is happening again!

We ordered at the counter and then sat at a table while we waited for our food to go. They offer bowls, tacos, nachos, rolls and sandwiches! I don't always know what to order at new places - so I liked that they had signs for specials as well as "favorites." We ordered the Rice with Teriyaki Chicken, Oliver's Favorite which was Spam Musubi and Spam and Bacon Fried Rice and Mom and Dad's Forbidden Feast. Everything looked and tasted really good! Obviously, it would have been much better had we actually eaten in the restaurant, but still no complaints once we got it home. Spam Musubi is one of my favorite things to eat so I could have downed like 5 of them! Portions were huge too - they even have a 100 year old teriyaki recipe! Overall, I would definitely come back and try other items! Staff were also very friendly, personable and gave great recommendations! Check them out!

My husband and I had dinner at Shu Mai tonight, and wow! We'll definitely be back…read more We ordered the roasted half chicken and the soft-shell crab cold noodles, and both were incredible. The cold noodles were packed with flavor and real crab, and the roasted chicken was perfectly cooked with an amazing char siu-inspired flavor. We made the rookie mistake of ordering two large plates for just the two of us, but they were so good we finished every bite. The service was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The entire staff was on top of everything, and the atmosphere was beautiful and inviting. We loved being able to watch the kitchen in action and see the care that goes into every dish. Already looking forward to coming back to try the spicy pho New York strip and the chili shrimp & watermelon salad!

But not worth the price -Crab fried rice: tasty! 10/10 would NOT get again? Their roasted chicken. I've actually never had chicken so dry before. I didn't think chicken could actually get that tough! Service: Our group tends to fight over the bill, so our friend had paid the bill mid meal, and when I say mid meal, I mean we had full plates and a few items coming out still. But baby! Once that bill was paid and that 30% cash tip was taken from our table, we did not hear from our server AGAIN. We had extra patè and ordered more donut bread for it and didn't get it until we had asked at least twice, if not three times, and by that time we were pretty much done with dinner. No water refills, no checking up on us. Nothing. Kind of funny when you think about it lol

Delicious! Might be my new favorite Sacramento sushi spot…read more Lunch set with kaisendon was a bit redundant because I also got the chef selection 18 piece sashimi which was much better. My partner and I each got a lunch set. Salad was great and so were the croquette and corn chawanmushi. Galbi was a little fatty but still good. Soft shell crab was too much crunch. Miso soup was nice and had mini scallops except the first scallop was still cold inside (I guess it was freshly put in and not overcooked). Service was good and only two other tables present. Did not try bathroom Plenty of parking Will return for another lunch set

I always have a great time in Azayaka. Staff are friendly and provide prompt service. The sushi…read morechefs look a little stoic, but I think that adds to their unique atmosphere. I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.
