I hosted a large group here for my partner's birthday last weekend. He just simply made a reservation via OpenTable. We had a large group of 14 of us . Unfortunately, due to previous bad actors they have a policy where you have to close out the tab at the table before you can go play putt putt. I wish I had known that because I thought people could come and go between eating and drinking and playing but I understand why the rules in place. Having known that I would have personally flipped to start with the activity and then finished with the meal and drinks for at least this large group. Visited Urban Putt for the first time and had a great time! I've only ever played mini golf at Golfland before, but I feel like Urban Putt really went all out on their course designs and creativity. Not all of the holes follow your typical "mini golf" structure and they add a lot of tech, games, and creative design to make each hole exciting to play! The staff were all very friendly as well. We tried some of the food, my favorite were the wings and the root beer float (it just hit different after playing 18 holes). It's nice having a mini golf area in DTSJ. Cool spot to spend a couple of hours. It's a neat activity and definitely different from other mini golf experiences I've had (especially outdoor mini golf). It's amazing how they fit 18 unique holes into a fairly small space. There's another spot called Tipsy Putt that is indoor golf themed. I would say Urban Putt's actual golf experience is a lot better - Tipsy Putt feels more like a frat party where the focus is on drinking with the golf / games more of an afterthought. I didn't have any food or drink while I was there (we were with the kids and needed to head back out). The menu looked like "pub food" - I say this in a good way as I love pub food. They also have unique looking drinks and some beer on tap. The place felt and looked very clean as well. Bathrooms were clean and in good working order. Parking was fantastic at the San Jose 2nd Street garage which is right across the street / around the corner. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but we were able to get 90 minutes of our parking free, so the final cost of parking was miniscule. The only place I've been to for mini golf is Golf Land and it wasn't something I really enjoyed. However, Urban Putt changed my mind about mini golfing completely. It's located in DTSJ and you could find parking at the E San Carlos parking garage! Urban Putt has 18 holes as a full course which is more than enough. The room is dim and has cool themes which is very unique in comparison to Golf Land. They also have a bar with hot foods including pizza, tater tots, wings and many more! We got the spiked frozen strawberry lemonade as well as the raspberry beer. Both were delicious. Overall, it's definitely a great place to mini golf or just to enjoy drinks with friends! Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite empty but I prefer it that way because we can take our time and didn't feel rushed. Price: $11 for 9 holes and $20 for 18 holes. I definitely recommend diing the full course because my friends and I agreed the decorations and displays were more entertaining on the latter half. It had neon lights and was very pretty. The only I wish the place had was automatic score keeping. It was a bit inconvenient having to hold a pen and paper while also trying to hold your ball and golf club. I called on Tuesday to confirm a table reservation for Saturday at 4:00 pm for 20 people. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and answered all of my questions, as it was my first time visiting. I specifically asked if it would be acceptable for me to order food for the table while guests ordered drinks at the bar and rotated through golf. I was told this was completely fine, with the only limitation being a three-hour table time, which I agreed to. Upon arrival, however, both the manager and our waiter rudely informed me that no one could order at the bar and that everyone had to remain seated at the table. They also stated we only had a two-hour limit because they were "fully booked." When I explained what I had been told on the phone, the manager dismissed it by saying the employee "didn't know what he was talking about" and implied he was insignificant because he only works once a week. I explained that I chose Urban Putt specifically based on the information provided, but my concerns were disregarded. As a result, I was forced to cover over $700 for the entire group, which I cannot afford. To make matters worse, I brought an ice cream cake along with my own plates, utensils, and knife, yet was charged $70 afterward for bringing a cake. When I questioned this charge, the waiter responded rudely and aggressively, stating he had "told someone" there would be a fee, but could not say who. The fee cost more than the cake itself. The waiter was consistently rude and unaccommodating throughout the evening. He refused to open separate tabs, walked away from guests mid-conversation, and was difficult to locate whenever we wanted to order drinks. His attitude made the experience extremely uncomfortable. I wish I had asked for a different server. Despite being told the venue was fully booked, the space was largely empty, with only a handful of other guests present and many unused tables marked "reserved." The entire experience was mortifying, humiliating, and upsetting, and it left me in tears. We couldn't even enjoy the golf due to the constant issues. Additionally, I had emailed twice in advance to inquire about a private room and never received a response--not even to say availability was limited. I had heard wonderful things about Urban Putt, but this experience lost the business of 20 people. I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning. read more

Incredibly creative mini golf course. The people who designed this really put a lot of thought into the history of the South Bay and incorporated so many really cool elements of that history into a mini golf course. People who have lived here a long time will really appreciate the inclusion of so many aspects of the South Bay. And it's nice that they explain what each display represents. I've lived here for several decades and actually learned a lot playing mini golf, which is not something Won usually says. The course itself is a lot of fun and I like how they've made each whole tricky and its own way. The food in the restaurant portion is also pretty good. I've come here just for dinner not even to play mini golf. If you're bored of normal mini golf, this is the place for you! I brought my friends here for a birthday celebration and we were blown away with how creative and well-crafted each hole was. The Winchester Mystery House hole was especially cool. Each hole also has a small historical blurb on the history behind each hole so you can learn a bit of local history while you play. We found these holes well worth the price at $20 per person. The staff were very friendly checking us in and it was easy to park and walk to from the Second Street garage. Super unique theme / holes! Liked this place a lot more than I expected to! Went on a Friday night around 8:30pm and there was a 30 minute wait to play. We got drinks and sat at the bar til we got notified that it was our turn Honestly I'm not a huge mini golf person but I would definitely come back here! My boyfriend and I came here after dinner for a lil date night. it was a bit confusing at first because the area was blocked offf so we had to go around and find the entrance. There is a security guard that checks your ID at the door. Since we got here around 10pm on a Saturday, we had to wait about 30-40 minutes for our turn. There were no other tables so we found two seats at the bar. Since we just came from dinner, we only got drinks! My boyfriend got a beer and a shot, I got the frozen Pineapple Putt Putt. I saw that the bartender got it from slushy machine like the swirls from Aquis. My drink was really good so I downed it hella fast. I also got the Happy Accident (regular cocktail). I saw that time, I saw that the bartenders barely make drinks here -- my cocktail literally came from a spout... Onto the golfing section. You choose and pay between the 9 hole and 18 hole. My boyfriend and I did the 9 hole first, but since it only took us about 20 minutes (this is with waiting for people's turn too!), we went back and told the cashier that we wanted to do the 18 hole (you pay the difference) My boyfriend and I enjoyed the golf course designs and had fun trying to make it into the holes for each one, although some of them were really hard -- the shark one I have no idea how anyone got it lol. Some of them were not putting holes either -- like this duck one where I had to launch the ball into the air. I like that they had glow in the dark balls to help us see it in the dark/black light. I do like that there are tables or an area to put your stuff/drinks down as you play.... although they were kinda small and needed to be cleaned.... I have been to the Urban Putt in SF before it closed down and the construction and design was a bit better quality than the one here. We had to wait for the group ahead of us to go half the time, so I recommend not going with a huge group. My younger cousin was graduating high school and I flew into town to host a small dinner and putt putt night. I made reservations a week in advance online on their website which is partnered with open table. You have to use your credit card for the dining reservation. This doesn't get charged unless you are a no show. I do not know how much they charge if that happens. Parking is hard to come by, you have to park in one of the surrounding parking garages. You have to walk a little bit and you will eventually find the place. My cousin and my godson are under 21 and their website says you have to be in the building by 8pm to stay on the premises. Nobody can come in after 8pm if you're under 21. We sat at a long communal table that sat 12. Our server was on top of everything and the manager was very friendly and we chatted about how we once lived in the same city in the past. The food was fun and tasty , drinks were great for being mocktails. 12 people all ordered different desserts and food. Came out to about $250? Then after we ate , we all played golf. Such unique and creative holes. There were ones that were steampunk, tech stuff, Winchester mystery themed, and just all around fun. It is quite dark and that was a bit hard on my eyes. There is clean restrooms and an arcade upstairs. Everybody said they had a good time. You don't have to make dining reservations for smaller groups of like 4-5.Dining and golf is first come first served if you go that way and golfing is always a walk in thing. With the saddening news that my favorite mini golf spot, Urban Putt, had closed down its SF location (the venue soon to be replaced by another mini golf/bar combo), my disappointment quickly turned into excitement when I found that the SJ location had finally opened. And my recent experience here, during their grand opening, was just as impressive, a bright, modern, and spacious venue with lots to offer. Besides the UP standard of high tech props and designs, the course was even more charming with creative and entertaining holes representing the Silicon Valley, including a circuit board, downtown SJ, the Shoreline Amphitheatre, the Lick Observatory, and the Winchester Mystery House (with disappearing holes that retracted on the ground, and a cool piano... but it wasn't self-playing or anything like that). Beyond that was a variety of random and amusing elements like a UFO crash site, the Kraken's Lair (reminiscent of the submarine hole at the former SF location), tilting table mazes, vertical skeeball, and a duck hunt-like hole. Some holes were closed ("coming soon" signs) like the Crop Circle finale, and others were out of order, for instance Jose, the blue animatronic shark, did not move at all (we could open his mouth using our hands, but it was clearly not working), and some were a bit confusing as to what you were supposed to do (there were small signs on the walls near most holes, but they weren't lit and were easy to miss, since the entire setup in the mini golf course involves walking through tunnels and cave-like structures, so some parts are dark if not illuminated by colored lighting). Also, no cell phone service in most parts of the mini golf course. Service was outstanding, so many employees ready to help, and just a 15-20 minute wait to play after putting our name and phone number down at the counter on a Thursday (you receive a text when it's your turn). We even got great drink recommendations from the bartender. The Happy Accident was delicious, just the right amount of sweetness, and STRONG... they certainly make good cocktails here, and you can bring them onto the course (not food though). We had dinner here too, the chicken wings were made just right, juicy, spicy, flavorful, no complaints. The pepperoni and mushroom pizza was oily and a bit soggy, but definitely tasty with no shortage of toppings. This mini golf course and eatertainment venue is housed in the former Camera 12 movie theater. Parking is what you would expect downtown, meaning not so easy, but not impossible especially if you're willing to pay a fee. Our recent experience wasn't perfect, but it was their very first day, so I'm sure they'll work out the kinks, which would turn it into a 5-star establishment. Overall a fun experience and awesome venue I can see myself visiting time and time again now that I've found an Urban Putt closer to home. read more

What a fun addition to downtown San Jose! Parking lot close by OR easily accessible from VTA light rail. The vibe is very fun here. I loved the golf ball / round theme throughout the building to include the hallway and restrooms. You can't reserve golf time ahead of time - but that's ok. Staff is ready to assist you with getting you a drink. Their shirts say it all - Eat Drink Putt So - do it! The mini golf experience is really fun - each hole is representative of something here in South Bay. I've visited Urban Putt 2 different times, 1 for food & another for golf. For food: you're able to make reservations. I was actually surprised with how big the portion was for the Loaded Tot'chos. It was so crispy. Loved it! They give a good amount of toppings too. Service was pretty fast. We went on a Saturday evening & was able to walk in For golf: they said the wait over the weekend was 3 hrs but on a Tuesday night there was no wait. There are no reservations for this. They do have discounted prices right now since not all the courses are finished. I loved how the theme is Bay Area, so they had courses based on Shoreline & Winchester. Came here for a team offsite and it was so much fun! We made a 3h reservation which came with food, open bar and 1h priority play for mini golf. I was pretty impressed by the food selection. Came the Urban Putt on a Saturday with the SO around 2PM because we had somewhere to go within the Downtown area and wanted to be there early in order to find parking. Lucky (or unlucky for us), Downtown San Jose happened to host several events that made traffic horrific, even when we arrived 5 hours before our scheduled event. We actually had trouble finding the location even while using Google maps. For some reason I thought it was located within the now-closed movie theater (RIP), or the now-closed gym, or even the now-closed Johnny Rockets... Urban Putt is instead situated right off the lightrail tracks on 2nd Street. Their signage is minimal and unassuming for an indoor mini-golf/bar/restaurant. While walking up to the door, I was able to make a reservation via OpenTable for right as we walked in lol. Walking in, I was met with a huge hanging centerpiece, a bar on one side, the entrance to play mini-golf on the other, and a bunch of table and seating in the center. All the mini-golf stuff is hidden behind a structure so I couldn't really see any of that when we first walked in. So futuristic/spaceship aesthetic. We were seated right away thanks to our reservation even though we saw a ton of Reserved placards on almost every empty table. I guess that is to deter people who are waiting for their turn to play from sitting down. **Note!: Make sure you put your name down on the mini-golf waitlist BEFORE you sit down to eat! Service was amazing thanks to Jio! We ordered a lot for just us two, but we were prepared for leftovers lol. Prices were definitely higher, but oh well. - Loaded tot'chos: super crispy tots, not a lot of beef - Hot honey wings: tender, but not enough sauce - Pad Thai pizza: pretty good, tangy/peanuty, and good crunch from the bean sprouts - OMG burger: you'll need quite a lot of napkins... and a nap after this one. The parmesan crusted Texas toast was yummy but hard to cut into. On to the actual mini-golf part... sad to say I was not a fan! First, you can choose to play only half the courses for $9, or the full course for $18. Come to find out there is a sign at their front desk that we are currently their "beta testers". Second, not all courses were even available to play, so I feel like the price should have reflected that (plus the whole beta tester thing should have come with some sort of discount). Some courses were super cool (Day of the Dead), and others were so gimmicky that I cannot believe they even counted as a course (robot hitting, pulley/plinko, horse racing). Literally one of the courses had us chuck our ball underhand (HAND!!!) into a pit designed around Nintendo's Duck Hunt. Third, maybe I suck, but if everyone else around me cannot get a hole-in-one at ANY of the courses even if they went the 'correct' way, then maybe the courses need to be re-evaluated. There were multiple courses which offered a straightforward route to the hole, while also waving a cooler way to get to the same hole. You'd think going the cooler way would ensure at least a hole-in-one or at least par. But no, you either kiss the rim, hit the hole and bounce out, or just appear somewhere else away from the hole entirely. Overall, we still made it a fun outing regardless of Urban Putt's flaws. Would I come back? Possibly, if it's with a group of friends and the courses are ALL available. But at this moment, definitely not. read more

Kinda gimmicky. If you're in the mood for actual mini golf, go somewhere else. If you just want to drink and have a good time while playing a little bit of mini golf, this is your place. If I remember, like 4 or 6 out of the 18 "holes" had nothing to do with you actually teeing a ball into a hole- they were just little gimmick stations where you played mini games. Most of the courses aren't over 15ft in length either so your 18 holes are up really quick. It doesn't help that these courses are really easy I will say though, they have some awesome set designs. Staff has always been friendly and welcoming, which adds to the great atmosphere. The reason I'm giving 4 stars overall is because of the food quality. The first time we ate here, the truffle pizza was amazing--packed with flavor and worth coming back for. Unfortunately, on our most recent visit, it was bland and barely had any truffle taste. We also ordered the calamari, which was a big letdown--soggy, broken into bits, and honestly surprising that it was served that way. Urban Putt is still 100% worth visiting for the mini golf--it's one of the most fun and unique spots around. This place was really fun! Opens at 4-5pm and believe it's over 21s after 8pm (think it's open 12pm weekends) closed Mondays Didn't eat though smelt good and large eating area. Games are really fun and themed lots of cool lighting and additional games that aren't just mini golf ! Think it was about $20 and $15 for kids but this could change.
