One of the ingredients in here was the bad kind of bitter that tastes like dirty soapy dishwasher, so this was a huge miss - The fried paneer sandwich: good, but it was really the quality and flavor of the manresa bread bun that was really carrying this dish - The beignets (3 pieces): this was the best item. It comes with 3 large but very airy beignets with 3 thick sauces: dulce de leche, chocolate, and raspberry. The beignets texture was uniquely spongy and airy delicious! I enjoying dining here for brunch and dinner. Place feels more on the upscale side especially right when you enter at the large front door. Watching the details of the restaurant from your table to glancing the high ceilings gives it a nice vibe. Service is great and they're attentive. Food is delicious but on the pricey side. The only downside was I ordered an espresso martini (Milli Vanilli Espresso Martini) and while it tasted good, it was not how I imagined it to be... no coffee beans or smooth frothy layer at the top but lots of coffee grinds. Another person ordered the same and our espressos just oddly looked different from one another. I'm big on how my drinks taste AND looks so wasn't too pleased about it. Finally got a chance to try breakfast on a Saturday. We were seated right when we walked in at a great window table. The menu is creative and fun. We went there for a birthday, to sum up our experience, the service good but a bit slow, but that is understandable because it was super packed so we didn't mind. As for the food itself, it was a bit expensive for what it was. The food was good but nothing amazing. However, we really do appreciate their birthday celebration for us!! The waitress asked if we wanted to start with beignets and they did not disappoint. They came with 3 sauces: chocolate, raspberry, and dulce de leche. My husband had The Standard and absolutely loved it. We ordered exclusively from the happy hour menu, and everything impressed us. The oysters ($2!!) were phenomenal--small and sweet, just how we like them. We also tried the Millionaire Bacon Bao Buns, which admittedly looked a bit underwhelming at first, but completely delivered on flavor. The Pressroom was a surprising delight that goes against my older, I dare say, more mature tastes and preferences. This restaurant is fresh, hip, and most importantly, fun! In Downtown San Jose and housed in the Lyndon Building, which was built in 1884 and was the original home of the Times-Mercury News back in 1902, the restaurant's decor honors that historic past. The massively high ceilings remind you how large the printing presses were that used to occupy the space. There are images of a bygone era, where the only source of timely information was the newspaper, adorning the walls either in the wallpapers or framed photographs. The food is great but what really impresses is the service. It seems like the staff at the Pressroom are also from that bygone era where hospitality is paramount and service with a smile the bare minimum. Our waitperson was friendly and engaging, with excellent recommendations. The drinks are outstanding and herald the mixologists at the lounge/bar attached to the Pressroom. Overall, this place is 4.5 out of 5. Go there for a fun time, great food, attentive service, wonderful atmosphere, and luscious donations! This fairly new spot has been on my radar for awhile now. Let's start with the aesthetic. It was absolutely gorgeous on the inside. The design was very sleek and aesthetically pleasing. Secondly, the service was amazing. Raag was my server and was extremely knowledgeable with the menu and when I inquired about his recommendations they do not disappoint. I order the recommended roasted mushrooms and wow it was incredible flavorful! The rosemary chicken is the absolute star of the show, I heard it's also on the dinner menu and recently got moved to the lunch menu, and I'm glad it did. If you want a crispy and juicy chicken with side of sauce order this and you will not be disappointed. The short rib sandwich was great as well and the fries were perfectly crispy. There's an outdoor seating area, plenty of seats indoors, and a nice bar for those who like us for the bar seats.
