I made the mistake of doing a walk in the other week because I assumed they had machine spray tans and she was able to squeeze me in for a spray tan last minute before her next appointment which I'm sure was partially luck! Literally walked in a frantic hot mess, suitcase and all before getting on a 6 hour flight and she made me look flawless! Powdered me up so I didn't sweat anything off and the spray tan lasted about 2 weeks and looked amazing for my trip! I was so nervous it was going to smudge on the plane or get messed up in travel but it looked great. She was so nice and helpful and didn't rush me at all, I would go back in a heart beat. My favorite tanning salon in the entire city!! Super updated and high quality sunbeds that are always clean and all of the people who work there are helpful and polite. Prime location in Williamsburg so it's never a hassle to get there. I send all of my friends here too!! I've been coming here for 5+ years and won't go anywhere else. If anyone is complaining about having to pay online for a scheduled appointment, it's really not a big deal. The preliminary payment is to hold your appointment time and you are reimbursed the second you arrive. I've never had a single issue here with anything. I've been to other tanning salons in the past and always had issues with burnt out bulbs and even beds that weren't cleaned properly. I came here for regular tanning. I don't tan very often, I just like to go a few times in winter as I tan easily during summer months or on vacations. They offer many different packages and are not pushy at all. I just noticed they have a spray tan option which I am going to try. I've never tried one but all the reviews for their spray tan have great comments so hopefully I have a similar experience! read more

At which point the lady at the counter said we probably wouldn't be able to tan today because they take their last appointment at 445pm. We explained that we came all the way from LES and have been waiting since 430pm. She said "Yeah, well I don't get paid after 5pm, so .... " I laughed and walked out the door. I moved back to Williamsburg last year and was struggling to find a good place to tan. I came across Urban Tanz one day and decided to check it out. My first time there, Larisa, (who is beyond great!) greeted me and explained all the different types of packages and what she felt would be good for me. She was knowledgable and really sweet. I've been coming here for about 3 months now and won't go anywhere else. Every time I go in for a quick tan I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. The girls there also really like to know their customers and always greet on a first name biases which I think is great because it makes you feel welcomed and honestly, it's what keeps me coming back to Urban Tanz. The salon itself is extremely clean and the atmosphere is super chic and cozy. I defiantly recommend this tanning salon because of the prices, beds, and of course the awesome staff that they have. Moved to Williamsburg in February and being a guy from Miami, I couldn't believe how pale I'd become. Decided to check out Urban Tanz and never ever thought about going to another place. Allison and Laryssa are awesome, polite, and make sure everything is well organized and clean. As a guy, you sometimes expect to be judged for walking into a tanning salon, but they make you feel extremely comfortable. While the most I've ever waited is 10 minutes, they have a lounge/couch area where you can relax until it's your turn. I've never done the spray, but I do believe that you have to schedule an appointment for that. I personally use the Open Sun and have had great results. They offer creams based on the results you are looking to attain and help you select which one you should choose. They also don't recommend the most expensive one to rip you off. Great place, people, and product. As long as I am in Williamsburg, I'll be a regular. read more

Their beds are high quality, the staff keeps it clean and while speaking of- the girls here are the sweetest! So helpful in choosing a bed, as well as lotions or any other little add ons. I have brought my friends before events to get spray tans and they LOVED it! They said it was the best spray tan they've ever gotten. Simply put, this place is the best. After 4 years of living in Williamsburg, I have to admit that Urban Tanz has consistently been very, very good. Not only have they provided me with great tans, but they have remained very affordable. All of their tanning beds have been upgraded and they now provide spray tans as well! I love Alison and Larissa, who are the two girls running the place. I never think of myself as a customer of theirs. They treat me like an old friend and I've noticed that this seems to be the way they treat everyone who walks in. We always share a few laughs and I walk away with lots of positive energy. Really nice spot and cool people They treat their customers like gold and they even gave me a bottle of wine for New Year's.. They save your bottle of tanning lotion so you don't have to bring it along every time. I was a member (tanning package buyer) of this salon since 2014 and remained so even when I moved further South in Brooklyn, but chose not to go back after very poor customer service. I traveled from Crown Heights, arrived at 4:40p on a Sunday, but they were already closed, even though they close at 5pm that day--it was locked, with nobody in there. I emailed them, explaining that I paid $20 in taxi fare and was very disappointed--I suggested a free tan or two to cover my inconvenience and cab fare (I provided a receipt)--explaining that I have been going there for 2+ years, but they didn't care. Someone replied to my email, claiming that customers were still there at 5pm (there were not), they were sorry, and wished me the 'best of luck' finding a new place! This is shocking to me--I have owned several small business in my life and would go to the end-of-the-earth to retain a paying customer. Apparently this is not important to them considering the 'SoHo-ification' of Williamsburg. I wish them the best of luck when the L train shuts down. The staff is very friendly, the girl who I bought the 10 pack and lotion from was very friendly and knowledgeable about what bed and lotion I should use for my skin type. I'm kind of shocked at how crappy an experience I just had with this business was. I don't post negative reviews but this was particularly bad. I had a 5pm appointment and around 3pm received a flash flooding warning amber alert. I called the business and tried to cancel as you can't get a tan when it's that wet out - was told no and I would lose my deposit. Rescheduling was not an option as I am traveling tomorrow (that was the purpose of the tan). After then turning up to the business for my appointment, it was clear it was going to be wayyyy to wet to do a tan. I was completely drenched head to toe and all my clothes were soaked. The business had no dryer and the receptionist seemed inconvenienced to even give me a towel when I requested it. When I again asked for a refund whilst at the premises I was told a flat out no. Are you serious?! I would highly recommend not using this salon - it's just ridiculous how completely unprofessional and inflexible the owner was and how intent they seemed on illegitimately keeping my deposit even for doing absolutely nothing. I hope the $25 of mine you're keeping is worth this review! I certainly won't be doing business with you again or recommending others do so. read more

Firstly I would like to note that this place has the best staff that I could have ever imagined. I am very self conscious and suffer from anxiety; given that makes me extremely shy. The moment I stepped in I felt like I was talking to a friend that cared about the look I was trying to achieve. My fiancé and I were soon to celebrate a very important day in our lives and I wanted to make sure his jaw would drop when he saw me. I decided to get a spray tan at Urban Tanz just to achieve that "what's different about her look?". I came to the right place! The whole experience was super casual and relaxing. The ladies talked me through the whole process and took the time to answer all the questions that I asked. I was looking for a natural and sun-kissed tone and per recommendation of the experienced staff got what I had asked for! Not only did I look great, It smelled great too! with proper care instructions my tan lasted for quite some time. I left feeling confident and happy. I had a great experience for my first visit today! Stopped by after work and the girl at the front was very helpful in explaining the different packages and tanning beds. It was also my first time using a tanning lotion and she recommended a great one for me. I already saw a difference after one 12 min session. Very clean place as well! The operating hours of this place are absurd. Noon to 5 pm on Sunday? Also, sometimes the place is temporarily closed because the staff leaves for some mysterious reason. Moreover, the tanning packages expire if you don't use them fast enough. Finally, they don't accept credit cards, in the 21st century - sounds like a money laundering operation to me. read more

I absolutely love urban tanz. I have to say it's the most effective and efficient tanning means possible. I have been going for over one year now and I love it beyond words. It is the most cleanly tanning salon I have ever been to. The staff are all very helpful and the beds are like one and done (i do use a mix of legacy and bombshell....(bombshell is a tingling lotion ) I say that bc I'm a rare breed that enjoys the tingle. But also I have received over 13 amazing airbrush tans. I wanted it super dark n it's exactly what I got. Rarely do you get exactly what you asked for. Ever. But I will continue to come all winter. Love this place! Would definitely give it a even higher rating if I could. I come here for spray tans, and this is the spot! Since moving to New York I have tried multiple spray tan locations and by far this one is my favorite! Both Laryssa and Allison are great and very accommodating.
