Melanie is by far the best tannist I have experienced in Beach bum and anywhere. I've been coming to BB for a spray tanning since my 2022 wedding and 75% of time it is great which is why I keep coming back ...there really is nothing like an airbrush tan. Unfortunately however for the other 25% of the time the tannists have no idea what they're doing. It's like a hit or miss ....like getting a coffee at Dunkin' Donuts ...you walk right in and you have no idea what you're gonna come out with. Needless to say every tan is not created equal. A lot of this is clearly because managers are not even willing to admit the mistake in order to fix it (such as Paramus location) and are not training correctly. Or worse, enticing employees to be... well.. simply unlikeable. This is not all of them I've been to four locations and most of the time it's good, but it does happen way more than it should happen for the price we pay. However Melanie at Middle Village is perfect. She goes above and beyond to actually care about what she could improve and she really cares about the customers content when they come for a service. As a life coach I have helped hundreds of business succeed and what business needed was employees like Melanie. Melanie is amazing. Hopefully she's getting the recognition pay and respect that she deserves.

Jackie informed me that anything they do would fade considerably by the time my event came around. She said she would ask her boss for a recommendation in California and call me back. Within five minutes, she called me back with the name of a salon in California. They went above and beyond without knowing me. They were honest with me as to what the results would look like if I did it a week ahead of time, even if it meant losing the business. When I do decide to use a tanning salon in New York, this will be the only place I will be calling. This is old school customer service at its best!

I just had an airbrush tan done by Natalia on Friday. It was super easy and quick to set up an…read moreappointment and the entire experience was extremely convenient. Instead of going to a salon and having to break up my entire day just to get a tan, I was able to do whatever I had to do at home prior to Natalia arriving. When Natalia arrived she quickly set up the pop up tent in my living room and my tan was complete within minutes. Natalia then applied baby powder in areas over the tan so that it would not feel sticky afterwards. I can personally say that it did not feel sticky AT ALL and I have experienced this feeling after other tans in the past (done at salons). Having a tan done in the comfort of your own home is amazing!! You do not need to worry about sweating off the tan after leaving a salon and ending up with weird and uneven marks. You can easily put on anything you want afterwards and feel extremely comfortable at home, until you can shower. You also don't need to worry about other weather inconveniences such as rain. The entire experience was great and Natalia was super sweet and personable. Natalia also followed up about my tan the next day and gave me suggestions to obtain the optimal color that I wanted. I had noted that for next time I want to go a shade lighter and Natalia advised me that she keeps a log of the shade she does for each client every time, so that it is easy to refer back to it during your next session. She suggested what I can do to lighten the color of my current tan for this time (this was only a trial, as I did not have a specific event to attend this time) and it worked!

Loved this place while it lasted, but the cancellation process was a mess…read more I emailed ahead of my renewal date to cancel my membership because I was planning to leave the city for a while. They acknowledged my request and said it wouldn't be a problem -- but I still got charged on the renewal date. That was frustrating, but I figured it could be resolved with a refund. The owner responded and said they'd issue one, but after that... nothing. It's been over a month with no follow-up or action, despite multiple attempts to follow up. I still haven't received my refund to this very moment.
