I like the food here and it is pretty fast, the selection is not large, but what they have is very taster! And I do like the lemonade.

After looking at the menu I just had to stop and pick something at random because they use same ingredients for a lot of their dishes and I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over. I lost interest and randomly picked the ahi tuna salad. We ordered for pick up. When I sat down to eat the wedge of bread they include was still warm. It was delicious. The salad was neat and looked delicious. Overall the salad and dressing was very tasty. When I first opened it I looked kind of small like a small amount of salad in a large salad bowl but it was filling. This alone is indicative of a business that will have a successful future here in Bakersfield. Second, their amazing soda machine. You won't find Pepsi and Coca-Cola here. Oh no. Instead you'll find an assortment of delicious teas and craft soda's to satisfy your thirst. As a die-hard Diet Dr. Pepper fan, I can easily say I did not miss my usual drink. Instead I was mixing up teas like a mad scientist. Crafting my own cocktail of sorts. I recommend you do the same! My favorite - an equal blend of all their fruit teas. Delightful! I am extremely impressed with the quality of food Urbane Cafe serves. I have had their cilantro chicken salad which was yum! But it's all about their Ahi Tuna Salad! Their dressing is to die for! Went here for the first time with some friends at lunchtime on a Saturday. There were not any big crowds. The menu was big and on the wall. I could read it easily. I ordered a steak sandwich. It was great. I did add a bit a salt to it. Glad that salt packets were readily available. Promise not to laugh? I just wanted water so they gave me a water cup. I went to the soda machine and filled the cup with ice. Then I put the cup under the Water spout and pushed the leaver. I heard a shwooshing sound, but no water. I did this several times. Finally I explained to one of the staff members that the machine was out of water (laughing as I type this). They came over and pushed the leaver in much further than I had and water came pouring out. Problem solved. Just had to get this idiot (me) to push a little harder. Water was great. read more

Very open with many windows, patio seating, and bar height tables. I've gotten the ahi salad at least a million times from there. It's a great size with lots of color and a dynamic flavor compound. The salad comes with bread that's made fresh inside. Good portion and it makes me feel healthy because, well.. I'm eating a salad. Its not very often you find a restaurant that has good tasting, quality food and outstanding customer service. I love this place! I have visited multiple times and every time I do they never let me down. The manager Staci, is extremely hard working and cares that you receive quality service and product for your money. As a school director I have also taken my students on a field trip here. What an amazing experience!The children loved everything about it and felt welcomed not like they were in the way. Not 2 weeks after an amazing event at Urbane Cafe, here I was again! Made the drive east! A friend wanted to meet here for lunch and I was not going to say no! I love it here! Lots of parking in the lot and in we went into the bright, open space that smelled amazing. I went for the ahi salad this time. GREAT choice. The salad is a pretty good size with their homemade foccacia bread (soft and seasoned!) Friendly staff served us with smiles and we were given our buzzers. We did not wait long at all for 3 meals (1 Peruvian sandwich to go which was later really enjoyed by hubby) My friend got a Veggie sandwich and enjoyed it. I ate my whole meal and that just never happens. I could not stop eating. My eyes were eating too as the plate was so colorful and the ahi was visually perfect. Cool in temperature and not overcooked. It was busy enough in the restaurant and the staff were on top of it. We grabbed a seat, enjoyed our food and never felt rushed out. We just had water but I can tell you that all lemonades here are amazing. Especially the Mango. I really like the fact that they offer fresh lemon for your water cup. And that you do not have to even ask/beg for a water cup. They are by the drinks on the side. Lastly - those darn cookies. Shared a lemon one and MY LORD - those are delicious. I recommend the lemon and the cranberry/white chocolate. Main things to know: 1 - the food is healthy, fresh and delicious. C'mon, they bake their own bread on site! 2 - if on a time crunch for work, you should be good. So, we stopped in last night (did I forget to check in on Yelp?) and were excited (like everyone else on the east side) about a new eatery. I had read the reviews on Yelp and was intrigued... Almost all of the reviews were positive, citing the food/menu. And... The grub was good. The place was fairly clean (micro trash here and there on the floor and tables but no crime scene tape or anything). The staff were polite as expected. But there was no "wow". I had opted for the chicken "So-Cal" sammich and my S.O. had the cranberry turkey sammich. The Chicken was good and as mentioned in other reviews has a bit of an after bite that was a pleasant surprise. When asked about the turkey sammich, she told me it was good but not worth writing home about... So for a cost of about $25 we got two sammiches (with side salad) and a couple of drinks. I would say that the cost vs value was not that impressive. So, while I definitely agree with everyone else that this joint is a nice change on the east side that isn't typical fast food, it isn't quite a five star joint. We stopped by today and picked up a Keto Cobb Salad and the So Cal sandwich for my husband. The salad was big enough for two people. The So-Cal chicken sandwich was very good, but I snagged a bite of my sons chim churri steak sandwich and I definately want to order that when i go back. 2 sandwiches, a drink, a bag of chips and a cookie was $27 and some change. I had the club sandwich and my boyfriend had the tri tip. He didn't care for his sandwich at all or the salad that came with it. The tri tip sandwich had a sweet sauce taste to it. I enjoyed the club sandwich. The salad I took a few bites the dressing tasted good from what barely I could taste. There definitely isn't enough dressing on the salad. We had a watermelon mint lemonade which was ok. I went here for the first time this weekend for lunch and will be returning for sure. The food was very good, I had the Santa Maria BBQ and it was delicious. The chicken was nice and juicy and the bread was delicious. My wife had the Mediterranean 5 Grain Bowl and she really enjoyed it. She said the cilantro was a little overpowering and will get it without it in the future but she enjoyed it a lot otherwise. The missing stars are just for service. I got our order to go and drove home which is on the other side of town, it takes about 17 minutes. The receipt clearly had the Grain Bowl rang up as vegetarian but when we opened it up it had chicken all over it. She's a vegetarian so we had to take it back which was another 17 minute drive. The staff was polite and very apologetic about it they replaced her bowl and my sandwich since it was going to get cold while we returned hers. There was a small fumble again as I had requested no apple slaw on my sandwich and they put it on the 2nd sandwich but the staff caught it as she was boxing it up and fixed it. Overall a good experience with a couple stumbles that they did their best to correct and somewhere we'll be coming back to I just hope it's a little smoother next time and I'll be sure to check everything there before leaving if it's another to go order. But if they get a little smoother with the orders and don't make mistakes like putting chicken on a veggie bowl I'd happily add some more stars, I hope to upgrade the review and add some stars after our next visit. read more

I thought it'd be packed because of "Love Your Neighbor Night" and with their golden ticket you get a free sandwich or salad. Here is my take on Urbane Cafe. 1. Entrance You are greeted with a soft lighting that isn't too bright with music that is loud enough to hear but not over bearing. I enjoyed the level that all noise (including from the kitchen which is open and right in the middle) and had no issues with listening to music or having a conversation. I was greeted by a young woman who was nice and assisted me with the menu. 2. Presentation My order roughly took roughly 8 minutes to prepare, nothing out of the ordinary. You will see in the pictures that the plating is wonderful and was a pleasant surprise. I also did not know it came with a salad (more on that as well) which was very nice as well. 3. Taste Now I ordered the Californian which consists of: Artichoke hearts, Avocado, sun dried tomatoes, Mushrooms, Jack cheese, green leaf lettuce, and herb aioli. This sandwich was beyond what I thought it would be. Great flavor from the aioli and just a nice earthy feel and undertone to the whole thing. It makes you want to keep eating it as it's so inviting. The salad was a mandarin orange thing (I don't know the name haha) and was just ok. It was a bit under dressed as the bitterness from the leaves themselves were a little too present. My only real complaint of the sandwich itself was that it lacked contrast. Artichokes, tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado, and cheese are all very soft by nature; the lettuce was the only thing that made it not a completely soft bite, but was pretty close. After all that, do I recommend this place? Absolutely. They know how to make a good sandwich that shines with great flavor and limitless potential to what you can add to it. If you go for The Californian, ask for extra lettuce. You'll thank me later. read more

So so glad the east side is moving on up! I worked near this location for 10 years. All we had to eat was the regular fast food joints and one too many Mexican food restaurants. They put a bunch of good stuff (Asia greens, avocado, feta cheese, edamame, cucumbers, red radish, tomatoes, and sesame seeds) with a nice piece off bread on top. The interesting options they provide on each sandwich/salad is different than other sandwich shops. The bread is made in front you and is really good. My bf and me got the soup and sandwich. My bf likes spicy food so he asked if a jalapeño could be added to the cilantro chicken sandwich. The cashier was unsure about how he wanted it but the manager stepped in and said he'd do it.
