We both ordered bowls. Mine had rice, double chicken, nopales, grilled onions, and pico de gallo. It was so fresh and satisfying with the perfect amount of flavor. My friend built a bowl with Mexican rice, steak, black beans, lettuce, grilled onions, avocado, and sour cream and I have to admit, I tried a bite and it was just as tasty! When we first started going to VMG, it was absolutely amazing. Totally! We kept going back, and the last few times - well, let's say it was less than amazing. Wonder why? It started to seem like it was "hit and miss" and by that I mean that it all depends on whom you are TRYING to interact and COMMUNICATE with behind the glass...the line crew. Most of them, NOT ALL, seem to have a gigantic CHIP on their shoulder about the size of the Grand Canyon, if not bigger. Or wait, is it because listening has become a lost art? That's a pretty loud statement, but honestly, when you ask for "veggies" and you get whatever they give you, that signals volumes that they (the line crew) do not want to listen. If so, why is that...when it is the customer that is paying their salaries so they can have a job? Does that really make any sense at all? These 20ish or so individuals also seem to not want to work by not acknowledging their customers...Hey, maybe they should find another job or just not work at all and submerse themselves in their cell phones that don't require human interaction whatsoever? Maybe that's it! Has this newer 'generation' even had to deal with the realities of life or acknowledge another human being that has white or gray hair that is not chemically treated? Guess they think they'll never get old. My dear departed mother always used to say "If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing it right!" And, of course, Momma is ALWAYS right. So, in summary, SADLY, the Mt. Vernon location has been "hit and miss" recently. Go there if you don't mind getting what they want to give you. After careful consideration, I have decided to return to this location as it's the closest to my home. Over the summer, my daughter & I spent almost every lunch here. The manager who works during lunch & dinner (a guy, I can't remember his name) is ALWAYS helpful & kind. I appreciate receiving wonderful customer service from a restaurant that I love. I will go to Victor's more than any other restaurant in town; no joke. This is my favorite. Manager refused to correct order spent plenty of money at this spot but I think I'm going to keep my money for myself instead. Ordered a long time ago on uber eats and he acted like the order barely came in too acting all confused. On Uber Eats it said nothing about ranchero sauce being an option. I didn't want my food being slathered with random sauces. Anyways good for him for refusing a customer that's feeling under the weather and sick just wanted my order the way I like it. My husband and I used to really love Victor's Mexican grill until this unfortunate accident happened. I understand accidents do happen but when we called to make it right they seemed very hesitant about it. After the initial skepticism of whether the staple was in the food or not, they offered us a $25 gift card. We ordered $40+ worth of food and explained that on one was comfortable fishing their food because of the staple, yet they still insisted all they could do to make it right was a $25 gift card. I have been eating at victors since they opened their first location. If you have never been , think chipotle themed but with much better flavor and slightly more expensive. When you consider the better flavor I say it's worth it. I love their chicken breakfast burritos, chicken burrito and nachos ( nachos can feed 2 people) the staff is friendly every single time I visit. I enjoy reading their quote of the day as well. They always have some sort of special item for the day displayed and they also have a "ghost" menu. Whatever you get make sure to add a side of the ranchera on the side and top it off with cilantro sauce. It goes well on everything! Great place if you're on the east side of town and want something fresh and quick. I wouldn't say this place is better than their other location on Calloway, but again if you're looking for something a little more on the fresh side, you can't beat Victors. I had the shrimp tacos, with all three levels of their salsa. The wife had their asada tacos and my son had their steak salad. Everyone was happy with their selection. Then overall cleanliness of the restaurant was decent. The tables didn't feel clean but they just had that feeling of being cleaned with a dirty rag. Victor's for the win with the Veggie Burrito! I usually visit the location off of Brimhall, but I just so happened to be on the East Side. This Location is much slower and the line is never long, which is quite nice. The food is always good and the staff actually seems like they like their jobs, which is refreshing to see. BUT, I will say that the Jamaica & the Horchata at this Location isn't good like the Brimhall Location, that's the only downside. Shout out to Brandy with the Bomb lashes who helped me at the counter when I was ready to pay for my order. I hope I spelled her name right! Down the street from Chipotle and we usually still opt to eat here. One of the few small places that you can place online orders to. Their online ordering process is really easy and they have never gotten anything wrong. When ordering a different meal for 7 different people (some more pickier than others) thats no small feat. I usually get a wet burrito and their red sauce is amazing. Fresh veggies, their nopales are perfect. We've never tasted a bad thing here. Their employees are always very patient and polite.
