HUGE FAN. I was introduced to this place from a Yelp Elite event and I haven't been able to keep myself away ever since! First of all, the staff are INCREDIBLE! The girl who greeted me at the front register was SO incredibly sweet and helpful. I'm a very indecisive person and she was so patient and helpful with guiding me through my ordering process. We didn't wait more than 5-10 minutes to get our food which I'm perfectly fine with waiting because I always get their FRESHLY BAKED chocolate chip cookies while waiting for my order to arrive. You haven't LIVED until you've eaten one of their chocolate chip cookies. I always get the Cilantro Chicken Salad. The chicken is always so moist and the cilantro flavor is perfectly subtle (not too overpowering like cilantro normally is). The salad dressing is delicious and perfectly compliments the salad. All salads come with a side of their delicious, fresh baked focaccia bread. My BF always gets their sandwiches and have loved every single one! Hmmm... weirdly enough I for some reason thought that this place had something to do with Urban Plates but I mean you add an "e" to the end of the first word and boom something different. Anywhooo... I actually kinda liked the concept of this place but I feel like it needs more options? I mean I like the easy going boujee sandwich and soup thing with the craft sodas and drinks. Like it's a pretty great concept because it works in a place like Leucadia/Encinitas, wherever that weird line is drawn. My friend took me here for lunch and I ended up paying for the both of us cuz I'm nice I guess, I don't know. But I mean 2 sandwiches, that came with salads, a side of chips and 2 drinks for $26 including tip? Not too bad I'd say but I mean there are cheaper places obviously. I got the turkey club with chipotle aioli instead of whatever else comes on it and it was actually pretty good. I mean there wasn't too much texture variation going on so I had to throw some chips in that puppy and ultimately it was better. What separates this place from any other sandwich and salad place? Well, for one thing, their brick oven! They make their focaccia bread in house and you can definitely smell it when you walk in. The brick oven is very intimating, in a good way, we were so drawn to it and my kids couldn't keep their eyes off of it. Of course, their homemade cookies were also another draw, they put it out right in front of us and is served so soft and warm! I told my kids they can have some once they eat their sandwich and salad. All their sandwiches are great, my kids got the grilled cheese, it comes with the option of fruit, salad or chips, so i got them the salad, which they love. I got the lemon cookie and the white chocolate cranberry cookie and both were delicious and melted in your mouth! I loved their lemonades and the craft soda options they had. Soooooo this is my first time at this location. My wife and I were riding the Harley down the coast and headed inland to come eat here. We walk in, looked at the menu made our decision and then we waited and waited some more. No one was at the counter to take our order and there was 2 workers making food at the near by counter. I don't like to make a big deal but I thought it was a little weird it took so long and nothing was said to us at all until the finally came to take our order. You guys should work on that Urbane Cafe! Most places at least say "we will be right with you". Anyways let's get to the food. I ordered the Cilantro Chicken Torta - Roasted cilantro chicken, smashed avocado, corn & black bean salsa, pepper jack cheese, pickled Fresno chili's, pickled onions, chipotle aioli, with smokey tomatillo salsa on the side. The sandwich was pretty good. My wife had the Cafe Salad - Roasted Chicken, Mixed Greens, Avocado, Pears, Pecans, California Goat Cheese with Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing. The salad looked loaded and she said it was really good. So I'll roll with that. The food was good and flavorful. Not too much and not too little. You can eat here and feel good about it as a light meal with pretty much the whole menu. I consider Urbane Cafe more on the healthy side compared to restaurants I normally eat at, just my opinion. I've never had a bad sandwich or salad. The restaurant looked modern and clean in the dinning area. Now the other issue was the bathroom. Well I didn't have to use the restroom but soda runs trough my wife like a running faucet so of course she will use it and tell me all about the facilities when she gets back. That pretty much dominated the conversation during our meal which means they did not do a good job of keeping it clean and stocked up. Thanks Urbane Cafe, just what I wanted to talk about while eating my sandwich. Maybe they were short staffed and maybe not. Either way in this area I think the expectations of being cleaner were not met. It's not a dive bar or hole in the wall. To finish this review I would say I am happy with the quality and taste of the food but the service and facilities could be a little better. I will come back as I was just having a kicked back day out and not in any kind of rush. Also I'm hoping the restroom condition was just a fluke. I have the lovely advantage of working across the street from the Mira Mesa location and looked forward to bringing my boyfriend for a good dinner since he was a first timer. We ordered two sandwiches, a salad, two cookies, and one soda. All for a little over $30. The Californian sandwich! Can't go wrong with artichokes and sundried tomato. The avocado gave it such creaminess to it and I actually liked the piece of lettuce there. I would order it again. Tuscan sandwich! My boyfriend preferred this one. The mixed vegetables in it fits perfectly for this bread to hold. My favorite part is the fresh mozzarella. Seasonal Quinoa & Corn salad! This is my favorite salad. I friggin love red quinoa so thank you UC for including it with the white quinoa. My boyfriend thinks if it had queso fresco instead of goat cheese, it'd make more sense with the other ingredients. I love goat cheese so I ain't complaining. Side salad! Judging on its own, you just can't be mad at well dressed greens. Whatever dressing UC uses is the best way to eat your side of greens. Plus little mandarin orange wedges on top, my fave. Drink! They have the craft soda and a really good pomegranate rosemary lemonade. Cookies! This is basically Panera but slightly better. So if you're into Panera and think it's a great place then you'll probably like it here. I had a cobb salad and a turkey club sandwich on my recent visit, and both were decent but really it just reminded me of Panera. The focaccia is the only bread option for the sandwiches which wouldn't be a big deal but it's not the best here, there's no herbaceousness to the focaccia and it's not a very fluffy bread. Wish they offered other breads because it just didn't do it for me. Salad was ok too, but again not really anything special, I just kept thinking they copied Panera but made it slightly better, and Panera sucks so glad it's at least better and not worse. read more

I dropped by for a Yelp Elite event and I was not disappointed. Located in a plaza near the Forum, this new Urbane Cafe is great! There's a lot of parking. The food is fresh and healthy. The staff is friendly. I have nothing to complain about! We ordered the Turkey Brie sandwich and the SoCal sandwich. I personally liked the SoCal sandwich more but both were great. Both were lacking just a tiny bit of seasoning but were good nonetheless. You can see the staff freshly making the bread and you can taste how soft and homemade it is. The side salads are fresh and compliment the sandwich perfectly. We ordered a bowl of Baja Enchilada soup and it was so delicious! As for drinks, they have a wide selection of bottled drinks, fountain soda, and lemonades that they make. Overall, I would definitely stop by again for food and portions worth it's price. Came here for lunch on a weekday around 12:30 and it was really busy from the Yelp Event going on but there were also a good amount of people just eating there as well. I ordered the SoCal chicken sandwich and got the seasonal white chocolate lemon cookie. The SoCal sandwich is served on their Focaccia bread which is made in-house every 30mins or so. It comes with chicken breast, lettuce, pepper jack cheese, chipotle aoili, and tomatillo salsa. The sauces/spreads did have a little kick of spiciness to them, which I really enjoyed. The sandwich was pretty good, but I felt like the ratio of sauce to chicken to veggies was off though. A lot of bites were just spread and bread and there was not nearly enough lettuce so it felt more like a heavy sandwich rather than fresh. The side salad helped balance it out though. The white chocolate lemon cookie was recommended to me by the cashier and he gave it to me as soon as I was done ordering. It was piping hot and fresh! It was baked perfectly and had a good lemon zest to it. Overall, the food was pretty good and the service was excellent. Sooo...it's late on a Monday and we (my boss and I) just finished installing furniture for a condo we just remodeled for our clients. We've already put in 13hrs and still had another 2hrs to go. I used to work in Mira Mesa and would frequent that location for a work week lunch spot, but now I'm up in Carlsbad and the Encinitas location is the closest option. I came into Urbane Cafe for the Yelp event (totally for to check in) and I was impressed. The sandwich I ordered was delicious!!! The lady taking my order was so kind and she helped me by giving her suggestion of what Sandwich I should get, as I was stuck between two; their seasonal Mojo Chicken and the Bahn Mi Chicken. She suggested the Mojo Chicken and the Mojo Chicken is what I ordered. While waiting for my lunch, I filled up my drink cup with half tea and half of their blueberry basil lemonade. SO GOOD!!!! When I left, I filled up on half tea, half Mango lemonade! Just as good as the blueberry basil. When I received my sandwich, I was so excited to dig in. The cheese was ooey gooey and the veggies on my sandwich were grilled to perfection. The chicken was nice and juicy and the sauces on that sandwich were AMAZING!!!! I did not eat much of the salad, as I am not an arugula fan, but my problem, not there's. I will most definitely go for a cup of soup next time, as I am a soup lover and would love to try one of their soups of the day. Luckily the sandwich came with a bag of chips that left me more than satisfied! The staff was amazing, so kind and offered up any help when needed! Overall, I had a great experience and will be back. I can't usually have bahn mi sandwiches because the bread is often too hard for me to eat but when they said that it was made with their fresh oven-fired focaccia, I was instantly sold on what exactly to order! That aioli sauce has a deliciously spicy kick that is to die for! That salad was tart and sweet! The double chocolate cookie is soft, fresh, and warm!
