Lunch date after a movie today and used our gift card. Not crowded at all either and cool music played. My sweety ordered the Cilantro Torta and he says it was delicious. I had the Tofu Banh Mi. I've had this sandwich before and the bread was too salty. Happy that they've rectified that. The tofu is listed as grilled but with just a hint of tan on the edges, it's not really grilled. The portion is generous though. The salad was fresh and had the perfect amount of dressing. The black cherry soda was absolutely perfect! I'll come back for certain! read more

Absolutely one of my favorite places to eat in town! The service is always great. The management seems to care a lot about their staff being well trained. My all time fave thing to get is the Santa Maria BBQ salad. It's insane! Just the right amount of spice. It's honestly very filling and very fresh. My mother called to order and ordered their cilantro torta chicken sandwich with aioli on the side and the club turkey sandwich with aioli on the side. The worker was kind and said it would be ready in 20 minutes. We went to get it. Very nice, newer restaurant! Great music playing. It's safe and clean! Masks worn by workers and required. The worker was nice. The order was ready and handed over. Next day and up for lunch is the cilantro torta chicken sandwich! Omg! Another star earned! Really fresh and delicious! Dipped in the side sauce made it even better! Plus, the salad it comes with is fresh and really tasty with the dressing that comes on the side! Impressed! This is my favorite sandwich place in Visalia, and although the bread makes it, each sandwich is crafted well. My go-to is the Club sandwich. With the doughy bread, cheese and bacon, it's both savory and treat-like. Not to mention it's high protein with over 50 grams of protein for 750 calories. I feel as satisfied eating it as I do pizza, but I'm not left with the guilt trip of 3 days worth of calories. The staff here are always so friendly and on point too. The menu looks great but the actual food does not deliver. We ordered several dishes and they were too salty and the flavors did not jive. The banh mi sandwich was just a bunch of ingredients out together but did not blend in well together--a good banh mi is tasting all the flavors together and this one all I could taste was the bread. My kid could not even eat the grilled cheese, their bread again made it impossible to taste anything else--though this dish was literally bread and cheddar like nothing else to elevate the flavors. Yummy!! I didn't know that I was about to sit down to the best meal I have eaten out in a while! The Ahi poke salad with citrus vinaigrette was delicious, wholesome and filling. Their kids pizza and grilled cheese are another level of awesomeness! Kids loved them! Try a sandwich with a lettuce wrap and you will take in all the flavor without the guilt! My wife and i were having one of those days where you've just about had every type of food that's offered in town, you've already hit your favorite spots for the week and you've just about given up on what you're going to eat for brunch. She was looking for a location on DoorDash that offered up good salads. It's funny how in this town "Visalia" you can rarely find a restaurant that even offers salad for delivery, how is that? So she started to look at the Urban Cafes menu and was instantly drawn towards the Cilantro Chicken Salad or the BBQ Chicken Salad. She went with the former and the Cilantro Chicken emerged the winner. I was contemplating on ordering from another establishment before stumbling onto their Chimichurri Steak Sandwich. It sounded appetizing, minus the arugula and the feta; I'm not a fan of either of those. So I substituted the feta for pepper jack and took out the arugula; boy did i come to realize those items made the sandwich a lot more fuller than what it is! My wife noticed they sold a loaf of focaccia with a side of Balsamic to dip it in; BEST THING TO GET HERE! We also wanted to try the "in house" made lemonades, one original and one mango, plus we had to get something sweet, so two chocolate chip cookies to finish off our order. FOOD: I started out with the chocolate chip cookie because I wanted to eat my dessert first this time around. I couldn't say no to that warm cookie staring back at me from its well designed packaging; I'm glad i did! It was fantastic! Soft, chewy and melty chocolate chips oozing from the center of the cookie. It was slowly falling apart in my mouth as i bit into it while also giving a nice pull you would want from a soft and warm cookie. The old fashioned lemonade was just "eh". I had to wash down the cookie so taking my first sip I was expecting something tart yet a nice sweetness to pair with my cookie; i was wrong. It was all tart and no sweetness whatsoever. Make sure to use a straw and stir with this one! Once i used my straw I thought the flavor profile would change; it did.. slightly. Still mostly tart but now with a hint of sweetness towards the very end. Would not go back for lemonade here again. My wife got the Mango version and although she said she couldn't taste the Mango flavoring in it, in her opinion it was "nice and refreshing." So opinions will vary. The Focaccia loaf and the Balsamic.. GO OUT AND GET IT! I would genuinely just get that for my main course if i had to eat here again. It was the cheapest thing on the menu and the most flavorful! Soft, buttery bread with the right amount of bite and texture, paired with the balsamic and the wife and i were both in pure bliss! The flavor brings this umami nirvana to your tastebuds you'll want to keep revisiting over and over. Get the bread, you'll love it! The Chimichurri steak sandwich was such a let down! The pictures on the website paint this beautiful looking sandwich you're surprised to find in our small town. Well after having it, it fits right in! No flavor in the meat; even with the aioli. Yes granted, i substituted the cheese and took out the arugula because I'm not a fan of either feta nor arugula, but to get this!? This flavorless, tasteless and short on meat sandwich for around 13 dollars! This was a pure disgrace! The bread was the best part of the sandwich; i never thought i would say that! Especially it being a steak sandwich! NEVER AGAIN! The Cilantro Chicken Salad is lacking the one thing in its namesake; "Cilantro" flavoring. My wife says that the overall salad was good, the chicken had a nice flavor, the salad as a "whole" is fine. It's just the dressing that's really taking it down. She understands that it being a Cilantro Vinaigrette it would be a little oily, but it tasted like straight oil being dumped on her salad. If she had some lemon to give a little zest and some flavor then it probably would've balanced it out, but theirs really no saving a dressing when its too oily. Will she order it again? She said she would. But she would make sure to ask for another dressing on the side or at least see if they have some lemon to give on the side. Final Thoughts: For it being our first time, it was definitely hit and miss. My wife seemed to enjoy it more so than i, i just can't be a fan of yours when I'm paying that much for a sandwich and have it look and taste like the way it did. When your chips had more flavor than your sandwich: you've got problems. They got our order and completed pretty fast, so that's a nice thing. The bread was very enjoyable and a must try for all! But i personally wouldn't suggest eating here if you're looking for something other than a salad or a form of a healthy alternative. Update: Thank You to Caprice from Urbane Cafe for reaching out! So my first time and experience here was not what I was really expecting. First off, the staff is helpful, the menu/interior is great, & lastly I like the beverage station options. Overall: I ordered the tofu banh mi and I knew this wasn't going to be a true banh mi sandwich but it peaked my interest to consume. The tofu is beyond salty & unbearable to consume actually. I don't know if it was the sauce or just the tofu seasoning, but I just ate the bread and threw the tofu away. I would like to come back and try it again because I don't know if I came on a day somebody made the tofu wrong or what but for now I don't think I'll come back to this location. I'm willing to give this place another chance & hope the other locations tofu banh mi taste better. read more

YUM! New spot here in Visalia, Ca that has really sparked some LA vibes down Mooney Blvd. They did not disappoint in the build, outdoor seating, shade spaces, and or food! Would totally recommend trying something out of your normal sandwich collection since Urbane not only uses quality meats, and veggies, but they make their own bread! You would be missing out otherwise. I grabbed the Pesto and Sundried Tomato and a small salad. We have a family of 5 and spent less than 60.00 (that's a deal!!). The green side salad dressed lightly with a tasty light vinaigrette, was outstanding. Love Urbane Cafe! Went twice in three days for dinner. Got the Mediterranean Bowl and added Salmon first dinner; got the Salmon Salad the second time. Both were very good. I really liked the dressing on the Salmon Salad. They have Batch Craft Soda options at the soda fountain; I like that, but wish they had a cream soda and a cherry cola (they have a black cherry, but not cola). Their bread is fantastic! If you haven't tried urbane cafe then you are missing out. We've been coming here since they opened and always leaving content. This place has a cute decor and it's designed to have a little more privacy then other places. My favorite is the Bella portabella:D It's always so fresh and the service is a plus. The only thing is that a cookie is way to pricey. I didn't realize it until I saw the price. It does get a big busy so try to have some patience and enjoy the AC:D read more
