I drive by Urbane Cafe just about every day. Decided to try this place out. I was expecting "cafe" type of food, and I have to admit, I was disappointed when the menu had sandwiches, soups, and salads. The sandwiches were spot on. Maybe because the focaccia bread was made fresh-on site. And each sandwich came with a side salad with balsamic vinegar house dressing. I guess if you're going to have a limited menu, the food better be good. My sandwiches were pretty high quality. And the service was excellent. Expedient but not rushed. read more

A little background I am 68 years old and back in the 80s and 90s I owned 33 large Gas Stations with super Convenience Stores. 1. the most important lessons I learned that a loyal customer is cost affective to maintain. 2. an unhappy customer may take from 3 months to 6 months to step in again and give the establishment a chance. To bring in a repeat customer budget in Advertisements is very expensive and large. I think when a customer shows up 7 minutes before the official opening (especially if he an elderly Senior) it would be appropriate to open the door and explain that it would take a few minutes to reboot the systems. I was craving something fresh and gluten-free so I ordered the salmon brown rice bowl. I liked the sweet potatoes. The salmon was ok.

Fresh. Very tasty. Good seasoning. Can't complain about anything. First time I tried their sandwich was at a work celebration. Sandwich platter had great selection. I was really happy it had a vegetarian option. Later, I ordered delivery. Grilled cheese sandwich was wonderful, not just the blah selection you usually find. Then the grilled portobello...wonderful. My favorite is still the The Californian, which has artichoke hearts, avocado, sun-dried, tomatoes, mozzarella and herb aïoli. Excellent. I tried the tofu bánh mì, and found it tasty, however, I did not care for the rubbery texture of the tofu. It may have been grilled, but they have a little work to do on the texture. I will continue to take out from time to time. They prepare the food in a timely manner. So far the lettuce and vegetables have been very fresh, no wilting or brown spots, which can turn me off to a sandwich and restaurant almost instantly. Now, just because I'm a vegetarian doesn't mean I can't appreciate the look of the meat and sandwiches or meals. A few times I was with friends who raved about the club sandwich southwest, and Mediterranean chicken. Particular interest was given to the pesto and sun-dried tomato sandwich. I ordered the Santa Maria chicken salad with no cheese. It was absolutely delicious! I ordered it with extra bean and corn salsa and chipotle ranch. The ranch was a little spicy, but just the perfect amount! Overall, it was great and I will definitely order it again. This place is my go to for salads. The cilantro chicken is my favorite. I have also tried some of the Sandwiches. Also I have to mention that not only is staff friendly, BUT CLEAN, CLEAN restaurant. First time ordering from here as a recommendation from a coworker. I was a little skeptical at first because it seemed a bit pricy for a salad. I was looking for somewhere new to have lunch so I popped into the Urbane Cafe. I ordered the Californian, a vegetarian sandwich. As I waited for my sandwich, I went to the fountain drink area, they had an assortment of "craft sodas" so I sampled a couple, they were actually quite delightful. I got my sandwich and it looked great. I took a bite and it was like love at first bite, just what I was looking for. Artichoke hearts, avocado go great together.
