My only complaint, and it's a big one, is that they had nowhere on the website to cancel your subscription. You have to call to cancel. I own an online subscription service and I would NEVER make it difficult to unsubscribe and those that do make it more difficult for the rest of us who own subscription services. Three times everything went like clockwork, but on Valentines Day...things went sideways. UrbanStems overreached their abilities to deliver as promised as they exceeded what orders they could handle. Not so fast my friends...UrbanStems reached out with candor and monetary consideration to make that situation, which on that type of day could be an emotional minefield, better that right. They delivered flowers, albeit quite late that night, and refunded the total cost! Yes, you read correctly. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my experience with UrbanStems. I ordered flowers 3 days early to be delivered to my friend on the 14th. The order form said they were to be delivered by 6pm, but I requested a tad bit earlier since she leaves work at 5. I got an email saying that they were delivered between 5-6. Which, fine, I understand that not all these requests can be accommodated, so I assumed they'd be there for her the next morning. They were not. I called the building and they said they never received them. I then called UrbanStems, who said they were reaching out to FedEx, but in the end, they didn't have any answers for me. I just want to start off by saying UrbanStems is NOT a local DC company. They are an eCommerce company and they do a good job of hiding that fact. On their website they claim they cut out the middlemen to pass savings onto customers. Huh!? Unless they're a giant flower farm, they ARE the middlemen. But their website is so vague in how they operate, I guess they can say whatever they want #alternativefacts. Also, their delivery area in the DC area is huge so it now makes sense to me why they're unable to deliver on time on Valentine's Day. Which brings me to my gripe: UrbanStems gives you a four hour window for flowers delivery, yes, like Comcast... And like horrible cable companies, they missed that window without offering a reason. I called them multiple times (no answer) and emailed them (auto response saying "oh it's Valentine's Day so we're super busy but we'll try to get back to you!" ) Meanwhile, their website was updated to say they're still taking orders (till 3pm). How about you deliver the ones that have been reserved before you take on new orders? Or just stop taking new orders because your company is clearly overwhelmed. I mean, who knew Valentine's Day would be so busy for them? Now maybe they're more reliable on quiet days. I wouldn't know since I've never used them before (shame on me for choosing an internet company over a brick and mortar store). But if you want to make sure your loved ones get flowers on time, I'd first look elsewhere. Unless this faceless corporation goes out of the way to make up for their horrible customer service, I'll never use them again and advise other people the same. Their failure to deliver flowers today on Valentine's Day was very unacceptable and unprofessional. I haven't seen my fiance in almost 2 months so I wanted to brighten up her busy workday with some flowers since she was also working two shifts (10-12hrs) at a restaurant. I currently live on the west coast so a flower delivery service was my only option. The night before the big day, they offered me two delivery time windows 1-5pm & 5-10pm from which I chose 1-5pm. At 6pm I call the restaurant to see if the flowers had been delivered yet, nope. At 8:30pm (3.5 hrs after my time window had expired) I get an email stating that they couldn't deliver the flowers during the recipient's business hours. Her restaurant is opened from 6am to 12am (midnight) so they obviously lied and tried to put some of the blame on our end. What happened to their 5-10pm delivery window, couldn't they deliver it then? I would have wanted an earlier time but that would have been better than nothing. Also, keep in mind that they NEVER answer their phone so that was not an option. There's more, the only thing they offered me was a re-delivery for the next day or later in the week. Really? It's a little embarrassing to get your flowers delivered the next day at a workplace. No offer of a refund was stated, just a ridiculous next day delivery offer. Currently I have requested and awaiting a refund. As a manager or owner of the company, I would have gone out, bought flowers and delivered it myself to keep my customer happy and coming back for business. I would like to post a picture of the plant I ordered for a friend last Wednesday. It was supposed to be delivered today. Instead, I received an email saying that the order was "not completed properly," that it went to the wrong distribution center, but that they would have the same plant to my friend tomorrow. I placed four orders within a three week time period and three out of the four orders were unacceptable.Three out of the four orders were delivered late with flowers that were wilted. The bouquets received were poor in terms of the quality of the stems and the condition they arrived in. UrbanStems has been my go-to for flower deliveries, until this past Mother's Day. Firstly, my mother got her flowers May 6th instead of actual Mother's Day. Now onto the real issue -- my stepmother lost her son, my brother, two years ago and my family and I chose a $160 bouquet to help her ease her pain on a normally joyous holiday. We had told her a surprise was coming and she waited ALL DAY for this surprise on Mother's Day, but nothing ever showed up. Nothing brings back a dear child, but we wanted her to feel less alone on a day that has become extraordinarily difficult for her. If a company can't follow through with getting flowers and gifts delivered on holidays, they truly shouldn't be in business.
