After my daughter got her energy back a few days after her surgery, I wanted to dot my i(s) and cross my t(s) before I made the trip back to NY. Especially since she's limited in movement and would have to avoid driving for a bit while she recovers. One of those outings was for her and I to get a mani-pedi. The space is large with the nail station tucked on one side of this shop and opposite, at least 6(?) pedi chairs. Chairs were comfortable and sinks were lined which I liked. Tools are sanitized and new buffers+files are individually wrapped- which I also appreciate. Two sisters, the owner and someone else worked simultaneously on our manis+pedis. They were super pleasant and had delicate hands. Good. I wanted my services to be better. By the time we got here, it was an hour to closing. My kid and I knew that although both our manis+pedis would take more than an hour, that these folks would still go through the motions accordingly without rushing both jobs and worse, beating the clock. I get it- we all want to get home- but both our manis+ pedis were $65ea and was way too much money for polish that I had to remind my nail tech to fix around the edges. My kid and I left feeling more stressed than relaxed. read more

Stopped by to remove my gel nails that were growing out. I was a walk-in, and they were busy so they asked me to come back in 30 minutes. No problem. When I came back, I was promptly shunted to a corner station and left alone to soak. When someone finally came by, service was inattentive and careless. At one point she made a couple phone calls. The actual process of removing the nails was rough. At one point she was shirring off my nail so hard that it hurt my nail bed. I also had a little wound on my thumb and asked my technician to be careful with that but she kept grabbing my hand right where the wound was. You would think that a nail salon would be much more attentive and gentle, but no. I was originally just going to have my nails removed, but after seeing the state of my nails after they finished obliterating the previous, I was compelled to have a manicure done. That process wasn't any better because again, she was quite rough and kept mishandling my wounded thumb. Not sure why they have such positive reviews - my experience was horrible. I'm not from the area so I won't be back anyway, but even if I were, I would not return. read more

I initially called to get a full set + eye brow wax. Made an appt and showed up 15 min later, per their request. An acrylic overlay was 1.5 hours, which I felt like was a bit much. I eventually had to tell the lady, I was on a time constraint and needed her to finish. I spent $75, affordable sure. Not even 24 hrs later, 1 nail chipped.. 2 days later, 3 chipped. Went back to get it fixed.. not even a week later, I've gone back once, and have 3 more chipping nails. It's unfortunate because they're one of the few in the downtown area, but unless you have all the time in the world to keep going back to get it fixed, I would not recommend it. Save your money and time and go elsewhere. Oh, and never got my eyebrows done because it was almost 2 hrs to get an acrylic overlay. read more

I dropped in on a weekday afternoon for a manicure and pedicure, and I was warmly greeted by Cecilia. Cecelia paid a higher level of attention to detail in the treatment. The massage was lovely, the polish was pristine, and she offered a callous treatment to address my heels, and was upfront about the fact that it was an additional seven dollar cost. That seven dollars was so worth it! My heels looked like new feet! Throughout the treatment, Cecelia reminded me to sit back and relax, she adjusted the chair so I was comfortable, she turned on the massage functions on the chair, and she asked about the temperature in the water. Mediocre mani pedi spot in downtown. I mean I can't really ask for too much, I was in town for a wedding, didn't think Saturday mornings would be busy for all nail salons that weekend. I called like a handful of spots with high ratings and reviews and they were all too busy to take 2 walk-ins. Good thing that this place has opening for a last min walk-in. Although the place was rated 4 stars, there was nobody but my friend and I in the store. Maybe it's just nobody goes to downtown on a late Saturday morning, since PDX doesn't seem to open up until late on weekends. We got the basic spa mani/pedi. I know I have short nails this round, but nobody asked what shaped I want my nails or if I wanted to trim or just file them down. The massage was so gentle, the guy who did my mani/pedi sped through the massage so much, he was ready to paint my nails while my friend was just getting her massage started. However, their massage chairs are nice, even the seats had the glute squeeze. Probably too much, because the tech turned it off even before he started painting my nails. I don't know what to say, the paint job was just okay for the price I paid. My pedicure don't look smooth, the edges were peeling. Within a day, my manicure already started chipping. I'm just out at a wedding, not even doing anything wild. I think my own paint job can last longer than theirs. read more

Morning of the wedding, I went to the shop right as they opened and they were more than willing to be flexible and help me out. It took me about 45 minutes to get seated due to one manicurist being in the shop helping the two appointments present and the other ladies running a bit behind. Totally understandable and as soon as they got to the shop, they got right to work. I asked for gel manicure and no way did I receive one. The paint on my nails is already chipping and peeling off. One of my toes was also missed completely. I work typing at a desk all day, so I don't use my nails often at all. Gel usually lasts me ~2 weeks. It's been 4 days. Also please be warned, prices on the website are not accurate. More expensive in store. We got the urbantopia deluxe manicure and urbantopia spa pedicure with gel. Should have totaled about $115. Somehow my total was $135 in-store. read more

I'm sorry to say I didn't ask for the name of the woman who helped me, but she offered to get me on the schedule for 530pm. I GLADLY ACCEPTED. The sun is coming out this beautiful mid April day, I just had my second COVID-19 vaccine yesterday. What's more I went on a sandal shopping spree. I have at least 5 new pairs of cute summer sandals. But my feet were hideous. No polish adorned my whacked off toenails for over a year. With all these sandals a pedicure was urgently needed. I checked Yelp to see if I could get an appointment with the salon I was a regular at but sadly it didn't survive the pandemic. I liked them because they were about a five minute walk and they were super affordable. Like $30 for just a bare bones pedicure. I found this new place today thanks to Yelp. I was able to secure a convenient appointment. The walk was easy enough, only about 15 minutes. The woman working on my feet was delightful. Her name is Truc. I was in town for a wedding, and my friend and I walked in right when they opened. I got a basic gel manicure and basic spa pedicure. My friend did a basic spa pedicure. They were able to take us, and we had an awesome experience. We had another friend from the wedding party break one of her acrylics, and they were able to help her fix that too! I've never had gel nails EVER last this long for me (it's been 15 days) and I'm someone that picks at my nails (as you can probably see from my skin and cuticles I wish I took photos right after they were done. They looked great! At first I didn't like how short they were trimmed or the shape (I didn't have a preference so I just trusted the nail tech) and when she was done, I fully understood her choices. I wish I lived closer, because this would be my go-to salon! Happy with the spa pedicure as well. If I REALLY wanted to pamper myself, I would have upgraded. We booked an appt for two but upon arrival we learned they could not do us simultaneously. Fortunately I hadn't book dinner reservations. One tech was friendly and amazing while another did not take as much care with my natural nails. The nail polish selections needed updating. There were no beverages offered.
